I know this is a Chelsea forum and I have got at others for going off script from issues that affect the club. But I've got to comment on the Harry Kane fiasco. The English media want to get a grip, if that had been a foreign national that had failed to report for the new season the player would have been crucified and relentlessly hammered. Let me just say, that I rate Kane and would take him at Chelsea. However if you scrutinise the really big games that Spurs/ England have been involved in he simply hasn't turned up. The CL semi V Ajax was down to the wee quick sub that came on, (forget his name) the CL final V Liverpool he was awful, even the battle of the Bridge when Spurs were chasing down Leicester he did hee-haw. Same with England, the Euros final he was wretched, in fact I think I really don't think he had one decent 90 minutes in the whole tourney. As for the £140m +? Spurs are "at it " as we say in Glasgow. Basically Taking the p***.

Did Kane have any verbal agreement from Levy being an important one?

We don’t tend to keep unhappy players for long at our club.

I agree Kane hasn’t been at his best in big games but he is quality and if he does end up at City, it will definitely make them stronger.

I understand your point TomB, and I would tend to agree that something has probably been promised. Your point is also well made regarding Chelsea in these situations, I do believe Mr Abramovich sanctioned the Mativ sale to United because the player wanted it.
(I couldn’t believe that one at the time btw) . Will make no difference at Chelsea whatever happens with the England golden boy, as it looks as if Lukaku wants to play for Chelsea. The big difference is that Romelu is going to his work while the deal is worked out😉.

As Samuel Goldwyn allegedly said:” A verbal contract isn’t worth the paper it’s written on”. Very surprised he signed a 6 year contract. It’s always difficult when a player wants to leave but I always take the view if they don’t want to play for us, let them leave. If City want to pay circa 150 million for him- good luck to them. I can’t see how he can stay at Spurs now.

I remember Costa being slated for not turning up to training and staying in Brazil, and I’m sure that was AFTER conte text to say his not in his plans, the media love Kane and never say it how it is, his contracted to the club, the club pay his wages, he should turn up and do the job his paid to do, he may not do it to best of his ability but should show up and be accountable, the media saying it’s not in his nature to force a move and act like this, well this is first publicised interest and his not turned up so to me it’s 100% his nature, all that said, why should levy sel on cheap to please the player,

100 million or so for a player who has dodgy ankles, misses 10 games a season and goes missing in finals is hardly selling on the cheap. We had the situation will Gallas who allegedly threatened to score own goals and deliberately make mistakes: as I recall he made mistakes naturally he didn’t have to try.

Say what you want about Gallade Jimbo but he was actually a key part of our best ever defence in terms of goals conceded over a whole season so he can have hardly made that many mistakes, can he?

It was actually the club which accused Gallas of making those threats: he denied it.
