Mike Dean had been in his new role 7 days and has come out apologising about a mistake, he said in the few seconds he had to watch it, is there now a time limit? How clear was it surely one glimpse at it and it was obvious,

Everyone else could see it in a few seconds, why couldn't he.

He did see it same as us and he knew exactly what it was and what he was doing. He’s come out apologising and saying what it should have been based on reflection and other input from other refs but hasn’t come out and said what his thinking was really. He didn’t deem it violent conduct for a red but then goes out and describes how it’s still a foul and a yellow? so basically either way you should have said no, go have a look because there’s a foul in the box before the goal is scored.

He can't advise to go back and give a yellow and freekick.

He can only advise as violent conduct. That was his explanation.

But if he thought it was a foul on Havertz and within the attacking play phase he could have given a foul. Don’t really see how they’re different.

Var can't stop the play. And the foul was about 3 attacking phases later.
