Hi Edd 002, I've followed comments etc re Mason Mount and his representatives demands re a new contract. Whilst he certainly may be worth an increase on a 60k per week contract to re-sign, I'm not sure his "reported" demands to have parity with the likes of our top earners ( a couple of whom were mistakes) are warranted. My gut feeling is the club is/ are looking to bring wages into perspective in the future, yes, the EPL is right now the place to be (as the undoubted no 1 league fan wise), but, demanding 3 x the wages of other leagues is not sustainable, along with new rules I feel there may a a significant change coming to valuations.
Personally I'd let Mount go (for a fee) if he (and his reps) think he's worth more than the club is willing to offer.
Would love to hear your thoughts Ed?
The old adage, a champion team always beat a team of champions springs to mind!

{Ed002's Note - The situation is that the demands of the player are well beyond what the club are willing to pay and the club feel that they have already made a very good offer to the player. There have been approaches from three clubs and Chelsea would rather not sell, and the would be an issue for two of those clubs. We will see what happens in the summer.}

I’d let him leave. Personally I don’t think he fits in the formation we’ll be using. Unfortunate, but the honest truth.

Personally I would be gutted if he left, I love him as a player and also as a representative of the club, however I also understand the situation the club feels it’s in, in terms of contractual value of the player. I would be even more gutted if he left for on a free as other players have done recently. It really is a slight catch 21 in my opinion. I just hope it comes to a quick conclusion and doesn’t drag on forever.

Thanks Ed002 for the reply.
Hopefully common sense, his stated love for the club and a little time to ponder may bring about an agreement that leaves both parties happy.
I agree with your post cech, but, with Lukaku hopefully gone (preferably sooner rather than later) along with PEA and maybe Sterling, our "top earners" will be genuine "world class" players, I refer to Kante, Silva and probably Enzo. Reece is on slightly less, but substantial as he will definitely be world class one day soon and is young. Mount (whilst I love him) is exceptional, but not (and will never be) world class. If the stance is agent driven, hopefully he gets over it and stays and earns enough to be a wealthy man at the end of his career, if it is player driven I'd get rid asap, he'll aMount to nothing longterm, sorry couldn't resist that lol.
Hopefully it all works out.

If he loved the club so much he wouldn’t be so greedy. And if he played well enough he might get paid like Reece James.

I think Mount still has to find himsef a role / position in the team.
as far as attitude goes, he has always given his best . love his engine and energy.

Money is always a discussion and i feel that that will be sorted. Mount has mostly been injury free and can contribute for homegrown quota + a squad player.

I hope he stays and is a part of Chelsea for years to come. He is quality.
