Linked with Pep Chavarria, don't know much about him but seems like a Dave type player from what I've read.

fuser

1.) 02 Jul 2026 09:23:09
If he's on the same level as Dave, we would be fortunate to get him. I have looked at his 'show reel' highlights on YouTube, but that's what it gives you: highlights. Hard to judge what a player might be like game after game in terms of consistency and contribution.

I’m a little shocked that Veiga might be going to Dortmund on loan with an option to buy. He’s been decent when he’s played, not really pulled up any trees so far but would leave us a little light at LB.

fuser

1.) 12 Jan 2025 19:28:24
fuser, I’m a little disappointed as well but we should remember two things (a) He got dropped from a match squad for a reason (b) we have a history of not keeping unhappy players.

2.) 12 Jan 2025 19:49:11
1 out 1 in Fuser?

3.) 12 Jan 2025 23:12:00
Tom, players get dropped from match squads for reasons: yes. Let’s just hope that the reasons are justified and in the interests of the club. For the club’s sake, I hope they are willing to keep unhappy supporters. &.

4.) 13 Jan 2025 04:32:26
Wouldn’t have a clue if dropping Noni or him from the squad was “justified” and it’s virtually impossible for a club to make all its fans happy.

5.) 13 Jan 2025 08:12:58
As I said previously, it was only a matter of time before the so called B squad got fed up and wanted to leave.

What are we going to do when the European conference league starts up again when the B squad has been decimated, tire out the A squad?

6.) 13 Jan 2025 09:28:13
If players want to leave because they don’t think they are getting the game time they deserve that’s something I understand.

My guess is a few more will leave as well. If the likes of Disasi, Felix, KDH, Noni and Nkunku want to leave along with Chilly and Chuka it will be a shame but I think we will be ok.

7.) 13 Jan 2025 09:40:07
I think he won't go on loan, the club will need a replacement so they are right to sell,
I don't see viega as yet been good enough for premier league personally he looks very raw anytime iv watched him,
30 mill id sell, We will see a lot of these scenarios with players under this ownership, young and if the manager doesn't rate them very highly theyl be allowed to leave for the profit,

Also what did oliver glasner mean when he said Trevoh didn't play for contractual reasons what does that even mean.

8.) 13 Jan 2025 10:11:49
Poch, this is just me thinking but if Veiga does leave maybe Chilly doesn’t leave.

9.) 13 Jan 2025 13:20:34
Tom

Chilwell is the one that needs to go, injury prone also not in the Blue Co age bracket.

10.) 13 Jan 2025 15:04:59
Bill, the comment was meant slightly tongue in cheek. When a manager says he doesn’t want a player it’s usually pretty final.

11.) 13 Jan 2025 19:37:09
Lol Id say no tom b chilly, s days have been numbered all season so strange he's such a quality player when fit.

12.) 14 Jan 2025 11:06:07
I also think the not using of Chilly apart form injury problems is about age policy but this age policy also goes with a new wage policy/ structure I think. Not sure how completely the club would keepo to it but does seem to explain many out outgoings/ sidelinings and possibly the not meeting of CG new contract expectations? The question though is how eg to know who is a proven goalie/ strike ie key positions (bit would be true for other positions and of course manager) rather than having to gamble more than otherwise might be tghe case on getting right pick with youngsters.

13.) 14 Jan 2025 11:44:33
All these players we’ve signed how many would you actually say you want them to stay. I can think of 6 or 7 I would let go.

14.) 14 Jan 2025 13:26:40
My guess is every player has a price but like most fans, some players leaving wouldn’t upset me as much as some others if that makes sense.

26 Aug 2024 14:56:57
Ed002, rumours are Al-Ahli agreed a fee for Osimhen for €70m but he doesn’t want to go, just wondered if that fee is accurate as it seems rather low for Napoli to accept?

fuser

{Ed002's Note - The fee is unimportant.}

09 Jul 2024 22:09:14
Evening ed002, are we still interested in Victor Roque? Know he hasn’t played much at Barcelona but we tried hard last summer and think he/ his agent are angling for a move away? Many thanks =].

fuser

{Ed002's Note - Vitor Roque (S) PSG, Chelsea and Barcelona fought over him last summer with Barcelona winning out. Now his time at Barcelona is over with his agent telling Deco the player wants to stay but others are wanting him gone - and he will depart in the summer; something his agent now accepts. His agent does not want the player to go on loan. Will be offered in exchange for a Chelsea player, but that will be rejected. Fiorentina may offer an option. Spurs might well be approached but the player will resist. Prior interest of Milan and Arsenal has moved on whilst Manchester United will not want to pay the €45M Barcelona are looking to recover. Napoli might provide an interesting solution. His options may be down to joining Inter Milan, who will likely want a loan to buy deal of some sort, Napoli, Juventus as a Moise Keane replacement or Porto. Porto offer an interesting option of an exchange for Pepe who Barcelona see as a good replacement for departing Joao Felix. If the difference in valuation can be reconciled, then a move to Porto may suit everyone. A loan to Inter if Barcelona cannot recover the money or get a suitable player in part exchange would otherwise become viable.}

1.) 10 Jul 2024 07:40:02
So Roque, after being scouted, and targeted by Chelsea and PSG and Barcalona, is now a target of Porto or Napoli, great work from your agent, hero to xero, best you have a conversation with your manager!
So many potential superstars end up nothings because of their agents!

Sounds like Zabarnyi may be available on loan from PSG. I think he'd be a good alternative to Lacroix. Thoughts?

fuser

1.) 12 Jul 2026 09:49:36
Liverpool strongly linked.

29 Jun 2026 18:00:07
Both Maresca and City are paying us for him to sign for City. The statement put out by the club clearly indicates that there was almost nothing to be done and no way to keep Maresca after City approached him.

Rosenior was the worst choice to replace him, but our December form and Maresca’s comments didn’t show that we’d do too well even if we forced him to see the season out.

fuser

1.) 30 Jun 2026 06:01:22
Fuser, I think, once the club found out what was going on, it was virtually impossible for Maresca to stay on as manager for the remainder of the season. Garden leave, followed by compensation, was the logical conclusion.

2.) 01 Jul 2026 12:42:14
Maresca did not take honouring his contract seriously, and sabotaged Chelsea's season by putting his own interests before all others at CFC. He completely deserves to be greeted with boos when he brings City to the Bridge next season, and I hope that he fails at City, though with their squad it would be hard to fail, which is why he wanted to jump ship!

I'm going to withhold judgment on LR at least til the end of the season but the eye test says we're playing better offensively and the stats back that up by saying we've created the most xG in the PL since he joined and we've outperformed that xG too.

Defensively we're still suspect but pretty much everyone on here agrees we need a better GK and a CB, so unless we switch to parking 10 men behind the ball, we're likely to still see mistakes at the back until we make signings.

Most of our dropped points since LR's come in can be attributed to Red cards which were an issue before he joined too. So given all of that I struggle to see how LR's being written off already. Do I think he's the long term manager for us? Most likely not. Is he an improvement on Maresca? Possibly but it's too soon to tell. Will we challenge for cups/titles under him? It depends on signings imo. If we were to get Luis Enrique in the summer but stay with the exact same squad now, we'd undoubtedly see some improvement but we'd likely still be in a similar position we are now.

fuser

1.) 13 Mar 2026 15:16:12
Fuser, as always, enjoyed your post, mate.

2.) 13 Mar 2026 16:10:08
Fuser, you make some good points. As for signings, I don't expect any that will excite the fans or immediately improve the squad. Also, we must accept that we are not at the top table anymore; top class players want to win trophies and often want to play for elite coaches.

The best we can hope for is to keep our better players like Enzo and Palmer.

3.) 13 Mar 2026 23:04:48
I agree about signings Jimbo. Personally I'm stuck in 2 minds, at least in terms of GK. I haven't really watched much of Penders but he was highly rated before we signed him and he's apparently done well at Strasbourg on loan. There's also interest in him from other sides such as Tottenham etc. So it's a tough call there. If he's willing to go out on loan again next season or 2, I'd perhaps look at an Oblak or Kobel maybe to come in for a season or two (although I don't think either are the play out of the back type keepers needed for the type of football we want to play). If he's not then I think we should probably try integrate him and he becomes our no1 at some point next season with Sanchez dropping to no2 as I don't see Jorgensen wanting to stay. There isn't many standouts out there except maybe the Porto GK, who I haven't really seen either. But if we sign him I imagine Penders will want to leave.

At CB, we definitely need a clear out. Disasi, Badiashile, Tosin all need to go imo. Chalobah too perhaps but he'd be the last of the 4 i'd sell. M.Sarr has looked okay so far in his minimal minutes & Anselmino was playing well at Dortmund so I could see one being integrated into the team and the other going on loan. I'd also look to Achaempong going out on loan to be a starter somewhere as he needs to be getting more minutes than he currently does.

I don't think the likes of Bastoni will leave Italy, and I'm not too sure what other peak CB's are out there. Schlotterbeck maybe but he's more of a LCB and we need to probably be looking more for a RCB imo to partner Colwill (and I think Schlotterbecks had quite a few injuries too). I'm not too sure how well he's been playing over the last year or so, but perhaps Rudiger on a free to provide some experience?

I don't really see us signing a ST or selling one except Jackson. Guiu will likely go on loan, and so we'll have Delap, Pedro & Emegha as our options imo. I know some on here want Delap gone as he hasn't really hit the ground running but we need him in order to meet HG quotas, so I don't see him leaving, which means I don't see another signing.

We could potentially see some movement in CM & LW but it all depends on interest in our players and availability of targets imo. Quality wise I think we have enough options at CM, the issue is injuries. Essugo has looked pretty decent when on the pitch and everyone knows Lavia's quality. But if they get injured between now & the start of next season we will probably need to cut ties and look for someone else. Fernandez is linked with RM, but I'm not sure I see them paying €100m for him and I'm not sure we sell for anything less than that but we shall see.

LW is a problem position. Garnacho has actually slightly impressed me. He's certainly played better than I've expected but I'd have him more as a rotation option than a starter. Gittens has been well below par but I just don't think there's anyone out there who will take him off our hands except a loan.

I think we might see Barco or Moreira come in from Strasbourg in either case but honestly I don't think we'll necessarily see any big names come in. If Fernandez leaves, maybe we go for Anderson but he's only 23 so not that peak experienced player everyone's crying out for.

I think most on this board will likely be very disappointed with our summer transfers.

4.) 14 Mar 2026 09:20:19
Fuser, I think that most on here agree that Sanchez and Jorgensen aren't good enough. It seems that the club are pinning their hopes on Penders. He has had good reports but I have never seen him play. Is he ready to be No 1 keeper next season? Another season of Sanchez will finish me off.

If it was down to me, I would go for the Sunderland keeper, Roefs, and get rid of Sanchez and Jorgensen. As for Anderson, a very good player, I think he will end up at Man U or Liverpool.

Looks like Palmer isn’t included in the Europa Conference league for the group stage. Kinda understand it as Hazard never played in Europa til the knockout stages so it makes sense to allow Palmer to skip it.

1.) 08 Sep 2024 06:59:49
fuser, I think there are two other players as well who ar e being game managed. I assume other players will miss some domestic cup games.

This is just me but I can see a cap being applied on how many games a player can play in a season. Also a minimum break.

2.) 08 Sep 2024 07:59:21
It's easy to cut xiwn game time Tom, stop playing stupid internationals

Wexarr 3 games into the premiership and players will be on international duty for 2, where dies that make sense?

3.) 08 Sep 2024 08:23:00
Bill, I’m not sure that will ever happen but if I am correct (doubtful) then internationals would form part
of the game cap.

4.) 08 Sep 2024 11:08:09
I just don't see why we have a world cup, euros and a nations league. It's way over the top. Well actually I do, it's money grabbing.

Isn't 2nd choice striker the lad we bought from Strasbourg? He looked good in pre-season and scored a couple.

If it adds up to 300m for the 3, I'd run and take it. I do. Quite like Enzo, but he wants to leave so he can go. Don't really rate either Neto or Gusto.

Whilst I quite like Neto, I think his end product is sadly lacking. Someone has to make way for all the new players we've bought, so I'd be happy to sell for over £70m tbf.

Because we have 3 RBs (James, Gusto & Palestra) + Achaempong and we're playing one game a week? We have another 2 players capable of playing RWB in Quenda and Neto. So, if we don't sell Gusto, either he or Palestra are likely to get very limited game time.

On top of that, there's just no way Gusto is worth £75m, so I believe we will eventually sell him for around the 50-60m mark imo.

I don't think we'll lower our demands for Neto as I mentioned above.

I think we'll definitely lower our demands for Gusto given that it seems it's only City that are interested and we have an excess amount of players that are capable of playing RB/RWB. The same could be said about Neto in terms of players capable of playing his position, but there seems to be more interest in him if you believe the rags, with Arsenal, Spuds and Liverpool all credited with some form of interest.

Josh would be 4th choice, unfortunately, behind Levi, Lacroix and Fofana, so I’d loan him out to a club where he’ll be starting almost every game. If he’s loaned out, I’d probably keep Tosin or perhaps Anselmino, but he too has injury issues and probably needs a loan himself.

Tom, I think, with the amount of games we have, I'd imagine he'd probs want a squad size of 22-23 + 2-3 youngsters, but I think, just with the amount of players we have (and how injury prone some are), it'll probs end up the full 25 + 3-4 youngsters, but we shall have to see.
