Can anyone explain to me this fascination with central defenders this club has? Rumour after rumour it's a defender! Don't need defenders apart from a right back we desperately need flair players with the talent to match hazard.
Just haven't got the words to explain this club.
We are now reaping the awards of sacking manager after manager! Had the best and we not backed them then sacked them after being successful. Talk to me help me understand what's going on and how we move forward.

From your comment, we need more flair players (which is relatively true cos I also want us to play a balanced attacking football) but more flair players would mean less defenders (which means we will have to resort back to playing four at the back: 2 central defenders, a RB and a LB) ; and if we are going to succeed- playing with only 2 central defenders, they both must both be strong and solid.
The question is, asides Rudiger, how many central defenders in the current Chelsea squad do think can hold their own very well in a 4-man defense like Terry and Carvalho did in those days that made us stand out. I think if the incoming coach will wanna play with four at the back, he will need one very good central defender to compliment Rudiger assuming D. Luiz is leaving, Cahill is obviously passed his best days; Azpilicueta is good playing in a 3-man central defenders at the back formation or RB; Christensen still needs to build his stamina.
I think Conte saw the deficiencies in our defenders before he switched to his 3-4-2-1 formation that became a success (remember when he first came, he played four at the back and it didn't work he kept as asking for Koulibaly cos with a Central defender like Koulibaly, you can play 4 at the back and have a resolute defense. When he didn't get a defender like Koulibaly, he resorted to his 3-4-2-1 as to achieve defensive stability. )

Truth is no one has a clue what is going on which accounts for the ever more ridiculous rumours that you read.
The vast majority of rumours are 'clickbait' based on very little if any real evidence .
That said we have reason to be concerned given that the club is now without a single football person on the board and Roman clearly upset over the visa is issue.
Seems like a defining period for our club .

There's also this theory that; if you want a team (no matter how strong the team is) to keep winning consistently and stay motivated, you should freshen up it's personnel (coach) every 2-3 years- to encourage motivation for new challenge; the longer a coach stays- the more familiar he gets with his players and familiarity as you know breeds contempt etc.

Under the ownership the first team have won every domestic trophy several times.
The first team have also won the two major European tournaments
We have won the kids cup several times along with the
kids league and European cups.
We have now got a ladies team to be proud of and that also wins trophies and this season did the double.
The club have a fantastic standing in the local community and with the work in does with youngsters around the world.
We have a tip top training facility.
The season ticket prices have gone up ONCE in all the years RA has owned the club.
RA has been brilliant for our club and if he now decides that the club must be self sufficient, then that’s fine with me.
I will never question his commitment.

Personally I feel Roman has been losing interest and this whole visa issue is the final nail in the coffin. Why would you invest your own wealth into a club where you are being questioned by our government and not allowed in the country. This explains the stadium hold and also explains why we can't compete with Man City's, Man Utd's etc. The money spent Is from what we make!
The club Is self sufficient now which is good but maybe as fans we should probably lower our expectations as this will ensure we are not left disappointed. Recently a lot of fans have been left unhappy without our transfers, even the manager himself had a pop every other day. I for one will find it hard to lower my expectations after such a high form decades or so. Being a fan in the 90's was different, you wasn't being left too dissapointed because you had Low expectations.

KP82, well said mate. 1 word for our transfer/ manager activity and that is "Frustrating".
We are penny pinching over the biggest position in our team, the manager, as a result we are going to be slow off the mark again when it comes to transfers. Worst yet, How long will Sarri wait before he loses patience with Chelsea trying to sort out Conte's mess? Seems like more the usual for us. History repeating itself.
Already Man City, Liverpool, Man Utd are lining up their targets to pounce on them. We are still sorting out our manager.

CFCshak I totally agree mate we are standing still. I wouldn’t mind if the club was going to bleed in some youth then we would understand but to waste money on drinkwater and zappacosta (nearly £50m) and can’t get a deal done over a £3m difference between clubs then am fearful.

What is with this passing between the back 3 rubbish! They can do 10 passes between each other and still be on the edge of box. It never goes forward until we been forced back to tibo to punt it up top. Why don't we just do that anyway and cut out the pointless passes cos it's 1 stray pass away from letting the other team score. Morata is decent in the air get it up there and win second balls off him or make passes go forward not this side to side crap. Teams have sussed it they just let us do it cos it goes absolutely no where and they get into shape nice and compact then it makes it 10 times as hard to break down.

Agreed. The sideways passing between the back three drove me crazy yesterday. They never got over the halfway line and ended up booting it hopelessly up field every time. The passing was also so slow, no zip or anything about it. Frustrating to watch.

This club is drastically short in depth and quality! Need at least 4 class signings not the ox and especially not drinkwater! We need players like sanches or seri and wingbacks like the bloke from psg and Sandro. Even though I like alonso but we need depth! One loooooong season incoming hope Kyle Scott is ready 😂😂 couldn't make this crap up.

Ed. Calling referees stupid names on social media is something that fans might understand but calling a teammate a stupid clown your manager a homophobic and chining a copper, can't all be down to mixing with a bad crowd!
Let the Spuds or Utd have the problem. My opinion is he is a good player but not worth the risk!

It is frustration that is causing the posts and the habit of many latching on to any name mentioned in the hope we will buy when most would not even be considered by the club, it is separating fact from fiction. However, as champions going into a new season as unprepared for the additional challenges we face this season, is in my opinion, an error. After today, two games in and we have not got a full, settled squad puts us on the back foot when the two Manchester clubs and Liverpool are hitting the ground running.

Am sorry but what a farce this transfer window has been! Talk about winning the league and going 100 steps back.
1 to 11 yes we look good but 14 first team players I heard that's something a cash strapped league 2 side would have going into a new season! 4 major comps this season and we hanged conte out to dry.
As it stands no way we getting top 4 we 5/ 6 players short and I don't see us adding that amount cos teams know we desperate and will increase the players value and we won't pay!

Judge when the window closes, the market has gone crazy and teams are looking for as much money as possible for their players. It's why a lot of teams have struggled with doing business. We've lost players only cause they've wanted out (Matic, Costa, Ake and Chalobah) and it's not easy finding suitable replacements without spending a ridiculous amount. We'll sign a few more players before the window ends no doubt, whether we make improvements to our starting eleven is questionable though and we'll have to wait and see. We definitely have the money to do so, but i don't see the board spending a lot just for the sake of it.

Conte will not be leaving. He continues to talk about the "Chelsea project" and I'm sure he will be at the bridge at the end of the season when we are picking up the trophies.
I am dissapointed in the sales of Chalaboa and Ake but as I've said before, we are a club that will try and persuade good players to stay but if they are determined to go, we let them go!

He said himself he needs to be more patient. I understand his digs at the board but it isn't going to help him and all it's doing is making our fan base more toxic. He isn't going to get all of his targets in one window, like he said it's a project, it'll take time to build his team and as long as the club backs him he'll get it. Bakayoko and Morata were his targets and we've got them. Van Dijk and Sandro are his targets and we've been trying but they aren't exactly easy to get. It's not like his targets have been ignored, the market has changed, unless the player forces it, it'll take a long time to get things done.

Well, unlike Conte, Mourinho. had full squad. They've not sold players to Mourinho as they did to Conte. If board doesn't sign at least 4 players by 1 September Conte might walk away.
TBH I'm very unhappy with that possibility.

What I don't get is that we are 7th richest club in the world but we don't pay the money like city etc etc they just pay up and get deals done! Why is there a penny pinching approach in the transfer market.
Just seems every team pays out and FFP doesn't get mentioned.
