Matt Law who is usually pretty good on all things Chelsea is reporting that Petrovic asked to be left out of the CWC squad to "focus on his future. " Whatever that means.

If it's do with him "wanting" to leave then good luck to the lad.

If that is the case Tom, fair enough.

With Nkunku, not sure why he has been included in the squad.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 21:39:58
Bill, Nkunku is our player and was in the Chelsea squad last season. As far as we know he will be in our squad next season.

Extremely doubtful Tom.

12 Jun 2025 11:05:32
Bill, I doubt it as well but until or if we start getting offers we would be stupid not to include in the squad.

On top of that rotation in this competition is going to viral. He may well get a few games.

A few rumours that Maresca is behind the Mike Maignan transfer and that the club are backing him over Ben Roberts and that Roberts might get binned off to those happy hammers with Sanchez following? I'm sure ED02 would be telling me "twitter is this? "😁.

RPD, just being reported that the deal for MM is off.

I guess that will bring about outrage from some supporters.

Tom,

Not sure on his attitude, demanding a transfer otherwise he will go on a free transfer.

Let's give Petrovic a chance.

Agree1 0Disagree

10 Jun 2025 16:33:18
Bill, the strange thing is I have always rated MM and was number two on my list of potential GK signings until his form dropped of in a team that didn’t perform to its best last season. I’m not going to condemn him after one poor season but if you look at our keepers and him and there performance levels last season, I think Petrovic should start the season as our No1.

The big problem is, I think they will sell Petrovic.

Just one small add on and something I don’t recall anyone mentioning about the conference league cup final was the magnificent save Jorgensen made when we were 1-0 down.

Agree0 0Disagree

10 Jun 2025 20:24:12
It doesn’t mean the transfer won’t happen in the normal window. Fair play to the club standing their ground on the fee with an Italian club. I just hope that carries on in the summer for unproven young players.

Agree0 0Disagree

10 Jun 2025 20:28:31
We don't need to panic Tom, he is a good pick up at the right price and the window opens again next week when I expect another bit of brinkmanship will happen. 2 young keepers have left, Kepa is off to Arsenal and Bettinelli is off to City so a clear out of sorts is happening. Sanchez is wanted by Potter and that might well happen. Petvovic is wanted by many and I think he might go as well. We will start the CWC with Sanchez but I expect the new season will be with Maignan between the sticks.

Agree1 0Disagree

10 Jun 2025 21:25:35
RPD, as I said in a post a few days ago I’m not that fussed if we don’t sign MM given his form last season.

I will be disappointed if we sell Petrovic but I have a feeling that is what will happen.

Agree1 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 08:52:30
I really hope not and if the club sell him, then the SD's are even worse than I thought and that is practically impossible based on my previous thoughts.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 09:29:23
Bill, I guess the coaches and owners will decide if Petrovic has a Chelsea future.

I would keep him but I also acknowledge it’s impossible to make fans including me happy with the sale of some players plus some signings.

We have lots of keepers and it’s only a few months ago that a debate on this site ensued about how ridiculous it was to have so many. If they sell a couple now that’s fine and the fact they might not be my choices is understandable given I’m just a fickle fan.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 14:03:38
Petrovich not currently included in the CWC squad (Andrey Santos the only loan player to have been) so that seems to give a strong indication as to the club's thinking. I don't understand it, personally. Nor why he was even sent on loan and Sanchez installed as our no.1 last season.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 14:46:25
Edw, I think that Sancho being named in the CWC squad had been pre-agreed. I’m not sure how many returning loan players will be in this evenings named squad.

I have to say that I wasn’t overly convinced by Petrovic when he got his first team opportunity under Poch. My guess is they believed that Jorgensen was a better bet ever as 1st team keeper or cover. To be fair Jorgensen did very little wrong when called upon in various competitions.

Agree0 0Disagree

11 Jun 2025 15:52:39
I'm excited to see Santos in our midfield.

That's interesting about Petrovich, Tom. After years of dodgy keepers he seemed to be a much safer pair of hands to me, though I do remember him being beaten a number of times by shots at the near post – a strange weakness to have. His stats in Ligue 1 from the season just gone are fantastic, with his kicking improving as well, but perhaps it's a weaker league.

Jorgensen has looked decent to me. Doesn't give me the fear like Sanchez consistently does, but on the other side nothing really caught my eye in a positive way (beyond one fantastic save in the Conference League I think you've mentioned elsewhere) . Did also give away that penalty against Ipswich, though arguably Delap dived and conned both ref and VAR? (Wonder how they'll get on this season? ) Overall much more solid to my eyes than Sanchez, but that's not saying much, and hard to judge on so few performances, plus clearly wanting to impress/ nerves during that tiny window he was given as first choice.

Please tell me we are not entertaining Ā£85m for Mohammed Kudas! From what I have seen of this lad there is no consistency to his game, he appears moody, doesn’t score or set up many. where have the hammers plucked that figure from? I’d rather play these young Brazilians I’ve only heard great things about.

So many rumours about and probably about 1% are correct which is why the late great ED02 was such a legend. His reply to your post would of been " Is this twitter? "

Agree1 0Disagree

06 Jun 2025 17:38:52
Quite right RPD and ED002 remains greatly missed.

One general question for all in this transfer period is should we break our waghe structure or not to get the likes of an Osimhen or Gyokeres or Rodrygo and if so which one would you think was woth doing this for if any. Or is there someone else perhaps?

Agree0 0Disagree

06 Jun 2025 20:23:35
I think Delap will really surprise a few people next season, he is a top talent and very much an old school throwback. Gyokeres and Osimhen are big no thankyou for me but Rodyrgo is a big yes as is Eze of Palace but I don't think we are linked to any of them?

Agree0 0Disagree

07 Jun 2025 08:34:50
There has been some media speculation about Rodrygo being available and of CFC interest but could well get tha Ed002 ' Twitter? ' response but I would also be very keen if so. But chances are he'd stay at RM I'd think.

Nico Williams another name that has popped up as a possibility but we get vaguely linked to almost every big player who may or mat not be on the move

I think Osimhen almost certainly off to Saudi. Not sure about Gyokeres destination.

{Ed077's Note - I would expect Rodrygo to move this summer

07 Jun 2025 08:35:42
PS to my knowledge we have not been linked at all to Eze.

{Ed077's Note - too old for the club now no ?

07 Jun 2025 13:22:23
Thanks Ed077 recon you're right on both fronts.

{Ed077's Note - Eze isn't that good anyways, and specially not a value for money signing if the 68m release clause is true

Does anyone know if we are interested in Rogers from Villa?

Not sure what's happening with mudryk, maybe he will get a ban.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

06 Jun 2025 17:36:11
He has been mentioned as of interest in the past Steve - and Tom for one on this site has been impressed by him against CFc in past - but not strongly linked and little mention in recent days to my knowledge. Anything possible still but would Villa want to part with him?!

Agree0 0Disagree

06 Jun 2025 19:09:44
JBS, I don’t think I’ve mentioned Roger’s as one of my main choices but I do think he is a good player.

My preferences were as follows:-

GK=Costa
ST=Sesko
CH=The young lad who went to RM.
Winger=Simmons or Gittens.

Im happy withe our midfield with our players coming back from loans.

08 Jun 2025 08:54:45
Tom

I think we should just give Petrovic another chance, his confidence is high and he has another years experience under his belt.

The striker situation, God only knows as it seems Ann the top named strikers are already earmarked for other clubs, maybe be we should just keep what we have now apart from Nkunku.

I would keep Chabs, sell Dessasi and Fofana if we can get a decent fee for him. nor sure who I would want to come in if I'm honest, like out and out strikers, the CH role seems to have changed over the last few years therefore not sure who would be good enough for the prem.

As regards to our wingers, we are still unsure as to what is happening with Mudryk but why not keep giving George a chance to fulfil his promise.

Agree0 0Disagree

08 Jun 2025 11:02:53
Bill, I would be happy to give Petrovic another run in the first team and unlike some I would only sign a GK of top quality and for me that’s Costa.

I think we will get in another CF and that looks like being Entike.

I think a short term loan for Fofana would be a wise move but I also think we will sign the young CH/ LB from Ajax. I think Disasi and BB (sadly) will leave.

I think George will go out on loan as will Kellyman. I’m told there have been lots of enquiries about both players in the premiership and championship.

As approximately twice as many players left the club in last summer’s window than joined and it’s very likely to be a similar ratio in this window, we do need to sign talented players. Let’s home we have more hits than misses.

If true, my guess is the club are going to cancel his contract and maybe not pay any transfer balance that may be due.

Fresh links to Mike Maignan, who admittedly is becoming the goalkeeping version of Hulk, today.

It'd definitely make sense, upgrading what we have, adding leadership and experience to the lineup. Plus he's perfect age to be a bridge between now and Penders potentially developing in our number one.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

03 Jun 2025 12:23:07
I was a fan of his but Costa is a far superior keeper and he would be my choice all day long.

Agree1 1Disagree

03 Jun 2025 15:42:23
Mike Maignan is one of the top 10 keepers in Europe and would be a great signing but is it just conjecture?

Agree0 0Disagree

03 Jun 2025 20:34:29
Interesting – I remember when we were linked with him in 2020 and went for Mendy instead due to the price Lille set on him. There was a stats comparison between the keepers we were linked with on WAGNH at the time, and he didn't come out of that looking great, but I think he's improved a lot since then. Wasn't he missing for AC Milan for a fair chunk of the season last year though? Adding another injury-prone player seems mad, especially when Petrovich was the Ligue 1 keeper of the year.

Agree0 0Disagree

03 Jun 2025 21:05:36
It appears Petrovic has a release clause in his contract following his loan and has activated it which totally rules him out of the equation! I would just go with Sanchez who has improved as the season has gone on and put him up against young Penders and Jorgi.

Agree0 0Disagree

03 Jun 2025 23:55:16
Can we sign Emi Martinez instead?

04 Jun 2025 08:35:50
RPD

not sure how a player can activate a release clause.

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 09:09:49
Like you Bill I also have no idea how these things work but it is widely reported that part of his loan to Strasbourg involved an option for him to leave the club at the end of the deal and he has activated that option.

04 Jun 2025 17:36:36
I had thought Kelleher might have been a target. Certainly been impressed by him. But gather he is off to Brentford.

Haven't watched either Maignan or Costs so don't know who is better.

But are either better than Petrovich?

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 19:21:19
JBS, I personally think that Kelleher is bang average.

If we can’t get Costa then let’s not bother would be my preferred outcome.

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 19:35:08
More to the point JBS are any of them better than Sanchez (based on form since being dropped in February)? At 6 feet 7 he is very strong in the air and his shot stopping is exellent, 10 clean sheets in 32 games with a very different back 4 in front of him most of the season. It is maybe not a coincidence that when Maresca changed his tactics towards the end of the season and started to go longer when needed as opposed to the pathetic tip tappy back passes Sanchez looked way more assured and cut out the costly errors that come with over playing from the back. We also settled on a steady back 4 with the group looking far more compact and again led to improved keeper performaces. I'm not totally convinced but a lot more Chelsea fans on the other forums are starting to say the same thing, should we just stick with Sanchez? It also appears the club will not pay what Milan want so Mike Maignan will not happen (shame, because he would provide very decent competition for Sanchez) and I do believe Petrovich has asked to leave. Kelleher is no better than what we currently have and who else is available? Trafford from Burnley would be my choice if Maignan doesn't arrive but I think he is Newcastle bound? We await with interest.

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 21:59:57
RPD, this may sound as if I have got a downer on all keepers but if Trafford is on our radar I would be astonished. He may well improve over time but as things stand today he seems to me to be way overrated.

Agree0 0Disagree

05 Jun 2025 16:30:49
RPD. have you had a bump on the head. a couple of decent games surely can't convince you sanchez is even close to being good enough. the man was 3rd choice for brighton and doesn't get into the majority of sides in the league. he's nervous and looks likely to gift a goal to the opposition in almost every game i've seen him play.

Agree0 0Disagree

06 Jun 2025 05:43:20
I would rather stick with Sanchez/ Jorgenson than some of the keepers we have been linked to in including Martinez at Villa.

The keepers at Liverpool, Arsenal, Newcastle and Forest are good but I can’t think of many others that are to far above average.

As I’ve said before I was big fan of MM but the standout keeper, who might be available is Costa and I would go for him.

Agree0 0Disagree

07 Jun 2025 14:33:03
Tom, I agree about Costa but I think that boat has sailed . He had a release clause of €60 million last summer and we stuck with Sanchez. Now Man City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona are after him.

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Jun 2025 04:38:43
Jimbo, we have more than one keeper.

The fact that other clubs are after him doesn’t mean that we shouldn’t be or that he wouldn’t prefer to be in London playing for Chelsea.

03 Jun 2025 11:38:25
I was just talking to a fellow ST holder about potential signings and sales.

I expressed my very slight surprise that apparently Noni has a "For Sale" sign attached to his name. He told me that the lad has real discipline issues and has been read the riot act several times by EM.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

03 Jun 2025 20:02:57
His attitude has always looked a bit off – sulky at times, Ā called out publicly earlier in the season by Maresca, and also dropped for a while (I think) by Poch due to the same, party lifestyle and poor training, something like that.

But on the pitch he's probably our only winger who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. though he doesn't seem to do it often enough. Still, so young, and if he can put his head down there's a great player in there. Has improved massively since last year, and that was an improvement on the year before, so the idea that his development has stalled doesn't fly. I honestly don't know where I stand on this one. He's frustrated me massively at times but also has been the best of our wingers overall I think (not a massively high bar this season) .

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 15:13:05
EdW, I wouldn’t be that bothered if Noni goes. I agree that none of our wingers have been impressive. As for Noni he gives the appearance of being one of those young players who think they are better than they are and don’t need to improve or develop. I don’t believe he has the mentality to become top class.

Agree0 0Disagree

04 Jun 2025 17:34:47
I think I agree with that assessment Jimbo, although sometimes it just takes the right moment for a young player to realise they're letting their career/ talent slip away. Another argument for having a healthy number of serious, hardworking senior pros in a squad – Noni's attitude does seem to reflect a general culture in this team (stropping when things don't go their way, in particular – look at the number of yellow cards we've had over the past couple of seasons) . I'm not sure this current environment would be the right one for him to find that moment, unfortunately, but do think he could become a very good player (after an epiphany) .

Agree0 0Disagree

09 Jun 2025 08:23:28
I’m not sure about ā€œstroppingā€ but I agree about yellow cards received for verbals to the officials is far to frequent.
