The best signing of the summer for us was Conte. Things could of gone bad for us today considering the defeat at Spurs and the Costa fiasco .
He sent the boys out today with a clear head and a purpose and a 3-0 victory away from home without our star striker speaks volumes .
He is a breath of fresh air and the guy just oozes class. His handling of the media after a very tricky last few days was superb and his passion and leadership from the touch line yet again was amazing.
I haven't taken to a new manager and believed in his methods the way I do in Conte since the first time " the special one" took over and every other fan I know feels the same.
I really feel we have something special happening at the club under Conte and he can lead us on to great things again!

Completely agree, Conte was always my first choice for a new manager, and so far he has done nothing but impress me. His tactical approach to the game is arguably unrivalled, while on the same time he has an extensive knowledge of all of his players' strengths and weaknesses. Furthermore, the way he has changed the players is astounding. During the summer, most people here were screaming for Pedro to be sold, now he's one of our most important players, David Luiz was a questionable defensive signing, but has turned into one of the best defenders in the league, but most impressive is how he has turned Moses from loan reject to a profile.

2.) 15 Jan 2017 01:04:48
Love him to bits already what a fantastic manager we have so respectful also.

3.) 15 Jan 2017 13:50:03
Just to add a little negative, I personally believe he needs to bring on subs earlier. Both when losing and winning. But overall I cannot really find fault in what he's done so far and long may it continue!

We have all had our favourite Chelsea players over the years with some of the obvious ones being Zola, Drogba, Lampard, Essien etc I'm just curious to see who everyone's unsung hero is?

For me growing up my favourite player when I was in my teens was alway Dan Petrescu, one of the best right backs the club has ever had. The guy was a machine, great in the tackle and an absolute beast going forward. He had an amazing cross on him and scored a fair amount of goals for us as well, some of them absolute beauty's. He never really got the credit he truly deserved in my eyes but for me he will always be a legend!

Anyway it's Dan for me, very interested to see if any of you guys have any players to add.

SuperFrank08

1.) 19 Aug 2016 18:09:33
Poyet was a great player for us. There's a few unsung players gudjohnsen, di matteo and cudicini.

2.) 19 Aug 2016 18:52:35
Agree with every single one of them Gudjohnsen especially! I remember towards the end of Jose's first reign as manager he was moved from striker to a number 9 role and played so well that he was signed for Barca! Great player, scored some fantastic goals for us.

3.) 19 Aug 2016 18:54:30
Not necessarily an unsung hero whilst playing for the club but Florentine Malouda never really gets a mention when we talk about Chelsea's best players. He's definitely one of my favourites, was unreal in our prem win under Carlo!

4.) 19 Aug 2016 19:06:23
Malouda definitely had his purple patches for us and as you said he was amazing that season and scored a hell of a lot of goals. I was always sad about the way his Chelsea career fizzled out, he ended up getting dropped from the first team squad and sent to play with the reserves over a transfer refusal or something like that if I remember correctly?

5.) 19 Aug 2016 19:33:23
Le saux just like petrescu hasselbaink was mine only if we had him now.

6.) 19 Aug 2016 19:37:14
Petrescu is a great shout, and I'm not just saying that because I'm Romanian. Anelka would be my second.

7.) 19 Aug 2016 19:41:37
Jimmy floyd hasslebaink is mine. Always felt he was going to score! Loved him! Gus poyet aswell was great!

8.) 19 Aug 2016 19:52:27
Jimmy was quality, he had a rocket of a shot and scored some worldies!
Poyet was one of the best headers of a ball we have had and I remember being at the game at the bridge when he scored that volley against Sunderland that won goal of the season. Zola scooped it over the defence and Guss Aspillia volleyed it top bins! Amazing goal.

9.) 19 Aug 2016 19:56:16
Peter ÄŒeh.

10.) 19 Aug 2016 20:03:42
Some great players there! JFH was unbelievable, he'd be worth a fortune now! Loved Carlo Cudicini, Dan Petrescu and Di Matteo. I wouldn't agree with Malouda, didn't rate him personally, if you're talking wingers who were unsung heroes then Damien Duff needs a mention. Without Jesper Gronkjaer's goal against Liverpool we never would have gotten Roman Abramovich to buy us so he's an important player.
Over the years I used to love Tore Andre Flo, Bjarne Goldbaek for his screamers, Poyet for his flare and Dennis Wise for his tenacity!
Special mentions to the flops too! Winston Bogarde, Gabriel Ambrosetti and Chris Sutton coming to mind haha.
One player I was always gutted for was Pierluigi Casiraghi who started off great but tore his ACL and left afterwards!
It's nice to look back and think of the swashbuckling style we used to have! I'll never forget that night in Tromso on route to the European Cup Winners Cup final when Vialli scored with his arse in the snow! Good times!

11.) 19 Aug 2016 20:11:28
Some great memories there Chelsea Nick, we certainly have had some top players over the years. Vialli in Tromso is definitely one I will never forget haha.

12.) 19 Aug 2016 20:13:27
Ps Gavin Peacock gets a special mention from me, my first real Chelsea hero. Might be giving my age away here lol.

{Ed001's Note - is 08 the year you were born? 1908 I mean.....}

13.) 19 Aug 2016 20:27:54
No ed001 the 08 is for no8 for Lampard.

{Ed001's Note - it's ok mate, you have given it away now, no point trying to cover it up.....}

14.) 19 Aug 2016 20:37:07
SuperFrank08 how could we forget Michael Duberry for his amazing ability to score spectacular own goals haha. Used to love Frank Sinclair's passion for the team too, he loved the club, but he was prone to the odd worldie of an own goal!

15.) 19 Aug 2016 20:51:56
Worst player award goes to slavisa jokanovic. Better manager than player haha! Can't forget to give mark Hughes a mention. That special night against Vicenza lives long in my memory.

Leon knight was going to be massive. How wrong we were! High expectations for Sam dalla bonna aswell but that never panned out!

16.) 19 Aug 2016 20:57:23
Haha always had a soft spot Duberry, he certainly made up for what he lacked in quality with enthusiasm. Always remember him for his goal against United 😃
Pretty sure Sinclair is still at the club in some capacity?

17.) 19 Aug 2016 22:01:51
Sam Dalla Bonna! Remember when Jon Harley was the next big thing?
Pretty sure Frank Sinclair presents on Chelsea TV!

18.) 19 Aug 2016 22:07:34
Mikel.

19.) 19 Aug 2016 23:58:54
Ruud Gullit - the Chelsea we all see now started with him.

20.) 20 Aug 2016 03:22:57
claude makelele for me tops the list!

21.) 20 Aug 2016 09:01:00
frank leboeuf and marcel desailly wat a pairing.

22.) 20 Aug 2016 10:30:29
Always going to love my childhood heros. Earland Johnson. Steve Clarke. Jacob kjeldbjerg. Phelan tearing down the pitch and of course Scot Minto.
Miss the passion of the crowd in those days.
Random memory of Frank Sinclair. We used to sit behind the goal in the shed end. We were defending a corner and yelled "sort em out frankie" at lebeouf to get us organised. Frank sinclair started pointing fingers and yelling at positions. Now that could of been a coincidence but still a funny moment in my life as a Chelsea boy.

Been away for a while so first post in ages . Was just wanting people's opinions on a subject me and my mates have been discussing.

If JT does leave then Diego Costa as captain

I'd be all for it, that captains armband means a lot and I reckon with his aggression, desire and possible leadership he could be the man?

SuperFrank08

{Ed018's Note - I'm not even sure the guy speaks English. I'm not sure this would be a good idea but that's my opinion}

1.) 06 May 2016 23:24:46
Respect your opinion ed of course, but I just reckon if he could channel his agressive into something and have that responsibility, he would make a great leader and therefore captain. John Terry was no saint before he became the legend he his today .

2.) 07 May 2016 00:11:07
If he does stay, I'll give Hazard, Azpi and Fabregas would also be great choices I feel.

3.) 07 May 2016 07:40:37
Still my choice from a discussion last Summer. I'd pick Azpilicueta all day long. Model professional - with the right trust and guidance could be our version of Lahm.

4.) 07 May 2016 16:13:17
Azi for me. Done his time, must have digested a lot from Terry and a defender. Could make a good captain.

5.) 07 May 2016 17:55:27
Not enough leaders in this team. I like the idea of Costa but too risky I think. Hazard would be a bad shout (although I do love him) and I'm starting to see a lot of negatives in Azpi's game and he hasn't stepped up and showed much leadership this season. As much as I wish we had a better option, I think Cesc is the only option at this time.

6.) 08 May 2016 01:19:09
hazard or cesc for me say what you want about him but when he is confident he is so influencial cesc too.

15 Aug 2015 18:39:08
Marco Reus looking amazing for Dortmund this afternoon. How is he still there, surely he would be perfect for us?

SuperFrank08

1.) 15 Aug 2015 19:55:42
Him on the right, Eden on the left and were up there with the best.

2.) 15 Aug 2015 21:07:35
We should "steere" well clear apparently he is not a good driver or something! I am so annoyed as we could have had him instead of cuadrado. Ridiculous decision by the club!

3.) 15 Aug 2015 21:15:14
He really is world class but still at Dortmund . There must be something wrong with him ie either injury or something going on in his personal life that stops the bigger clubs signing him. He could walk straight in to our starting lineup along with many other teams.

4.) 15 Aug 2015 22:50:32
Seem to remember an Ed saying he was fined a lot for driving without a licence for years and then did it again or something? Bad reputation puts clubs off especially as Dortmund paid the fine ( I think, could be wrong )

5.) 16 Aug 2015 10:50:12
I wonder what my employer would say if I asked him to pay my driving fines!?

DiscountDave would united be signing Fabinho as a right back or a holding midfielder tho? If it's as a holding mid then I'm afraid that your midfield will be in all kinds of trouble mate. He is far to indisciplined and gets caught out of position far to many times, luckily Monaco had Bakayoko to cover for his mistakes last season ( oh the irony) . Fabinho' s natural and best position is at right wing back so even if he did sign I can still see Jose coming in for Matic aswell.

If I was an opposing side I would be a lot more worried about playing against a midfield with Kantes energy, Bakayokos sheer power and directness and Cescs passing and technical genius than what you have mentioned above Jackson . I don't think we will have to worry too much about moving on Matic mate.

Stringest midfield Jackson? Pogba, matic, Herrera and feillani? Taking into account that we are probably selling matic to united then only one of them players would get anywhere near our 1st eleven and that would be pogba, but the Juve Pogba not the shower of crap that turned in for United last season.

Totally agree with Adam. In his first season at Chelsea he looked liked a world beater, but since then he has really failed to impress. He's looked very clumsy and lacks that attacking edge that we have needed more in games. Some of our best performances last season have been in games that he sat out and Fabregas started along side Kante instead.
From what I've seen of Bakayoko he is a great ball winner but also looks to drive forward and start attacking plays rather than just pass the ball backwards and sideways like matic and also has youth on his side and is nowhere neare his prime yet.
By all means united will be signing a strong premiership player in matic and will certainly be an upgrade on feillani but im very happy with the clubs decision to sell matic on and upgrade with bakayoko.

Mauro Icardi would be my first choice. I got slated on here last time I mentioned him but personally I think he would be the perfect choice. Technically great, clinical finisher, great in the air and full of aggression. No way in hell Inter would sell him tho, but hey I can at least dream.

RVD I think that will be the plan, move Dave back to right back with Moses as cover. Would leave us with Cahill, Luiz, Christensen and Zouma as centre halfs with the possibility of another one being brought in ie VVD or Bonucci.

Haha Wheelycfc - I had a few Gullit 4 shirts growing up aswell! I think the first shirt I ever got with a players name on the back was the old grey and orange away kit ( hedious kit, but I loved it) with Gavin Peacock on it and had a green and purple goalie shirt with Kharine, how times have changed!

33 and basically since the day I was born. My dad drummed Chelsea into my head from a very early age and started taking me to matches from the age of 5. So many great memory's from growing up and watching games at the bridge, I was a very lucky kid. Chelsea FC bonded me and my old man together and even tho we don't get down the bridge much these days we still watch every match we possibly can together.
