Hi Ed002, got a quick question regarding Leao. I know the club were interested in getting him either this past January or for next summer.

Now that Mudryk and Madueke have been brought in, with Nkunku joining in the summer, does that mean interest in Leao is now gone? Or could they still yet pursue him (with only 1 year remaining on his contract this summer) if they manage to shift some attacking players (Ziyech, Pulisic, Hudson-Odoi, maybe Havertz)?

Thank you. Hope life is treating you well. As always, the work on this site is appreciated very much.

Jackson

{Ed002's Note - A good question Jackson - Rafael Leao (W/F) I cannot see the player moving to Newcastle who have enquired but PSG have sent scouts and he might be an option for Real Madrid as they clear the decks - and they would look to including a player in a deal which will cost around €120M. Manchester City see him as an attacking addition. Milan want him to stay and sign a new contract, but fear a significant offer from Manchester City, Chelsea, Madrid or PSG although Chelsea have added Mudryk as they focus on other positions. Chelsea do have the benefit of having players Milan are interested in so cannot be completely discounted. Real Madrid may look to find a solution but their initial focus for the summer is on a different position. There were complications with money owed but they have been largely removed. Milan still want a new contract, but the price will likely be beyond what they are prepared to pay but a compromise may be found.}

Selfish as I am as a football fan, if he's not coming to Chelsea then I hope he extends at Milan and stays there :)

Thank you, Ed. Seems like an unlikely one for Chelsea then, which makes sense after the January we've had. Focus in any case should probably be elsewhere over the summer (striker and central midfield catching my eye) .

Have an excellent day!

{Ed002's Note - And you.

Hi Ed002, hope you don't mind me asking. I read on the Everton page that Chelsea are in talks with another club to discuss a sale of Hudson-Odoi.

Now I think he's got the talent to go straight to the top. The achilles injury halted his development, and he hasn't received consistent playing time ever since (certainly not in attack, where he should play) . So while I'd be sad to see him go, I do think a move elsewhere, where he can hopefully play consistently in attack, would be good for him personally.

Could I ask which club Chelsea is in discussions with for him?

Jackson

{Ed002's Note - Newcastle.}

1.) 30 Jul 2022 13:54:13
Could be an interesting opportunity for him. Thanks for the reply, Ed.

Enjoy your weekend, with hopefully a fun Community Shield to watch today! If you'll be tuning in for it that is of course :-)

{Ed002's Note - Enjoy yourself.}

2.) 30 Jul 2022 14:54:40
Ed002, would it be possible to ask the rough asking price on Hudson-Odoi?

{Ed002's Note - It is of no relevance - ignore the finances.}

23 Feb 2022 10:58:32
Hi Ed, just a question and it's no problem at all if you don't wish to get involved in it.

For now the Lukaku signing doesn't seem to have worked out very well. Then there's also the whole interview thing that happened and obviously didn't help matters.

Do you think, if the club were to make him available for sale (the way they're open to selling Callum, Pulisic, Ziyech etc. apparently), there would be clubs interested in him?
Despite an off season, I reckon Chelsea would still want a significant fee for him, so there aren't many clubs I could see test the waters for him to begin with.

Thank you. Have a nice day!

Jackson

{Ed002's Note - If any player wishes to leave the club, then Chelsea will generally not object. Romelu Lukaku (S) PSG are likely to need two strikers in the summer and only have one already agreed then perhaps someone has suggested prior interest in Lukaku has returned. I know that representatives of the clubs have spoken about other matters but I am pretty sure that Lukaku has not been mentioned at this time. If he were to leave Inter may be interested in a loan or perhaps Conte as a Kane replacement - but it seems unlikely right now.}

1.) 23 Feb 2022 11:48:59
Understood, thank you, Ed!

Much can happen from now until the summer still. Was just curious about this one. Very much appreciated, Ed.

2.) 23 Feb 2022 12:40:40
what ever we do we will take a loss. but o well!

3.) 23 Feb 2022 14:17:10
I think we all saw last night how much better we look with Havertz as our number 9, we now need to give him a good run in that position with good options behind him.

4.) 23 Feb 2022 14:44:33
Thanks ed.

22 Feb 2022 11:23:36
For those of us that were looking forward to seeing Tchouameni play at the Bridge next season, it's not looking good.

More and more reports suggesting Madrid will push to sign him next summer, and as most know, the lure of playing for Los Blancos is too much to resist for a lot of players.

Jackson

1.) 23 Feb 2022 10:49:47
Just needs to look at Camavinga who can't get a game to make his choice.

30 Jan 2022 11:45:14
Clutching at straws here, with the straws being Marca report (which is probably just some journalist guessing) . But the report states Chelsea are willing to sign Dembele this month still.

For those who like Dembele, perhaps there is some hope!

Jackson

1.) 30 Jan 2022 12:48:36
If Tuchel wants him Jackson I am with him although wouldn’t be my choice. For free what could go wrong. Only issue is I’d of thought one of our forwards would have to leave for him to come in we have a lot now.

2.) 30 Jan 2022 14:03:38
Chelsea are ready to offer around €15million (£12.5m) to Barcelona to sign Dembele before January 31. Is the story. The rumour. Spurs are also interested.

Or, as reported elsewhere. Newcastle United, Manchester United and Chelea are three teams that are considering signing Dembele.

Or he is being offered as a loan for the rest of the season. Barcelona need to get his wages off their books, especially if they are going to pay 350k a week to Mr. Aubameyang, on loan from Arsenal.

Dembele is a great player -- when he is fit.

3.) 30 Jan 2022 17:49:19
And now it appears United have made an offer of 20 million for Dembele. Guess we can stop hoping completely now.

4.) 30 Jan 2022 20:58:35
hes off to PSG.

5.) 30 Jan 2022 22:16:57
Paris St-Germain have agreed terms with Ousmane Dembele.
Mbappe. Messi. Neymar and Dembele. - that is fairly impressive.

bbc.com/sport/football/60192791

Manchester United and Chelsea also showed interest in a deal.

But the Premier League clubs are not expected to be able to challenge PSG for the France forward's signature because of financial fair play restrictions, which would leave them needing to offload players before adding Dembele's wages to their books.

because of financial fair play restriction?

Do PSG not have to also deal with FFP restrictions? I mean their wage bill must be fairly high non?

6.) 31 Jan 2022 08:33:50
Like City, PSG are very good at getting lucrative sponsorship deals.

7.) 01 Feb 2022 02:32:07
All sounds like bollocks to me as I wonder if the sponsorship deals are real or only exist on paper.

PSG are a state owned club. Qatar Sports Investments (QSI) . A subsidiary of Qatars Sovereign wealth fund, Qatar Investment Authority (QIA) and PSG are sponsored by Qatar Tourism. And that is fair play. PSG have spent over €1.3bn on player transfers since the summer of 2011.

Saw a post on twitter saying Klopp has given Colwill a direct phone call, which Chelsea aren't happy with as they've insisted he's not for sale.

Klipperty at it again with the tapping up? Can't say I'd be surprised if it's true. Both Pool and Brighton are annoying me with the persistent exertions of love for Colwill. I get that they both like the player, he's exceptional. But if Chelsea say he's not for sale then that should be that for now.

Jackson

13 Jul 2022 09:08:50
West Ham now been reported to have made a big proposal to Sassuolo, of over 40 million. Considering they needed to sell some players for sure to start the window, I do wonder whether their "Rice is not for sale under any circumstance" stance could be altered.

That said, Scamacca would be a great get for them if they can pull it off.

Jackson

1.) 13 Jul 2022 09:42:48
I believe that everything is possible nowdays.

24 Mar 2022 08:24:47
So it would appear Tchouameni will be joining Madrid this summer and not Chelsea. Chelsea decided against signing him last summer, instead opting for Saul loan, and will now pay the price. They'll lose out on a world class midfield talent that could've been with the club for the coming 10 years. Madrid on the other hand continuing to get the best available. After Camavinga now also Tchouameni.

Let's hope Rice is a possibility then, though I doubt it. If not, I'm not sure whether there are good alternatives available to play a holding midfield role. Think I'd just give Ampadu a real chance first, and depending on that go back in for Rice next summer perhaps.

Shame as I really like Tchouameni.

Jackson

1.) 24 Mar 2022 09:02:11
Jackson, subject to the new owner being in place by the next window, I think whoever it is will want to make an initial statement of intent.

I wouldn’t rule out one or two big signings and that may well include either of the players you mentioned.

2.) 24 Mar 2022 09:13:01
I must have missed Real Madrid announcing the signing.
Ed002 said the other day nothing has changed.

3.) 24 Mar 2022 15:12:42
I’m not expecting any big signings this summer. Broja and Gallagher to join the first team squad and perhaps a CB. I expect quite a few outgoings.

4.) 24 Mar 2022 16:44:59
As I said before Jimbo, I think 8/ 9 to leave our current first team squad.

5.) 24 Mar 2022 19:46:54
Jackson; it seems you know something about Tchouameni that nobody knows about, might sharing your source?

6.) 25 Mar 2022 06:43:17
Well, Ed wrote just two days ago that Chelsea might try to go for him with a "creative solution" once the ownership-situation has been settled (unless I horrible misread his comment, which I do not believe to be the case) .
Nevertheless, it'll sure be interesting to see how our transfer plans will shape up once all the uncertainties have been answered!

13 Mar 2022 10:40:32
Well guys, one thing is certain. Chelsea is definitely back to being the most hated club in the world.

I hope the government don't run us into administration. But if they do, we've had a good run. Loved Chelsea ever since I really started getting into football, and don't think there's ever going to be another club I can feel the same about.

One thing I hope is that they stop being selective in whom they target. Apparently they might consider letting Chelsea sell tickets, IF the proceeds go to Ukrainian support. If true, I look forward to hearing about the government forcing Newcastle donating the ticket money to Yemen. But yeah.

Enjoy possibly the last few months of the Chelsea as we know it, people. I'm signing off with this post. KTBFFH.

Jackson

1.) 13 Mar 2022 14:46:41
Hey Jackson mate, keep your head up and keep supporting the champions of the world! I think that while this entire situation is awful, there could be some positives to come from it all. We might not win as much but we might be a bit more respected by other clubs fans (not that we care) and we might see even more academy players coming through!

The irony of our corrupt government, corrupt FIFA etc punishing our club, players, staff and fans because of our rumoured corrupt owner is laughable. Whole world has gone mad.

10 Mar 2022 10:13:57
Looks like Chelsea won't be sold anytime soon, and we can let go of our transfer questions too, because the club aren't allowed to do any business.

Curious situation, and a very difficult one for the club. Financial ramifications could be huge. Could be a very tough couple of years coming up for the club. Hopefully it works out in the end, but things aren't looking promising.

Jackson

1.) 10 Mar 2022 10:33:35
Jackson, you’re right apparently we can’t sell tickets and only season ticket holders will be able to attend games. I hope the government have a plan to resolve this otherwise we will go out of business.

2.) 10 Mar 2022 11:45:27
Presumably you will still get sold, just the money won't be going to Roman and the buyers may not be who youd wished.

3.) 10 Mar 2022 12:31:40
He was planning on donating the proceeds of the sale anyway :p doesn't change all that much for Roman then, but it's the club and fans that suffer. Thank, UK government!

{Ed014's Note - it’s actually the Ukrainian people who are suffering and how about thank you Mr Putin and who exactly was he donating it too?

This stuff literally makes me puke, only concerned about a poxy football club.

4.) 10 Mar 2022 13:02:38
Ed 014 I don't get this argument, yes it's utterly terrible what's happening in Ukraine and Putin can do one, but what has that got to do with Chelsea the football club and the fans? Sanction Roman but don't sanction the club and evryone associated with it.

The club and the fans are being punished for something that they have no control over. Where's this energy for the war in Yemen or the middle east? Or for the Newcastle owners or Everton and Arsenal owners, they're both Russian, shouldn't they be punished too? It all comes off a little hypocritical to me, but hey I'm no expert in geo-political issues just a football fan.

{Ed014's Note - Arsenal are owned by an American and I’m commenting on a fan having more concern about a football club than innocent people being killed by a Russian thug and his cronies.

That football fans suffer the inconvenience of not going to a match pales into insignificance so to hear the whinging about it does my head in.

Simple enough?

5.)

6.) 10 Mar 2022 13:48:10
I agree. I said a few weeks back the best thing for RA to do is walk away. Not a penny should go to him, an Administrator should oversee the sale.

What I will say though is did the almighty UK Government forget to sanction Britain, America and Saudi for their parts in war crimes over the past 500 years? Must have been swept under the carpet like the Garden Party.

{Ed014's Note - there have been and will continue to be so many wrongs mate and it’s unfortunate that Chelsea are on the end of this but if sanctions mean these Oligarchs come together and talk sense into that nut Putin then the more sanctions the better.

7.) 10 Mar 2022 14:04:23
Wonderful hypocrisy from malaga-goone! You had Alisher Usmanov on your club's board from 2007-2018 without protest. Are you ashamed to be an Arsenal fan?

Chelsea's next home game is against Newcastle, whose fans don't seem to be upset about their dubious new ownership. Fact is that most of us fans probably bare guilty of not looking all that closely at where the mon ey comes from for our clubs because wht we are obsessed with is the success of our club on the pitch. That's why we are fans and many of us have been loyal to the club come what may and - in my case at least - for decades.

I just wish the sanctioing of Russian oligarchs would bring peace in the Ukraine or the practical assistance they need to fight back effectively. But I fear it is playing a longer game, and might be as much now for the optics as anything else. Hope I'm wrong.

8.) 10 Mar 2022 14:16:23
I think that's drawing conclusions from my post that aren't actually there, Ed014. Obviously what's happening is horrible for the Ukrainian people, as well as people all over the world being impacted due to rapid rising of prices etc. It's dreadful.

But all that doesn't mean that the sanctions imposed probably damage Abramovich far less than the club and subsequently also the fans. The hostility seen towards Chelsea fans is also quite curious. I will not apologise for supporting Chelsea, and nor should I. Chelsea have done nothing wrong.

{Ed014's Note - how can I draw a conclusion, it’s in black and white, your thought is to blame the UK government and at the same time show zero concern for the Ukrainian people.

I’m not hostile to you personally either, I’m hostile to a nation of which Abramovich is one. He needs to grow a set as do other Oligarchs instead of doing nowt.

9.) 10 Mar 2022 14:21:31
Furthermore, I've got much bigger problems than Chelsea myself personally. But this is a site/ forum dedicated to Chelsea, so I stick to that subject mostly. Why does that make me such a monster?

Horrible things happening in the world doesn't automatically make the bad things better or make them go away.

{Ed014's Note - I’m not referring to you as a monster, I’m saying maybe you should check your moral compass.

10.) 10 Mar 2022 14:26:55
Completely agree mate. If it takes this to make it all stop then so be it.

Our fans were fans before RA ( I hope) and will be fans long after. I’m actually positive about our future, hopefully a clean slate!

{Ed014's Note - 100% Dan

11.) 10 Mar 2022 14:29:58
Ed014 I suggest you look at the deaths and persecution of eastern Ukrainians since 2014 by the Ukrainian government. I suggest you look at SA crimes in Yemen, US, UK crimes in Iraq, Afghanistan, Lybia etc and also while you're at it the Israeli apartheid state and it's occupation and genocide in Palestine before you come on here and give anybody a lecture about crimes against humanity. It's a fact that this conflict has been engineered by both sides (east and west) for geopolitical, energy and security reasons. Were going on like this has never happened before or isn't happening in other areas of the world. What's disgusting to me is the propensity by folks like you to fall victim to the propaganda machine that is Western media and the willingness to blindly follow such narrative without being bothered to either educate yourself or keep an open mind. This isn't meant as an insult but rather as a response to you in the same tone you've just set.

{Ed014's Note - you can suggest all you like mate but right now worrying over a football club isn’t a bloody priority.

12.) 10 Mar 2022 14:34:39
JBS, for your information he never had a seat on our board. So get your facts right son.

13.) 10 Mar 2022 14:54:50
I never said what's happening in Ukraine isn't much worse than the consequences for Chelsea. But I very much fail to see how they think this is going to affect Roman all that much, and certainly not Putin (I doubt he'd be influenced much by others anyway) . Roman wasn't planning on keeping the majority of the proceeds of the sale, so while 250 mil let's say is a life changing amount for myself and any possible future generations of my family, it doesn't hurt a billionaire like Roman THAT much.

It can however damage Chelsea the club a whole lot. But Putin won't care about Chelsea obviously. Make Roman sell the club and don't let him get any of the money, I'm not against that. But keeping Chelsea from being sold to hopefully "cleaner" owners, and keeping Chelsea fans from attending matches as well as disadvantaging the team in away matches due to a cap on spending for travel seems to punish the club and players, and not the people intended.

Perhaps I fail to put my thoughts into words well enough. And I won't comment further on this after this. What's happening right now is hurting even myself, so I can't begin to imagine what it's like for people close to the situation. It's horrible and it can't come to an end soon enough. Perhaps my moral compass isn't as well adjusted as that of some others, but it's not that broken that I don't see that.

{Ed014's Note - Jackson if putting an end to this meant Arsenal going out of existence I’d take it in a heart beat.

So for me it’s whatever it takes over that idiot starting WW3.

14.) 10 Mar 2022 14:58:32
I think all the gents were doing is discussing their football club and what could happen to it. I've no doubt that any of the posters would agree world peace and people's lives is/ are more important than football. I'm just of the opinion that they shouldn't be lectured to or questioned for discussing Chelsea on a Chelsea page. Your comments act like a form of censorship IMO.

{Ed014's Note - I’m not censoring anyone, my simple thoughts are whatever it takes to put a stop to Putin and if that meant the end of a football club, even my own, I’d take it in a heart beat.

15.) 10 Mar 2022 15:08:11
Leaving aside football, Jackson is right to take the U. K. government to task along with all the other European members of NATO. While Russia was building up its military and laundering money throughout Europe, the West cut its defence budgets and pandered to woke projects: Putin saw the weaknesses and took his opportunity. Even if, as I hope, Putin fails and democratic government is allowed to continue in Ukraine, they will never be allowed to join NATO or the EU- well done Europe- too little to late.

16.) 10 Mar 2022 15:38:22
Ed0114 - I hate war but if you think Americans has nothing to do with this Ukraine war you need to go and read some facts.

The same Ukrainian president has let Ukrainian soldiers bomb Donetsk for over 7 years where thousands of innocent people have died (I have family there so I know real situation and not western propoganda)

Only winners of this Ukranian war are Americans (NATO especially)
as they have promised Ukraine to help them in war against Russia but left them aside once Russians attacked.

Now Europeans will be dependant on American Gas/ Oils also NATO members will buy rubbishloads of weapons from Americans.

But this page is about Football not Politics.

{Ed014's Note - mate I’ve not even mentioned Americans being blameless let alone our country, a poster suggested we had American owners, we don’t.

They’re all wankers in my book but the only one threatening a nuclear war if he doesn’t get his way is a Russian prick.

For me it’s whatever it takes to stop that.

17.) 10 Mar 2022 15:56:40
Trying to unpick this mess is really a job. Obviously innocent people should come first in whatever situation – that's got to be the bottom line, as Dan and Ed014 have said. I don't personally believe these sanctions will make a blind bit of difference, because I don't believe Putin is listening to anyone right now, but on the chance they can, it's obviously more important than the fate of a club.

{Ed014's Note - and I’d take the demise of Arsenal in a heart beat if that meant and end to it but reality is it’s so much bigger than that.

18.) 10 Mar 2022 15:57:58
If the government were really serious though, they'd be finding a way of ditching Russian oil and gas. That would actually hurt Putin, as it would effectively cut off his funding for this war. But it would take the UK, Germany and Italy (and other European nations) taking a big hit. Are any of them, any of us, really prepared for that route? Would everyone in the country support that in the way they're supporting these showy sanctions? When the cost of living is spiralling anyway? I'm not so sure.

{Ed014's Note - I’m sure they’re in the process of doing that Ed.

19.) 10 Mar 2022 16:19:40
That's fair enough, Ed014. We agree on that.

{Ed014's Note - it’s just at this moment an unfortunate thing that Chelsea are owned by a Russian.

There are so many things wrong in this world, so many governments doing the wrong thing but all those things really do pale into insignificance when we have one government threatening annihilation of the whole of Europe and America for one man’s ends.

It’s vile for us all mate but more so those caught up in the middle of it.

20.) 10 Mar 2022 16:34:06
This whole debacle is the government tail wagging the dog because they want to publicly be seen to do something but not address the problem at hand, Putin. Do they honestly think sanctions against Roman or any other oligarchs or ex Russian government ministers will have any effect on Putin’s war actions? Do they really think they won’t have assets spread in other countries? As you can tell I feel very annoyed at how yet again our woke politicians act before they engage their brains.

21.) 10 Mar 2022 16:40:06
If anyone thinks these sanctions will stop Putin, the person should think again. Doesn’t Russia have a reason for fighting? Or are they just bombing Ukraine for no cause? I honestly don’t want to talk about this issue, but thank God the hopeless club (Chelsea) has been sanctioned, every body can sleep better now.
As an Entrepreneur, from a non NATO country, I will never dream of having a business in the UK. I best invest in my own country alone.

22.) 10 Mar 2022 17:11:28
Obinna you’re dead right about the hypocrisy in the West things are usually about money not people. The shame is football unites people across the world and brings joy. Unfortunately, I think Chelsea are doomed and I’m not keen on international football.

23.) 10 Mar 2022 20:42:21
Malaga.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Libya, Syria, all those bombs we sold for Saudi to drop on the Yemen.
You know we seized all of Libyas foreign wealth and assets too? Iraq's gold?

I detest war, the psychological effects should make the entire business a 'war crime', but this whole hypocritical moral excuse for theft is absurd.

I reckon yer club will be fine, it will get sold to some shady ass oligarch who we find politically acceptable and hopefully they'll be smart enough to keep the same people running the ship (which was obviously not Roman anyway) .

{Ed002's Note - And where did Britain buy the steel from for the munitions sent to Saudi?}

24.) 10 Mar 2022 21:40:18
Ed02, well it certainly wasn’t from British Steel Mills where hard working communities relied on it for a living.

{Ed002's Note - Yes’m there is no “Mad in Sheffield” stamp on the side.}

25.) 11 Mar 2022 02:15:56
Ed014, what is so wrong with us discussing the club we support on a forum dedicated to that club? Just because there is a war going on and innocent people are suffering, you expect us to drop the rest of our lives and only worry about that war?

As Jackson said before, I will not apologise for supporting a club that has brought me so much happiness. That doesn’t mean I don’t hope the wars end right now and that all people in the world are safe. Don’t believe that’s too hard to comprehend.

{Ed014's Note - “just because there is a war going on” Really ffs?‍♂️

26.) 11 Mar 2022 10:03:42
When you hear these politicians use the term 'Russian Oligarchs' and judge these Oligarchs, you think they are better human beings or even human beings at all, truth is- they are worse. Which billionaire is not a sort of Oligarch to his country’s government? And by show of hands which country is innocent? I think the freezing of Roman’s asset is myopic, ill advised and a witch-hunt.

Twenty years ago, no one saw anything wrong with Abramovich buying Chelsea; after some years when the league is now prosperous- suddenly dirt starts appearing on the same man that no one saw any blemish on (before he bought the club) . The question is: has Roman been trouble or corrupt in the UK or has he done any harm to the UK, it's citizens or it's environs for the past twenty years? as he continues to build the club? I think to now judge Roman Abramovich now, someone has to answer that question first.

My take is that- if the man’s crime cannot be categorically stated, I honestly think it’s cheap conspiracy, envy, jealousy, wickedness; and will eventually be a bad precedent to crank down on him because of issues between two stubborn leaders (Putin and Zelensky) .

Billionaires lobby governments everyday and everywhere (it's not new) ; they spend their moneys (on governments and individuals) so that their business can thrive and favourable policies that will help their business thrive can be introduced by governments. It not new that Billionaires sell goods to governments. A manufacturer's aim is to manufacture and sell goods to a wholesaler, retailer or consumer (as long as the good is not inimical to human existence) ; what the wholesaler, retailer or consumer eventually does with the goods is not the manufacturer's business.

27.) 11 Mar 2022 11:16:16
Obinna you should be ashamed to right that post.

28.) 11 Mar 2022 12:33:47
Write**.

29.) 11 Mar 2022 12:53:20
Yes Ed, do you want us all to drop our entire lives and focus on nothing but the war in Ukraine? Whilst it is horrible what is happening, I have my own personal concerns. Maybe that makes me selfish. Truth is none of us really care for anyone apart from our loved ones, because no one really cares for us except our loved ones. A lot of hypocrites in this world, at least I’m honest.

{Ed014's Note - if Putin has his way you won’t have a life but you crack on cheering Abramovich and thinking that’s all ok.

Honest isn’t the word I’d use. ?‍♂️

30.) 11 Mar 2022 14:02:32
malaga-gooner, I say again if you cannot say or tell the crime that Roman Abramovich has committed, then he has done nothing wrong and shouldn’t be sanctioned, if you keep saying that him (Abramovich) being a supporter of Putin’s administration is the reason why he should be sanctioned- you clearly do not have anything to say. Every billionaire from every country is directly or indirectly a supporter of his country- I mean every billionaire does more for his country, it doesn’t matter who the leader of the country is.

31.) 11 Mar 2022 18:05:15
The hypocrisy of some people is beyond belief.

I haven’t got a clue if Roman is a facilitator of Putin but the investigation of 2018 would suggest not. The latest rationale seems to be based on his majority share holding of a steel works. God for forbid every shell would have a stamp of “made in the U. K. ” on it.

I can understand why he hasn’t come out and expressed his personal disapproval of the war or the Russian regime. What a shock, he wants him and his family to stay alive.

I have zero love for any war and through my life I can only think of one I could support.

I have loved my club for just about sixty years and that love will continue for just a few days, weeks, months and hopefully years to come.

{Ed014's Note - I don’t give a toss if Abramovich is Putins best buddy or hates his guts.

I care that governments sanction every Russian billionaire, people with genuine power, so that as a group they can pressure that utter moron to stop his special operation aka war.

If that means they lose money, lose property, assets and their individual wealth it’s a small price to pay for a cessation of this ridiculous war based on nothing but an idiots want for god knows what.

They need to mtfu which includes RA.

32.) 11 Mar 2022 19:22:19
I’m not a judge or jury Ed.

My guess is that a jury or judge will decide if the sanctions imposed are legal or not. Let me just add that a judgement by judge or jury doesn’t make a persons actions morally right.

I do not care about any of the financial implications to my club or RA and like you I don’t care if RA likes Putin or hates his guts. He will, no doubt have his day in court and I will trust our judicial system.

I just love my club.

{Ed014's Note - totally get that Tom and the world has just been put in a shit position by an utter moron.

No one is to blame but him.

33.) 11 Mar 2022 20:02:08
Ed can I just make it clear if it’s proved that RA has in some way facilitated this war then fine let him hang.

If his crime is he has feathered his nest by being a friend of a despot I will look upon him more kindly than being a twit who made a leader into a despot.

We are are informed he gained his fortune on the back of a corrupt organisation becoming a capitalist corrupt
organisation. A little bit like BSC, Energy or Water suppliers when they de-nationalised.

34.) 11 Mar 2022 22:56:53
Who controls who? Is it Putin that controls the Oligarchs or the Oligarchs control Putin? Besides, is there a cult or an association called Russian Oligarchs or is it another hypothetical brainchild terminology used by men with their own agenda to describe rich billionaires that have ties to the Russian government- which brings up the question: what are those ties?
I am not being insensitive to the war that is happening between Ukraine and Russia and the loss of life and property- I think it’s really appalling and bad.
I have always respected and loved Roman Abramovich for the past 20years, I have not known, read or heard of any bad deeds from him. I still respect the man- for the fact that he pushed for peace talks, wants the proceeds from the club’s sale to go to Ukraine; he’s also fighting to make sure that the club is sold to someone that has the club’s and fans’ best interest at heart. This is what I know about Roman Abramovich and that is what I will judge him with; I don’t know of the skeletons in his cupboard and would never judge him with that.

Musiala is definitely beyond our reach right now, sadly so. No way, even if Bayern would somehow agree to sell him, would Musiala join a club outside of Champions League.

I'd love for him to return to Stamford Bridge, it's a damn shame he left at all (though hard to argue it didn't work out superbly well for the player), and he's a lovely player to watch. He'd be the next artist back at the Bridge, after Hazard. But we're simply not at the level right now where we can properly compete for players of Musiala's level.

We're currently at the max of international loan slots I believe. If we want to loan Ugochukwu to Nice (and I do agree that he would probably benefit from a loan move) we first need to end one of the current international loans (thinking that Moreira's loan to Lyon hasn't been a great success, to say the least. ) .

I haven't seen Diomande play really, but Todibo is an outstanding CB. Could complement Badiashile or Colwill very very well. Not sure how all CBs would be kept happy however in terms of playing time. Disasi still there as well, and let us hope that when Wes Fofana returns he wil avoid any more major injuries.

Hey, Ed. Out of interest, was the offer from Maatsen one from Burnley? He's such a fantastic young player, and it would be a shame to see him go. Though with Chilwell and Cucurella on big contracts in his spot (whether deservedly or undeservedly) it's hard to see how he'd feature.

Damn, really hoped Lavia would be our first choice option for midfield. If not Lavia, then Caicedo.

Thanks for the reply, Ed. And now that the season has almost ended and silly season is about to ramp up, best of luck to you and the other Eds :)

Agree completely with Ed001 here. Mudryk seems to have all the ability in the world. He can strike the ball cleanly on his shots, his technique and dribbling look excellent at times, and he's actually displayed some interesting creativity/ vision and passing technique.

But he forces the issue constantly, seemingly trying to prove too much to everyone that he's worth whatever the club paid for him. If he can learn to calm down on the pitch, read the game, and then pick his moments to go for the kill, then that would make him much better immediately. Ball retention for example is something he simply doesn't do, which leads to cheap turnovers and reduces the level of control the team can have in a game. The ability is there, just the application of it is not there yet. He might be 23 "already", but in terms of football experience he might be one of the youngest guys in the squad.

{Ed001's Note - that is something the coaches really should be working on. It doesn't seem to be clicking in his head yet though, as I have not yet seen any signs of improvement. Still, early days for him yet and sometimes it just needs one moment when a player does it right for them to twig on.}

I see your point on James, Ed001, and it's definitely something to monitor going forward. But Poch did just make him the team's captain. Hard to see him being full on replaced.

If they do get someone in to replace him surely the club would sell him. Clubs would be lining up to take Reece. His injury struggles are worrying and somewhat annoying, but when on the pitch he's a force like few other fullbacks in world football.

Cherki is one of the absolute best attacking talents that have burst onto the scene in the last years. His ball mastery is something you see in a player only every 5 or 10 years maybe. Ambipedal too.

He's one of the most creative players I've seen, great eye for a pass, and is a very strong dribbler. He's not like Doku who is an athletic freak with crazy acceleration, but through his exceptional control over the ball he can still take his man out. Should start adding a bit more goals too, remember that he's only 19 or 20 still.

Not the hardest working player defensively probably, but that's something that can be coached. And sometimes with elite attacking talents like him you let them expend a bit less energy on defense so they can carry you in attack (cfr. Eden Hazard) .

I would be very much in favour of getting Cherki if that's possible. Olise was my favourite option, and I'd also be fine with waiting a season and getting Olise next summer. But if Cherki is the alternative that'd also be fantastic for me.

Think I'd rather keep Broja in that case. We'll see how he comes back from the injury, but before that it was clear he had bags of potential.

Tchouameni (almost impossible) or Lucas Gourna-Douath (now at Salzburg, though Chelsea used to be interested when he was at Saint-Etienne) .
