gola, to be fair to Standard and others who have continued to be negative, our results deserved criticism.
I would argue that we have generally played better than the results but it’s points that will dictate if this season is except-able.

We now move on to Monday and a west London derby. These games are always tough and Poch will have some big team selection decisions to make.

We are getting some players back to match fitness and todays news that James could be ready to play in about three weeks helps. Nkunku being ahead on his recovery process is also good news, if true.

On a side note, I do think the official Chelsea site could have an injury update page. I have emailed that suggestion to the club along with reinstating CTV.

Hi gola, I replied to one of the comments on here regarding the game. Not sure where it is now. Happy with the win, could only catch bits of the second half, saw Jackson's 'offside goal' but other than that, nothing.

I'm not going to be reactionary to one win in the carabao cup. Is that what we've come too? Standards really have dropped.

I remember him saying Enzo was worse than Gallagher. Stopped taking him serious after that. Enzo is our best player he showed that against Liverpool.

Magic, I think it's hard to argue enzo has been better than Gallagher for chelsea thus far, and that was my statement. Enzo has not done enough yet, though I'm sure that it will come.

Dadublin, not sure if you've realised that but we've won 4 games this year, it hasn't been one loss, it's been 20 of them.

Football has a tendency to bring out all sorts of emotions/ reactions from fans but you using the word “reactionary” has to up there with one of the best kettle black comments ever on this site.

Go nuts tom, we've won 4 games in a year. I'm not going to start getting arrogant and thinking we've suddenly turned the corner when there's no evidence for that. Truth is we've lost over 20 games this year. It's not good enough and one game doesn't change that. let's see how we go.

Not sure what part arrogance has played in any post or conversation about the win in midweek. Most people have been reasonably horizontal about that result.

If we started a mini run of good results I don’t think the majority of supporters would get carried away. They certainly wouldn’t be “reactionary”.

We all know that last season is over. We have started a new season with some new signings and a new manager and lots of injuries. Our football has generally been ok and we have played better than the results suggest in my opinion.

That I can agree with Tom. We haven't played half bad. Definitely unacceptable where we are on the table after the investment, however.

Standard, your maths are off mate. We have won 8 games this year (if you’re not including friendlies) . Yes that includes some cup matches, however if you are talking premier league only, then your maths is still off as we have lost 16 - not 20.

cech, interesting but I just leave last season’s performances behind when a new season starts.

We start this season and every season in the same position as every other team and I judge our team on THAT season’s results.

People use stats that support their own arguments.
