Matt Law who is usually pretty good on all things Chelsea is reporting that Petrovic asked to be left out of the CWC squad to "focus on his future. " Whatever that means.
If it's do with him "wanting" to leave then good luck to the lad.
1.) 11 Jun 2025 21:18:10
If that is the case Tom, fair enough.
With Nkunku, not sure why he has been included in the squad.
2.) 11 Jun 2025 21:39:58
Bill, Nkunku is our player and was in the Chelsea squad last season. As far as we know he will be in our squad next season.
3.) 12 Jun 2025 09:05:29
Extremely doubtful Tom.
4.) 12 Jun 2025 11:05:32
Bill, I doubt it as well but until or if we start getting offers we would be stupid not to include in the squad.
On top of that rotation in this competition is going to viral. He may well get a few games.
05 Jun 2025 18:02:34
Anyone know anything about this young 18 year old Polish defender called Bright Ede we are apparently about to sign?
1.) 05 Jun 2025 19:59:29
Considered as one of the top young defensive prospects in world football at the moment Tom . Both Madrid teams, Bayern and Inter are looking at him, would be a coup if we sign him .
2.) 05 Jun 2025 20:24:26
Hdkn, thanks for the info mate. He sounds like another coup!
3.) 05 Jun 2025 21:03:46
No problem Tom, he looks like a very exceptional talent for his age . I’m of Polish decent and have a lot of family over there and he’s very high regardeed.
4.) 09 Jun 2025 17:23:14
fantastic. throw him on the pile with the othe 97 great prospects we've signed.
5.) 09 Jun 2025 18:38:21
As approximately twice as many players left the club in last summer’s window than joined and it’s very likely to be a similar ratio in this window, we do need to sign talented players. Let’s home we have more hits than misses.
05 Jun 2025 10:44:10
I understand that Palmer is taking the No 10 Mudryk shirt?
If true, my guess is the club are going to cancel his contract and maybe not pay any transfer balance that may be due.
1.) 05 Jun 2025 11:43:19
Cole taking the 10 shirt shows his commitent to us Tom! some of the pundits and punters bigging up him moving on can now sit down and shut up. ?.
2.) 05 Jun 2025 13:07:53
Absolutely agree Greenaway.
3.) 05 Jun 2025 14:43:58
Apparently the happy hammers want to swap there stadium for his left foot. ?.
4.) 05 Jun 2025 17:56:09
Only his little toe Tom.
04 Jun 2025 21:36:36
Welcome to CFC Liam Delap.
1.) 05 Jun 2025 10:32:21
He had the guts to take the "cursed" no.9 shirt. Nice work.
2.) 05 Jun 2025 11:45:02
The boy looks a real handful and a throwback to proper number 9's. Let's hope he can bag 15 to 20 goals next season.
03 Jun 2025 11:38:25
I was just talking to a fellow ST holder about potential signings and sales.
I expressed my very slight surprise that apparently Noni has a "For Sale" sign attached to his name. He told me that the lad has real discipline issues and has been read the riot act several times by EM.
1.) 03 Jun 2025 20:02:57
His attitude has always looked a bit off – sulky at times, called out publicly earlier in the season by Maresca, and also dropped for a while (I think) by Poch due to the same, party lifestyle and poor training, something like that.
But on the pitch he's probably our only winger who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. though he doesn't seem to do it often enough. Still, so young, and if he can put his head down there's a great player in there. Has improved massively since last year, and that was an improvement on the year before, so the idea that his development has stalled doesn't fly. I honestly don't know where I stand on this one. He's frustrated me massively at times but also has been the best of our wingers overall I think (not a massively high bar this season) .
2.) 04 Jun 2025 15:13:05
EdW, I wouldn’t be that bothered if Noni goes. I agree that none of our wingers have been impressive. As for Noni he gives the appearance of being one of those young players who think they are better than they are and don’t need to improve or develop. I don’t believe he has the mentality to become top class.
3.) 04 Jun 2025 17:34:47
I think I agree with that assessment Jimbo, although sometimes it just takes the right moment for a young player to realise they're letting their career/ talent slip away. Another argument for having a healthy number of serious, hardworking senior pros in a squad – Noni's attitude does seem to reflect a general culture in this team (stropping when things don't go their way, in particular – look at the number of yellow cards we've had over the past couple of seasons) . I'm not sure this current environment would be the right one for him to find that moment, unfortunately, but do think he could become a very good player (after an epiphany) .
4.) 09 Jun 2025 08:23:28
I’m not sure about “stropping” but I agree about yellow cards received for verbals to the officials is far to frequent.

17 Jun 2025 14:17:45
I rate Alfie Gilchrist and I'm sad that we are selling him.
I can sort of understand it because I don't think he is ready for Chelsea just yet but in my opinion he will be some player in the future.
I hope we have a sell on clause inserted in any deal or maybe a buy back clause.
1.) 17 Jun 2025 15:04:19
It's a shame Tom but I suppose we can't keep everybody.
A cheap sale with a hefty sell on clause will be ideal.
2.) 17 Jun 2025 18:15:00
No tom it is a good one sale because there is no space for the player but the club can buy him back after good years elsewhere.
16 Jun 2025 20:52:24
I will probably be in the minority but I enjoyed that first half.
A couple of good individual performances and a well taken goal.
I assume will take Tosin and James off because of the yellow cards. I still haven't got a clue how many substitutes we are allowed in this tournament but I guess it's the normal amount?
1.) 16 Jun 2025 21:08:14
Tom, I thought it was poor . Very much the team and tactics we played last season. Obviously, a lot of time in the transfer window but unless some big improvements made we will not step up.
2.) 16 Jun 2025 22:27:36
First impressions of Delap an intelligent footballer with bundles of energy has a physically about him that we have been lacking recently.
3.) 16 Jun 2025 22:37:16
Seymns, a very encouraging cameo from the young lad. An assist from both CF’s is good. Let’s hope that the competition to start pushes them both to better performances.
4.) 17 Jun 2025 08:15:02
Delap did well. Most, if not all, our corners were taken short, which is a bit predictable. I would prefer some variation : put the ball into the mix. I watched Palmeiras the other night. Estevao is very confident; he’s not scared to try things even if they don’t work out.
I would like to see Delap, Santos and Penders start the next game.
5.) 17 Jun 2025 08:51:59
Agreed about Delap. Caicedo excellent as ever and EF getting yet another goal from intelligent positionin, yes and nice goal by Neto. But lowly oppsition of course who nonetheless created a few chances of their own.
So indeed hope we can and will up our game considerably when opposition tougher as we will certainly need to.
Still some work to do adding further quality in depth - if we want to challenge on several fronts - in transfer window imho.
6.) 17 Jun 2025 09:04:10
Tom
Jackson does not seem to be a player who likes competition, he might want to move on if he feels his starting role is threatened.
7.) 17 Jun 2025 10:53:58
I was impressed by Delap, he looks a really good signing and gives us an extra dimension up front. Really helps that he knows how Maresca wants him to play and his understanding with Palmer and lavia should help him settle quickly. I was also quietly encouraged yet again by Sanchez in goal, he is starting to look a lot more solid and no doubt helped by what is looking like a settled defence plus the tweak in tactics from the coach allowing us to go longer from the back rather than too much tippy tappy pep nonsence. Finally a mention as well for Enzo F who is starting to add goals from midfield to compliment his all round game. As Jimbo said, I too would like to see some rotation on Friday and in particular see Santos start.
8.) 17 Jun 2025 12:19:33
The tippy tippy nonsense allows you to keep possession and break through the lines, if you have the right players. Sanchez’s punts upfield invariably go into touch or to an opponent.
9.) 17 Jun 2025 17:45:25
The one player i was disappointed in and in general just really can't stand is noni.
I can't put my finger on why really but I just really do not like him. And at times he has looked a decent player but I just can't get over my hate for him.
10.) 17 Jun 2025 19:06:27
CFC blue blood that is exactly how I see Noni as well don't hate him but a skilful selfish player whose not a team player in my eyes he is a sell prefer Mudryk if we ever see him again.
11.) 17 Jun 2025 20:45:34
Me too but God knows what is happening with misha.
16 Jun 2025 17:43:25
Good to see tonight's game being shown live on TV for free.
I have managed to sign up for DAZN and I'm already constantly being offered a pay for premium service, something I have zero interest in taking up. Apparently I can expect match advertising.
1.) 16 Jun 2025 18:44:57
Tom, I watched the Palmeiras game last night to have a look at Estevao, you will get pop-ups to upgrade while the match is on. I think once the group stages are over Channel 5 will have a lot more games.
2.) 16 Jun 2025 19:14:35
Jimbo, thanks for warning.
3.) 17 Jun 2025 08:53:40
What did you make of Estavao's performance Jimbo?
4.) 17 Jun 2025 17:58:35
JBS, I’m not ignoring you I mentioned him in a different thread. He is very confident and is not scared to continue to try things even if something doesn’t work. I don’t want to jinx things but I have a very good feeling about him. I hope he gets game time next season.
15 Jun 2025 00:08:09
Just a few days before the start of the newly formatted CWC.
I may well have missed the news but as far as I know we are still without a FOS for this tournament, next seasons CL and premiership.
I am surprised but I live in hope that this will change quickly.
1.) 15 Jun 2025 07:07:09
I believe DAMAC are sponsoring us through the CWC Tom whilst Chelsea are in talks with a number of FOS sponsor suitors from the Middle East and the USA, although a long-term deal is not expected to be announced until after the Club World Cup. Chelsea are requesting £55m per year.
2.) 15 Jun 2025 07:48:43
Tom, I was thinking that. I would have thought that the FIFA club World Cup would have been a selling point. This is really dragging on, I hope it’s worth it.
3.) 15 Jun 2025 09:25:31
I believe Danac are sponsoring the FOS for the CWC.
That being said you would think that there would have been leaks coming g out on who the new sponser (if any) .
4.) 15 Jun 2025 09:39:15
Good morning Bill, Tom and Jimbo, I think there are a few rumours that Riyadh Air/ Qatar Airways are likely sponsors.
5.) 15 Jun 2025 10:11:18
Guys, you all seem as surprised as me.
I believed that the DMAC deal ended with the Conference Cup final. If it did end with that final but they are now our sponsor for CWC, have we received another significant pay day?
6.) 15 Jun 2025 11:54:43
U known by me Tom.
7.) 15 Jun 2025 21:14:06
It would appear that we have NO front of shirt sponsor for the CWC.
The organisers apparently have set out some rules that stop any temporary (tournament only) sponsorship.
I am very disappointed that a long term FOS sponsorship that included the CWC could not be found before tomorrow’s first game.
Obviously I don’t know all the details and there may well be some good reasons but it doesn’t look like good negotiating by our commercial department.
8.) 16 Jun 2025 00:07:03
Tom, that’s what some of us have been saying for some time. Whatever the eventual outcome not having a FOS sponsor for virtually two seasons and the club World Cup is unacceptable.
9.) 16 Jun 2025 05:35:08
We did have a FOS sponsor for the 23/ 24 season and we did get paid a ridiculous amount of money for a few games at the end of last season but not having a sponsor for this tournament given how much time they have had to plan is disappointing.
I will stick with “dissapointing” until I know the details from the club.
10.) 16 Jun 2025 07:59:39
Tom
What have some of us been saying now for nearly a year.
Glad you are now on board with what so. e of us think about the FOS incomprehensible situation.
11.) 16 Jun 2025 10:39:58
Bill, I am NOT “onboard” with your and others criticism of the club in this regard.
I have previously put forward, without knowing the facts, for a mathematical reason fit taking on a “long term” FOS sponsor. I have zero interest of going through that again.
As far as the CWC and next season are concerned I am disappointed but I have “stressed” I don’t know the facts or reasons why this hasn’t happened.
I am never in a rush to blame people or institutions without knowing the facts.
12.) 16 Jun 2025 11:38:42
As they say in the the legal world:” Res ipsa loquitur” ( The matter speaks for itself) .
13.) 16 Jun 2025 12:08:52
Jimbo, does it?
I have just finished speaking to a guy who deals with sponsors and advertising.
He says it would be contractually unthinkable for a club like Chelsea to take on a sponsor who are within the same industry as any current sponsor. So, if we have a contractual obligation with an airline it’s hard to believe that any contract would allow us to take on another airline as a new sponsor until we are contractually free from the old sponsor.
Also from what I have read the rules of the CWC say you cannot take on a new sponsor just for the tournament. It also says that you have to have the same sponsor throughout the tournament. One source is also suggesting that any sponsor for the CWC should be the same as the sponsors for the 25/ 26 season, although I find that hard to believe.
I am told that it’s more likely that we a sponsorship deal that will run out during or soon after the CWC. This would explain why we can’t take on another long term sponsor for this competition.
While some might believe that having no FOS sponsors for this tournament is the clubs fault, it would appear from the conversations I have this morning that the club has had its hands tied for this competition.
To me, this is at least confirmation that whoever our sponsors are for next season are in direct competition with a current sponsor.
I hope that all makes sense.
14.) 16 Jun 2025 13:54:25
Cheeers Tom
Hopefully you are right but I suppose qw will soon see.
15.) 16 Jun 2025 14:04:34
Bill, we all have a tendency to rush to judge any my information and assessment may not be accurate.
My guess is, if the club had made some sort of complete horlicks of any sponsorship negotiations for the CWC the media would have been all over it like a cheap suit.
16.) 16 Jun 2025 15:58:16
Tom
If we don't have a long term FOS by the start of the season, the media will have a field day, not blaming the commercial dept but will go straight for the ownership.
17.) 16 Jun 2025 15:59:47
As far as the CWC is concerned it is true that the club are not allowed to have one just for the tournament or introduce one once the tournament has started. As for not taking on sponsors from the same industry as existing sponsors- every club knows that: the issues arise for all clubs. The issue is the failure to secure a long term deal.
18.) 16 Jun 2025 16:22:02
Jimbo, “The matter speaks for itself. ” ?
We have no idea if we have or about to have a FOS sponsor for next season. So, I will wait and see if this is an “issue” at the start of the coming season. I will not call something out as “unacceptable” until i know that to be the case.
19.) 16 Jun 2025 17:13:56
Bill, in my opinion if we haven’t got a FOS sponsor for the start of next season then both the commercial department and owners deserve criticism. After all the owners appointment them, I assume with the expectation of them being competent.
Fans, will generally be critical of the owners and maybe they deserve that criticism.
Anyway, I think I will leave sponsors and SB development until later in the summer.
20.) 16 Jun 2025 18:30:53
I have heard that Jordan are not talking anymore to both us and Spurs which i find weird as we both have qualified for the CL.
21.) 16 Jun 2025 19:04:32
Tom, I’ve lost interest in the SB development. I just want entertaining football and trophies: “Hope springs eternal “: Alexander Pope.
22.) 16 Jun 2025 19:13:33
Bill, I haven’t got a clue but just maybe it’s more to do with both clubs having a current deal for next season.
23.) 16 Jun 2025 19:32:17
Tom moves the goalpost and still missed it is disaster.
24.) 16 Jun 2025 20:05:33
Your posts are becoming more predictable maybe you used to post under a different name? ???
Who on earth would care!
25.) 17 Jun 2025 18:18:34
Yes tom I did but forgot password to the account and can't not log in on email to reset aswell.
13 Jun 2025 09:29:50
Obviously I'm pleased ish with our premiership finishing position as 4th was smack in the middle of my my pre-season prediction. Winning the Conference Cup was predictable but it now makes us unique, so I'm happy on two fronts.
I will wait and see how this window works out for us and other clubs before making my prediction for next season but I have to say that with the potential addition of Wirtz, who I think will be one of the best players in the World, the scousers look a good thing to retain there title. The gooners have strengthened there midfield and I think likely to get Sesko, so they will be challenging. City are buying lots of players and they should be stronger as well.
It's going to be a tough old season but whatever happens I'm sure we will be in the mix. I have renewed my season ticket and a few of my fellow ST mates and siblings will be meeting up for our usual pre season drinks to discuss, laugh and moan about all things Chelsea towards the end of July, hopefully with the CWC safely in the trophy cabinet.
1.) 13 Jun 2025 09:46:59
Tom
You are correct about teams strengthing however, so are we plus our youngsters have another years experience under their belt.
I just hope Lavia stays fit which improves us no end, Fofana I have given up on.
2.) 13 Jun 2025 10:31:47
I'm with Bill here, let's concentrate on ourselves, the youngsters do have another years experience under their belts and also the knowledge and belief that they can get over the line in pressure situations. A win away at Forest on the last day of the season and coming from a goal down in a cup final sets them up well. Bill rightly points out that Lavia is hugely important to us and I think with 2 or 3 big additions we can start to challenge.
3.) 13 Jun 2025 12:47:53
Not thinking about the new season yet, I have been critical of our home kits but the new home kit is an improvement and I really like the away kit. Thankfully, they have got rid of those irritating iridescent badges. Looking at the CWC, Channel 5 are only showing one of Chelsea’s group games. Apparently you can watch all the games for free on DAZN by downloading their app on your smart TV, phone etc. I haven’t tried it yet, I am a bit dubious.
4.) 14 Jun 2025 06:28:29
Jimbo
I really like the new away kit, looks classy.
5.) 14 Jun 2025 10:15:11
It wouldn’t on me!
6.) 15 Jun 2025 09:36:10
Nor me Tom lol, but it still looks classy, one of the best shirts for some time.
The last shirt I really liked was the white away shirt during the late Vialli era.
7.) 15 Jun 2025 10:40:42
Bill, strangely I have liked virtually all our yellow away kits. To me I think our first away kit should always be predominantly yellow. I’m not sure why!
12 Jun 2025 11:05:32
Bill, I doubt it as well but until or if we start getting offers we would be stupid not to include in the squad.
On top of that rotation in this competition is going to viral. He may well get a few games.
11 Jun 2025 21:39:58
Bill, Nkunku is our player and was in the Chelsea squad last season. As far as we know he will be in our squad next season.
11 Jun 2025 16:26:32
Edw, we are all just guessing how this will all be resolved but it’s the guessing that makes it fun.
11 Jun 2025 14:46:25
Edw, I think that Sancho being named in the CWC squad had been pre-agreed. I’m not sure how many returning loan players will be in this evenings named squad.
I have to say that I wasn’t overly convinced by Petrovic when he got his first team opportunity under Poch. My guess is they believed that Jorgensen was a better bet ever as 1st team keeper or cover. To be fair Jorgensen did very little wrong when called upon in various competitions.
11 Jun 2025 09:29:23
Bill, I guess the coaches and owners will decide if Petrovic has a Chelsea future.
I would keep him but I also acknowledge it’s impossible to make fans including me happy with the sale of some players plus some signings.
We have lots of keepers and it’s only a few months ago that a debate on this site ensued about how ridiculous it was to have so many. If they sell a couple now that’s fine and the fact they might not be my choices is understandable given I’m just a fickle fan.
17 Jun 2025 14:00:32
Kazblue, I wouldn’t have clue what we have spent on forwards over the seasons but the start date mentioned was 2020 and we had some horrible forward signings under Roman including, Lukaku and Ziyech.
The lines of Washington, Fofana, Mudryk and Sterling, I agree were disastrous but I’m happy with Jackson, Noni, Guiu, Delap and particularly Neto who I see as being top class. I do not consider Palmer as a forward.
16 Jun 2025 22:37:16
Seymns, a very encouraging cameo from the young lad. An assist from both CF’s is good. Let’s hope that the competition to start pushes them both to better performances.
16 Jun 2025 20:05:33
Your posts are becoming more predictable maybe you used to post under a different name? ???
Who on earth would care!
16 Jun 2025 20:02:55
I would guess that the vast majority of CF spend was under the RA ownership and understandably not many fans will be critical of anything under that ownership.
16 Jun 2025 19:14:35
Jimbo, thanks for warning.
