If we are to appoint Alonso as he's available, should we do it before the end of the season?
Got the cup final and he would have a chance to work with the players before season's end and also judge their mood.

No, not for me. I think that he has a very set way of playing and trying to implement that in such a short window of time would confuse matters even more. A couple of bad results, or a negative result in the cup final, and he's on the back foot straight away. Let him start a fresh, have pre-season, and plan for the new season without the risk of being tainted by the circus that has been this season.

From looking at all the options, Alonso has become my personal first choice for the role.

But, if we were to confirm him before the end of the season, his time would be better spent observing from a distance and agreeing a transfer plan with the SDs. His involvement in that would, as widely reported, be a condition of him coming into the club.

As for the FA Cup, that's really become our everything for this season. We just have to hope that Man City have an eye on the league run in and can be caught off guard.

Jbs, not sure that would work and we may as well just see out the season with Callum as we should have done with Maresca!

J, Good post as usual, mate, and I agree completely with your sentiments.

Greenaway,

Maresca threw his toys out of the pram and took his ball with him, crying that he did not want to be our coach anymore. What does the club do in that scenario?
