Ed if you could answer that would be great, it's involving transfers I'm going to keep this very very basic as I know transfers are complicated to say the least, I once read years ago through an ex agent that said if you see / here that a transfer bid has been made the the buyer club has already agreed personal terms or an agreement to join with the player has been made through his agent or 3rd party ect before an official bid so the buying club doest waste time or resources bidding for a player that may not even be interested in a move to the buying club . question is ed is this how transfers happen, in a long story short type of answer? Thanks.

Cat

{Ed002's Note - The scouting staff will prepare reports on players and provide an idea about price; coaches will look at the players but have no idea about price; they will go to a Director of Football (or perhaps a mix of the finance director and others responsible for the monies) and say we would like this player and we think he will cost £x. Checking against available budgets, the club will likely approach his agent to ask if the player might be interested in the move and a broad idea about the package the player would want, and any broad idea about what the club would want - and what terms they may be open to (cash up front, spread over a year etc.). This sits inside the overall transfer process which looks something like this:

The process should be along the lines of: Clubs will typically informally ask an agent (a) if the player is going to be available, and (b) would the player consider a move to the club. There may be some broad discussion on the sort of deal that would be offered but no more than that. If the answer is yes, it is then necessary for the club to approach the player's club to ask if they would be willing to sell and if they would grant permission to speak to a player's agent formally to negotiate about a transfer and even to the player about actually making a move. This will typically involve the showing of serious interest (perhaps through an offer) or actually agreeing a fee and responsibility for any significant costs (agents fees etc.). Once this has happened the club will be able to speak formally to the player's agent and perhaps the player himself to look at the package that will be involved. Many players are looked at and discussed at a high-level with agents and clubs; a subset of those have an offer placed; a subset of those involve discussions with the player's club; a subset of those involve discussions over terms, and; a subset of those go ahead.

Agents will often try and get more specific details of wages and other financials before they should - but most clubs are happy to follow this process. Players will often talk to other players about moves but, whilst wrong, is tolerated as it would be impossible to manage.

Alternatively, a selling club may ask an agent to find a new club for a player and he will talk directly to potential selling sides about the fee, personal terms and interest. They will typically grant permission for the player to also speak to interested parties.

The rest of the time agents will be on fishing trips trying to find interest in their players.

In terms of what happens when the negotiations take place, broad agreement (player available and open to discussions, understanding of the price) will already have been reached. The clubs will meet to discuss the details of the transfer fee, other costs associated with the move and the structure of the payments and any additional fees (e.g another €5M for winning the Champions League etc.) but this does not take a "few days".}

1.) 28 Jun 2021 13:56:59
Ed002, would you also be able to share your summary on how much transfers cost and who pays what?

{Ed002's Note - It might be an apt time to explain again about the cost of transfers (excluding wages). What is paid by the buying club would typically include:

(a) Transfer fee - the big number.
(b) Any levy applied by the local FA – 5% for the Premier League.
(c) Tax due on the transfer fee – typically this will be VAT (at varying rates across Europe) some or all of which should be reclaimable.
(d) Agent fees – this may be to one or more agents (as an example, Liverpool have spent more than £100M plus VAT on agent fees over the past three years (nearly double the next highest) including £28M last season alone when only spending a tiny amount on transfers).
(e) Tax due on the agent fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the agent bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(f) Intermediary fees – this may be to one or more sponging leeches (what do you mean you have a super agent?) .
(g) Tax due on the Intermediary fees – typically this is VAT at the local rate where the Intermediary bills from – it is not reclaimable.
(h) Signing on fee to the player (possibly including non-reclaimable VAT if the player is VAT registered).
(i) Legal fees.
(j) VAT on legal fees which is reclaimable.
(k) Moving/relocation costs for the player.
(l) VAT on moving/relocation costs which is reclaimable.
(m) Solidarity and Training Contribututions (see below).
(n) Paying up insurance costs to the selling club (usually waived).

What is paid by the selling club would typically include:

(a) If the player is under 24 and moving between different football associations, a Solidarity contribution paid to his previous clubs responsible for his training - this is 5% of the transfer fee received (apportioned 5% of the contribution for each year from the season of his 12th birthday to the season of his 15th birthday and 10% of the contribution for each season from his 16th to 23rd birthdays). This is generally (there are exceptions) recoverable from the buying club but responsibility (that is meant to be with the buying club) can be assigned to the selling club.
(b) If the player moves to a higher category club (all clubs being categorised 1 to 4) then Training Compensation is due for the period of age 12 to 21. Compensation is due to all clubs when the player turns from amateur to professional and thereafter only when he moves from his final training club to another club. The initial training compensation is levied at the training costs associated with Category 4 clubs. The subsequent figure is agreed between the sides or tribuneral if necessary. This is generally (there are exceptions) recoverable from the buying club but responsibility (that is meant to be with the buying club) can be assigned to the selling club.
(c) Any monies owed to the player if he did not request a transfer – again this is 5% of the transfer fee received.
(d) Any monies owed to the player in terms of his contract (typically outstanding owed wages (not future wages) and bonuses).
(e) Any money contractually due to a previous club as the result of a sell-on clause.}

brilliant as always Ed! 👍.

3.) 28 Jun 2021 17:21:44
now this is why Ed says transfers are complicated.

I haven't posted on here for a long time, I thought it was a bit of negatively, I didn't want to get Involved in, each person's opinion to there own though, I'm speaking for myself when I say I'm over the moon delighted with how the season has gone, I think our general play is awesome, I really enjoy the short technical passing game, I enjoy bossing games and playing attacking.

I judge players on touch technique, and vision, more so than pace and power, it's just personal preference, I loved watching the Barcelona team under pep, when most of my mates would say it's boring.

I've seen a lot of criticism of our lack of goals from midfield, I don't agree with the criticism, the way we now play football is different, so take the great Barcelona team that had xavi, inesta, and busquets in midfield, those 3 would orchestrate, they struggled to score more than 10 goals between them when they were winning trebles, and scoring 130 goals a season, same with assists, them 3 wouldn't get many assists as expected, exactly the same as Madrid, with modric, kroos and casmero, low goals low assists, same as Bayern who don't have high scoring midfielders, same as us, this is the style we now play, the big difference is the 3 forwards were getting 100 goals between them every season, that's our big problem.

I've seen stats latley that say we have created the second most chances in the league this season, second by about 20 to city, and that we have hit the woodwork, 15 times this season the most by any side, take into consideration that the manager had no real preseason, and Liverpool, city and spurs have built there teams over 3-5 years, I'm very excited about the future, we are only 2/ 3 players from a serious title chalange, but 1 has to be a goal scorer.

Cat

1.) 20 Jan 2019 12:15:22
Hitting wood work 15 times doesn’t get you points, ., well it does 0 points and comparing us to the Barcelona team is terrible we don’t play anything like them and what is this attacking football you speak of, we’re out dated predictable and playing people out of position they are best at and hazard along with Kante in there best position there’s no better.

2.) 20 Jan 2019 22:55:02
Cat, A-men, I read this site pretty much every day but rarely post due to the negativity, the fickleness nature of some on here is ridiculous, I’m always positive because for so long of my formative years we were second best. Ever since Roman arrived I’ve been lucky enough to witness some great moments and I have never been as optimistic about the club as I am at the moment.

Prior to his appointment I was staunchly anti-Sarri (due to his history of racism and homophobia) but I have been nothing but impressed by both his football and statesmanly nature, even the chewing fag butts!

I think the problem is that people on here generally don’t understand how a Sarri team is intended to play. Jorginho operates as a regista - a deep lying playmaker if you will, now this is completely missed by the press - the argument seems to be that he isn’t scoring or assisting enough but he isn’t David Silva and nor is he meant to be. The regista position exists to dictate tempo, Jorginho is key because he acts as a sieve for the defensive passage of play, he has created an abundance of chances despite his lack of assists and goals.

The general misunderstanding of Kantes position is because he’s operating as a Mezzala - as is Kovacic, a high pressing box to box midfielder Kante is the equivalent of Allan at Napoli, he’s doing everything he was doing before except HIGHER up the pitch - how can that be anything but positive? The issue in the midfield really lies on the reliance on Kovacic, unlike Hamsik from what I’ve seen so far Kovacic/ Barkley/ RLC none really offer the intensity required for this position, Kovacic is growing there week by week and I think Ross will get there but this is the midfield issue, not Jorginho or Kante.

Hazard playing as a trequartista could still come good, I tend to believe he could be amazing if we had a second Mezzala like Coutinho or Fekir to be that Hamsik to his Mertens. I’m excited for Higuain to arrive and would still like a left back but I’m always excited whoever we sign, one of the few posts I’ve ever made on here was being excited about Pato and look at how that worked out. My point is Cat thank you for your positivity and I’ll join ya in a toast to a positive looking future!

3.) 22 Jan 2019 20:32:23
But the problem is that, while the Regista position may work in Italian football where teams tend to sit back, in the high tempo, high-press Premiership the Regista gets swamped by the opposition - and Sarri seemingly refuses to accept this and adapt accordingly. My problem with Sarri is that he has no Plan B (much like Theresa May) .

4.) 22 Jan 2019 21:54:24
Im sure we can both agree on Theresa May’s ineptitude haha, Sarri however, I’m a 4-3-3 boy through and through and believe that in time we will see the team thrive. Guardiola didn’t set the world alight at City straight away give him a chance he hasn’t even got his striker yet!

I would argue that Italian football being slow and boring is an outdated assumption, Have you seen Atalanta or Sassuolo? They’re fine examples of working hard off the ball, while I agree there are differences and no league can match the premierships intensity, this doesn’t make the regista redundant.

Still hopefully the team will win you round my friend!

22 Dec 2017 13:20:26
The balance of us being successful next season is a very fine margin, there is a lot of uncertainty around our club, with the manager and a few key players, it could really affect us next season if conte leaves or plays down his last year, same if courtois leaves or don't sign, and hazard also, but there is a massive boost, feel good factor if we sorted hazard and courtois's contract, as well as conte signing an extension, and get the transfers done early, get zouma, Rlc, Abraham all back for squad depth, and 2/3 world class players, it will be a massive buz if the players and manager signed, im not sure on conte i think if the board back him to the hilt so he is on level field with city i think he will stay fingers crossed.

Cat

1.) 22 Dec 2017 15:00:55
I wouldn't mind a swap between Courtois and Oblak. Hazard will stay for next season even if he doesn't extend his contract. Conte? It seems to depend on how well his family settles (which is fair enough) . Not sure about taking Zouma back.

2.) 22 Dec 2017 16:06:11
I can consider Oblak + Griezmann (or Saul Niguez) and £30m for Courtois.

3.) 22 Dec 2017 17:30:41
I believe Courtois will go, due to his family in Spain. I think Hazard May go, it’s been muted for 2-3 years I think this is his last year. If we sell then it is what we do with 150 plus million. If spent well then we move on. You have to remember every time someone has left and they say we are finished we bounce back and win the league.
Remember Trust in Roman.

4.) 22 Dec 2017 19:44:12
I'd ve very suprised if both were to go during the summer but could see one of them going. I'd be more happy to see Courtois go than Hazard and this may be an unpopular opinion to a lot of fans but as good as Courtois is, for me he hasn't improved a lot since his Athletico days. The only thing i can see keeping Hazard here is the price tag we'll HOPEFULLY put on him. In this market he's worth £160+ million easily and Real Madrid may find it hard to pay it up. And as Andrew said we'll bounce back, the player is never bigger than the club so if they don't want to be here i trust the board will do the right thing.

5.) 23 Dec 2017 10:05:02
I think us selling Hazard unless he made it clear he wanted out would be Chelsea as a club showing they're no longer interested in being the best. He is a genuine superstar and probably the reason behind so many younger fans choosing to support chelsea, he's one of the most entertaining footballers I've had the pleasure of watching live and seems like a really decent person. Courtois on the other hand has been good for us but wouldn't say anything special, if he doesn't want to be here I would get rid of him because there are plenty of good goalkeepers around. Ideally we'd keep both though as they are definitely 2 of our most important players.

07 Jul 2017 16:50:11
just read and seen photos that both conte and morata are in sardinia at the same time staying 2 miles apart from each other on there summer holidays, looks like they should talk to each other and get a deal done.

Cat

1.) 07 Jul 2017 18:29:12
Sky new claimed he's fuming chelsea didn't get lukaku.

2.) 07 Jul 2017 19:33:04
Morata is not coming to Chelsea, he will stay at Madrid most probably. Even Bakayoko transfer might not happen as well.

3.) 07 Jul 2017 20:54:23
Antibot don't be silly.

4.) 07 Jul 2017 23:41:39
the pics are suppose to be the past 48 hours and it shows conte on the beach with his family, playing football on a 5 aside pitch, he looks like a typical happy guy on holidays with his family and friends, he doesn't look fuming that's for sure,

5.) 07 Jul 2017 23:46:02
Alvaro Morata is Mourinho bound player. Mourinho was the first manager who gave a chance to Morata. The player moved to Juventus during Ancheloti spell at Madrid.
There is nothing silly. There is also quite possible that he will stay at Madrid.

6.) 08 Jul 2017 07:46:10
Very good inteligent striker id play him over bemzema all day long. for the money he's been throwing around at to clubs no 1 will buy him der pricing him out of a move because they need cash for mbappe madrid are not the power house they once were by looks of it united seem to be the king pins now when it comes to money.

06 Jun 2017 18:09:27
eds is it a case of Bakyoko or tolisso? or will we try and sign both players? cheers.

Cat

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any formal offer but Tolisso is an alternative to Bakayoko - in the same way Kessie was.}

Hypothetically do you think we would've won more if we had stuck with mourinho for 5 years, then Carlo Ancelotti for 5 years followed by conte for 5 then tuchel for 5 years?

Cat

1.) 16 Oct 2022 17:36:04
With Conte yes. Probably with Anchelotti as well.

2.) 17 Oct 2022 06:11:17
Carlo was a mystery, certainly played the best football under him, then sacked after Premiership and FA cup.
Jose was exactly what was needed when hired initially, don't concede, then score 1, win title after 50 years, I couldn't have been happier, then let's do it again, absolute heaven.
Don't know what happened here and certainly don't understand Romans thinking when dispensing with Carlo, but I feel this was his biggest (and only) mistake in his tenure as the owner.
Retrospectively so many things could have been done differently/ better, but hindsight is a great thing, is it not?

3.) 17 Oct 2022 19:12:48
Yep hindsight is great, the point I was making was do you think we’d be better off if we’d seen a plan through with a world class manager for say 5 years or so through thick and thin.

03 Aug 2022 20:31:40
I can't believe all the negativity around Chelsea through the press and pundits, at face value we finished 3rd with a monumental hurdle in the club being sanctioned, and constantly reading that we are close to going out of business ect, not only 3rd we lost by a whisker in both cup competitions, and was probably the better team against the eventual champions league winners in Madrid, in terms of starting players lost I only see rudiger as a loss, lukaku no thanks I thought we were better attacking the season before, and Christenson was so so in my opinion, so from last seasons base we have lost rudiger but signed cucurella, koulibally, sterling and are heavily linked to fofana, frankie de jong, and maybe a forward, for the life of me I think we are closer to challenging for the title than dropping out of the top 4, the players we've signed and are linked to are top class plus Ben chillwell like a new signing, herring that cucurella will play LCB.

Cat

1.) 03 Aug 2022 21:06:40
Top post Cat. I totally agree.

2.) 03 Aug 2022 21:27:11
Cat forget about last season: losing in finals is coming last. Cucurella is a good player but is not a natural CB, it would be a complete waste to play him in that position. We haven’t got Fonfana or de Jong so not let’s jump the gun. I don’t really care what pundits think about Chelsea but there is no doubt Arsenal and Spurs have significantly improved their squads: hopefully we will continue to to the same in the rest of the window. I will be surprised if Spurs do not make top 4 this season. With Cucurella, James and Sterling on the flanks it cries out for a proper No 9.

3.) 03 Aug 2022 21:34:18
Talk sport had part of there show which was “ are chelsea in trouble “ the big questions are, have we improved from last season,
We’ve lost a no9, we’ve got sterling, not comparing the players but sterling is a big improvement on any of our wide players, we still have a goalscorer problem,
Christensen rudiger leaving, KK, I’d say rudi and KK isn’t much in it so not an improvement but not got worse, losing Christensen I thought colwill could replace him quite easily actually but if it’s Cucurella to play lcb then it’s an improvement at s high cost, midfield, Gallagher in, jorginho kante both bit older both getting few more knocks. And maybe not play week in week out now so I’d say midfield we haven’t really improved, more depth but starting 11 we’re a winger better of and better slightly in defence, than last season.
Chillwell and James not being injured will be a boost because those injuries took our legs from under us last season, I think a CM and striker now are more a priority than fofana and I’m a fan of fofana. Think a lot of worry or criticism is arsenal spurs city Liverpool have all improved and white a lot and United can’t be as bad as they were, spurs wernt far behind us last season.

4.) 03 Aug 2022 21:57:38
You wouldn’t be excited if you got a lap dance of Megan Fox Matt.

Signed Sterling, Koulibaly, Chukwuemeka and Slonina. Two great players for more two great ones for the future. Cucurella and Fofana we can hopefully get over the line then the defence is sorted. Can’t do everything in one window. Next summer go for a physical DM (profile we are missing) and if Havertz or Broja show no signs of taking up that 9 role we bring a striker in. There will always be a new striker prodigy on the market it happens every year. Reassess in 12 months.

5.) 03 Aug 2022 22:11:33
I want this to be another Premiership winning season and I think we may well surprise a few pundits.

The pundits have no better opinion than any supporter and they, like most supporters, have there biases.

I don’t think much has changed there are probably five teams maybe six if you count Utd fighting for the top four positions. Understandable that they are all trying to improve their squads.

Five subs this year and a mid season World Cup, will make it all very interesting.

6.) 03 Aug 2022 22:26:25
Great post Cat and well backed up by
Jay08 and Tom B.
The negative sisters, Matt and Jimbo will always pounce though as they knock their heads every morning getting out of bed the wrong way. ?.

7.) 03 Aug 2022 22:39:36
Jay, if it wasn’t for posters like Matt, me and a few others this site would just be a “Love -in”. Seriously, apparently the Cucurella deal hasn’t been settled yet. Leaving that aside, a finish outside the top four would be a huge blow for the new owners. Tom is right the race for the top four will be very competitive this season. My concern is whatever combination of our front three just hasn’t got enough goals in it. I don’t think we can delay in getting a striker until next season. We didn’t need another LWB, is Cucurella a player TT has specifically asked for? Tom I think there is a budget; I just hope we don’t spend it all on defenders. All will be revealed on 1st September!

8.) 03 Aug 2022 22:48:21
Tom, you’ve had too many JDs tonight BUT if we sign a top class CB, midfielder and striker and possibly cover for wingbacks I will start to believe that we can make a serious challenge for the title.

9.) 04 Aug 2022 00:15:08
Cat, I came to this site just to say exactly same thing.

The Season haven't even started (neither did transfer window closed) and they already have written us off.

We were written off before and always came blazing, I do really want to do it this season!

10.) 04 Aug 2022 01:38:26
Hahah I didn’t even think my post was negative, it was an opinion and backed up with reasons. Unlike some clowns who don’t back up any opinion just smile and say it’s fine, I was comparing and making observations of have we improved, Chukwuemeka and the USA golakeeepr don’t improve our 11, it can be argued sterling is only one who does improve our 11, if you disagree explain why,
Is KK better than rudiger, we don’t know yet, his older and new league so if he is it’s not definite, sterling improved us but we’re a striker down? Instead of the petty name calling explain why we’re better and have less to worry about than last season, like I said other teams have improved more than us, think about it.

11.) 04 Aug 2022 01:43:21
And surely we can only debate where we are now rather than ifs and buts about players we might get, have we not learned anything from kounde and raphina being agreed and now at another club, still waiting for Matheus nunes to sign like g8 said he was 4 weeks ago, thought there’s be genuine debate on who and why things are better this season, rather than, oh that’s negative ans no explanation on why I’m wrong. Morons.

12.) 04 Aug 2022 07:14:12
Matt, I’m surprised that you have used the word “Morons” to describe posters who disagree with your opinion and that’s all we all have just opinions. Surely we can just agree to disagree

You are correct we have lost a forward but a forward who didn’t fit into the way the team plays and was as I feared no better than when he played for Everton or Utd.

We have recruited a top CH and Forward plus at the moment and we have loan players coming back who may well improve our squad.

It’s perfectly reasonable for some fans to see the players we have signed and look like signing as upgrades on a squad that on occasion flattered to deceive.

13.) 04 Aug 2022 07:24:13
Jimbo, as I’ve said many times I want us to win the Premiership every season.

The players we have signed and the players we are being linked with all look to be an upgrade to me.

The “budget” was reported by some of the usual headline seeking pundits and repeated as a set figure and a reality by fans. I can find no statement from the club about a set “budget” but my guess is they are being driven by a desire for playing success and therefore a protection of there investment.

My view from the the start of there reign was this would be a statement year and we should all defer judgement for the seasons ahead. Nothing has changed.

14.) 04 Aug 2022 08:06:42
Matt you need to watch your language, as you the only one who calls other posters names.

15.) 04 Aug 2022 08:13:27
Agree with you matt mate stick to your guns but I am surprised you used the word morons to, way to nice

Delighted with cucerella signing imo he's better than chillwell

Love to see a striker come in though.

16.) 04 Aug 2022 08:40:35
There is a lot of easily offended people on here grow a set and move on fgs.

17.) 04 Aug 2022 10:12:53
No surprise.

Matt, I just think you are better than that but yes you should stick to your guns but remember posters with a positive view of our signings and potential signings also make this site work and are entitled to there view as well.

18.) 04 Aug 2022 11:35:35
There’s no disagreement Tom, it’s just going on about being negative, if someone actually said. I think your wrong because then that’s what starts a debate, I’ll ask g8 and cat a few questions
1) is our squad/ first 11 improved from last year,
2) have teams like spurs and arsenal improved from last year
3) the season starts in two days, TT wanted transfers done ready ( his words ) so far we’ve got in a winger and cb, are we ready for start of season, take into account we have many players who want to leave us ( TT WORDS )
4) I Slammed our ore season, so did TT, are we both negative or both wrong or only me?

19.) 04 Aug 2022 12:20:33
Matt, I think you went too far. Leaving that aside I agree with you we are starting the season with effectively the same side. TT said it “ it’s the same players” whether him saying that in the context he did is appropriate is another matter. I just hope we don’t make any panic buys. As I keep saying we need a striker but I would rather go without than bring in some of the forwards linked to us. It is clear that a DOF is urgently needed once the window closes. On a separate issue Gary Neville critising TB’s approach in the window. I would have thought he would have kept his big hooter out of Chelsea’s business and worry about Man U. Their number one target doesn’t want to leave Barcelona and if he does leave he doesn’t want to join Man U!

20.) 04 Aug 2022 12:48:55
Matt, the USA tour looked poorly planned but that’s no excuse for our poor performances. My assumption was it was organised by the previous management but I think that is a tad unfair of me.

I think we should all remember that it takes different opinions to make a successful site and that includes positive and negative opinions.

Some like to make personal attacks on players, the management and fellow posters. That’s up to them but I will carry on being supportive and critical while you trying to explain my reasoning.

21.) 04 Aug 2022 13:02:40
I’ll apologise for calling anyone a moron, wasn’t for disagreeing with me, I expect we all disagree, just to disagree with only the narrative that’s I’m negative,

Yeah surprises me Neville has an opinion on football owners, Swiss ramble done a piece on Salford and the money they’ve spent compared to others, he has a brass neck to point at owners buying the leagues / success

And while I’m ranting I’ll point out the last time I was bashed for being negative was when I said if we lose out to de ligt and raphina it show boehly how tough a transfer window is and can be, was attacked for being negative, fast forward and raphina de ligt kounde lewandowski all wearing another teams shirt. / so being negative doesn’t mean I’m wrong haha.

Jimbo it wasn’t a dig in any way at you or Matt you’re great posters but the negativity does become draining on here. I’ve read this site for years before airing my views I in no way meant to be rude.

We’ve had a bad year with the Ambramovich sale. Boehly has come in and steadied us and showed he is willing to do what it takes for Chelsea to compete again. We won’t agree with every signing we’ll get.

We need a sporting director badly. Players like Fofana and Cucurella will be great buys as long as Emerson and Alonso move on as well as Azpi we need squad depth. Cucurella can play LCB and LB.

Some players were linked with like Dumfries, Walker-Peters for the figures quoted are a joke. De Jong at 70 odd million would be a farce. Good player but why sign him if he’s not the profile we need? We need a holding player who’s physically dominant like a Rodri/ Fabinho type. He’ll be on massive wages as well. If you can’t get the type of player you want wait for a bit sort a sporting director out and let him scout.

I would sign Fofana and Cucurella then not sign anyone else and hope we can get Michael Edwards in by Christmas. We should then just hopefully sort out outgoings and players who have no future here.

Azpi, Alonso, Emerson, Barkley, Kenedy, Ziyech permanent. Sarr, Werner, Kepa loan and probably sell them next year or try and include obligations. It’ll take a couple of years but I’m sure we’ll get there.

Very impressed with the signings of Slonina, Hutchinson and Chukwuemeka as it shows Boehly is building for the future also.

Replying to Matt, yes mate I think our squad / team this season is better than last season, nobody knows what would have happened but with chilwell and James for the first 3rd of last season we was neck and neck with city and Liverpool, James missed about 6 weeks and obviously chilly most of the season, like when vvd was injured Liverpool finished 4th, just those 2 alone not being injured gives great confidence, add koulibally who I think is better than rudiger, and sterling is a great signing, big if but if we pull off another couple of transfers of high quality then great bring on the season I’m happy, I was trying to simplify the point that we got to 2 finals, finished 3rd had problems with owners, full backs injured and we managed that sort of season, now just imagine for a moment we don’t have any off field problems and we add 5 -6 quality plus chilly and reeece both being fit then I can’t help but see positives and am confident, ps :arsenal and spurs both finished behind us last season they are chasing last seasons Chelsea, not the Chelsea of now who will add 5-6 upgrades on starting 11!

24.) 04 Aug 2022 14:30:02
I don’t think we are any better at the moment but let’s see where we are on 1st September. I don’t think Edwards will come to Chelsea, as I understand it he was quite firm about wanting a sabbatical.

25.) 04 Aug 2022 17:49:07
Yep said in my post about chilwell and James, it knows our momentum,

I honestly don’t know if KK is an upgrade on rudi, rudi was a leader but it’s a brilliant move for us,

And I agree that come the end of the window that’s when we judge it, it’s just frustrating that spurs and arsenal seem to have majority of there signings done and in for pre season, spurs second game will be massive.

26.) 04 Aug 2022 19:39:17
Matt, I understand your frustrations but that only thing I would say is that Arsenal and Spurs have chosen much easier targets: we have been going in for top class players.

27.) 04 Aug 2022 19:45:09
Matt we were always going to late starters with the embargo and new management creating a structure.

We all new this was going to happen. It should be no surprise or frustrating.

I've become a little bit out of touch reguarding our youngsters over the last 18 months or so, could anyone give an opinion on who they think could push for the senior team in the future? , the names that stood out to me in the past where vale and Webster how are they progressing? Is anyone else doing well and pushing for a call up?

Cat

1.) 05 Jun 2022 20:24:32
Vale n Webster are the two stand out. but I think there contracts are up soon. if I am correct.

2.) 06 Jun 2022 09:01:25

If the reports are true about Saúl and Jules Koundé, then that would be some team/ squad I think that would be enough to challenge on all fronts.

Chelsea have spent £97.5m so far this summer and have basically made all the money back through sales and there's still more sales to come. Arsenal have spent around £125m once they've got Ramsdale and Odegaard while only selling Willock so their net spend is around £100m while ours is £5m or maybe less. Also in the last 5 years Arsenal's net spend is also higher but apparently we're the oil club that ruins football. We're the Champions of Europe while they aren't even in Europe this season and haven't been in the Champions League for years. Goes to show how different the clubs are run as Arsenal can't say they don't spend as they clearly do. Put some respect on Marina and the board's name and people should realise we don't throw money around like we used to and are a well run club.

100% Cat.

{Ed014's Note - never blow another’s candle out to make yours shine brighter! 🤦‍♂️

2.) 21 Aug 2021 17:54:32
True Ed, I don’t care what other teams are doing, only worried about us.

{Ed014's Note - exactly Jimbo

3.) 21 Aug 2021 22:57:23
It's not about caring what other teams are doing, it's about having a bit of fun and banter against one of our rivals that we just so happen to be playing tomorrow lighten up guys have the crack.

4.) 22 Aug 2021 01:33:07
It’s poking at a (former) rival and a bit of banter IMO.

5.) 21 Aug 2021 23:12:54
I do agree to an extent Ed014. However, you must admit when we (Chelsea) win trophies and do well it’s cause we are « buying success » and it’s all thanks to « oil money « when in reality, Chelsea do have a good net spend, buying better than most clubs. We are à well run cli but the obvious narrative from rival fans is that we « buy success » .

I do also agree, I don’t care how other clubs spend I’ve only been interested in what Chelsea do but at the same time I can see why fellow Chelsea fans like the original poster need to make this point.

{Ed014's Note - It was at one time the case ELI, pre FFP you could spend what you like and did.

That’s what people don’t forget but Roman has changed all that and you are now an extremely well run club that win things on merit.

Thus I would just ignore any bitterness from rival fans who can’t get over themselves and I get he wants to make a point but you don’t need to put anyone else down to do it.

6.) 22 Aug 2021 13:20:52
I think the last paragraph of the Cat post refers to us being a well run club.

7.) 22 Aug 2021 13:48:54
You got it tom.

8.) 22 Aug 2021 14:01:05
On reflection I apologize and I shouldn't take the mick out of a mid table team .

9.) 22 Aug 2021 13:21:50
It looks like I've came across Wrong ed14 I was hoping for a bit of back and forth banter, in all honesty I couldn't care less if I tried what arsenal do, it wasn't a random statement we are playing later today, at what moment did football fans become so fragile and sensitive that we can't wind up and take the Micky out of fellow rivals, shame really I always enjoyed having a laugh, I dread to think what it will be like in coming years .

{Ed014's Note - no snags having a laugh mate but you didn’t say it like that at all.

You were just moaning and putting another club down to big your own up because you went full blown snowflake because people didn’t think you were a well run club. 🤷‍♂️

10.) 22 Aug 2021 16:06:47
No mate it's much more simple than that I thought it would be funny.

{Ed014's Note - I was born at night but it wasn’t last bloody night!🤦‍♂️

Yep hindsight is great, the point I was making was do you think we’d be better off if we’d seen a plan through with a world class manager for say 5 years or so through thick and thin.

I’ve just been listening to a podcast explaining Chelsea’s plans and ambitions going forward, apparently bohley likes the RB structure hence why taking the dof, what I just watched explained that his plan is to buy a club in Portugal and one in Brazil, so we can loan players to them and have a strong grip on cherry picking the best talents from both leagues, even if they are to young to move straight away we will keep them in there origin country until old enough, what else it said was very interesting, it said that we were going to copy the best parts of the city group (Man City) and the best parts of fsg (lfc) apparently fsg love the data side of the game, the one guy in the podcast said it should be quite easy and quick for Chelsea to be a huge force going forward, he explained that it was easier for Elon musk to get into space exploration because NASA had already done all the leg work and had the data needed, so they said we will look at what worked for Man City and Liverpool and literally piggy back them, also touched on how it took city a few years to establish the city group and how it took FSG and there data driven ideas nearly a decade to see the fruits of its labour, in a nutshell we will be a hybrid of city and Liverpool and won’t take a long time getting there, and apparently we’ve agreed with freund to invest 300 million euros over the nest 2 seasons on players, I don’t know about you guys but we can’t ask for more than that can we, I for am extremely excited going forward.
