Report from France saying Sarri wants Cavani, as his not happy with Giroud or morata. I mean that's a short term fix and if was a loan I'd be happy but we need a real solution, longer term,

Or Richarlison.

I’d be over the moon with Cavani. Fast, strong, presses from the front and he’s experienced too. I’d be happy if we could have him upfront for 2 years until quality options come available again.

Cavani and Callum Wilson instead of Giroud and morata would be huge upgrade. Plus a player like fekir could really spark something.

Tammy instead of Callum.

Why would PSG sell / loan Cavani? Why would Cavani want to leave PSG?

Financial fair play, and because he is treated appaulingly, despite his goal scoring record?
People need to stop acting like 99% of players worldwide wouldn't be desperate to join us.

I'm with RJ.

In think Cavani makes a lot of sense.

He'll be at a discount and is treated like dirt. He's strong and mobile, gr could link up better mind.

Richarlison might be very difficult to pull off cos he just moved to Everton. Besides that he's my number one pick. The guy should practically fit into our attack perfectly.

So, from what I have read, and the information given by Ed001, and whatever little info given by Ed002 at times, this is probably how the squad will be built over the next two windows:

1) Cahill will most likely leave, will probably be replaced by Romagnoli/ Rugani/ Manolas

2) Zappacosta will likely leave, will hopefully be replaced by James/ Aina

3) Fabregas will likely leave, will be replaced by a new DLP

4) Drinkwater will most likely be sold.

5) Willian might be sold, will probably be replaced by Pulisic/ Suso/ Pepe

6) Morata will likely be sold, a new CF will probably be bought

7) The club will try to sign Kovacic permanently

8) Moses will most likely be sold, a cheap LW (Denis Suarez? ) might replace him

9) Hazard and Caballero's futures are uncertain. Replacements will be bought if they leave

10) Giroud might be let go. Tammy could replace him.

1.) I think Zouma could do that job as good as any mentioned. Strong, fast, sure Sarri would get the best out of him.
2.) Aina should be given the chance.
3.) I think we could trust young Nathan, he has been awesome when required.
4.) May be best for all parties.
5.) I would much rather us go for Under, seems like the best option for a left footed winger (IMO) . Competing with Hazard, Pedro and CHO.
6.) Would love to see Icardi. Giroud as the alternative, gives us options upfront instead of two target men.
7.) Fingers crossed, think he is a talent albeit struggling to hit a barn door at the minute!
8.) Haven’t seen that much of him.
9.) Last couple of times I have seen him play Willy has impressed me. I think Bulka could be used as second choice.
10.) I rate Giroud as a hold up player. Maybe not good enough for first choice. Would like to see Tammy see out the season with Villa. If they go up then maybe even have 6 months in the prem with them to see if he’s up to it.

09 Dec 2018 23:43:16
• Firstly I think Cahill, Drinkwater and Moses will leave in January as they don’t play they have big wages and are just blocking the youngsters path.

• I’d like to see James rotates with Azpi but I doubt it will happen. The Hysaj rumours won’t go away so I think he’ll replace Zappacosta.

Agree0 0Disagree

10 Dec 2018 04:50:17
Three reasons why I remain skeptical of the Hysaj rumours:

1) He was close to signing a new contract. And then all the rumours started popping up with his agent giving multiple interviews. Could be to get him better wages from Napoli.

2) We just extended Azpi with reported wages of 150k/ week. Pretty sure he will stay first choice and spending 50m on Hysaj (who is above average at best) makes no sense.

3) Ed002 said Napoli are not interested in selling Hysaj.

Personally am tired of the the hazard situation, he keeps mentioning his love for Madrid and how he would make a decision next summer. am not even worried about loosing him anymore because I believe we can replace him with two quality players (pulisic and under) and we would b fine. and I believe the Timo Werner lad can do a job as our striker;he’s fast (very), strong and a great scorer, and he won’t cost fortune.

I've been critical of Luiz, Azpi and Willian and i couldn't be happier for them to shut me up. 300th appearance from Azpi and i'd struggle to find a better performance than that in his previous 299. Luiz was excellent and his ball to Pedro for the first goal was sensational, hopefully he can keep that up. Willian has always performed better on the left and he proved it again tonight.

Maybe more games with Hazard at ST would be more beneficial for us. Could go on with with great individual performances but the best we've played as a team all season, especially defensively, against the best attacking team in Europe. Best way to recover from the Wolves game, but as Sarri said this performance means nothing unless we can keep this level up going forward. Got a nice run of games now as well so hopefully we can get a good run going.
KTBFFH.

Yeah, I'll take it. A very professional performance, I think Sarri learnt from our recent poor performances / results and realised you can't just blindly play your style in every game in the Premier League.

We can beat city, we need to be brave, sharpe and clinical, is of gone for a 343 a stbeu struggle when Lyon played it, it it'll be 433, morata will need to be running in behind even when the pass ain't there but just jeep stretching and being a Nucence. Pedro and hazard need to be on it and luiz, hopefully Sarris support in Alonso helps him.

City's strength is the flanks so Azpi and Alonso will need to be on it and Kante and kovecic will need need need to track runners into the box, vital they do that and I think jorginho will need to summon his inner Cesc and go for a few deep balls to Pedro and hazard, I'm going with 3-1 Chelsea, morata kovecic and rudiger and there goal will be Laporte ( wishful thinking )

Believable1 0Unbelievable

08 Dec 2018 08:36:48
Going back to 3 at the back is not the answer. I’d go 4-2-1-3 personally. Get Kante next to Jorginho and bring Emerson and Giroud I’m too. I’d like Hudson-Odoi to start but it’s a big game so I’d try Pedro. I’d also like to see Rudiger play LCB.

Kepa

Azpi Luiz Rudiger Emerson

Kante Jorginho

Pedro Loftus-Cheek Hazard

Giroud

Subs:

Caballero, Christensen, Zappa, Kovacic, Barkley/ Cesc, Hudson-Odoi, Morata

No Alonso or Willian bear the squad after Wednesday.

I was just thinking about the teams who have caused city problems. None play with 3 at the back usually but did for the city game. Lyon Liverpool etc but yeah I do like the kante next to jorg. as long as the other press like Sarri wants. Also morata could play deeper more of CF and Pedro hazard in front. More of an outlet. Giroud could play there but is a lot slower and would Keep up with play, but we can win. no expectations really. Brighton next game is huge,

08 Dec 2018 20:19:29
Matt, you are right about your analysis earlier before the game when you said that Mancity's strength is in their wings. Good game from Chelsea. There's an obvious change in the dynamics and defending in the way Chelsea played.

Agree0 0Disagree

08 Dec 2018 20:49:33
It’s fairly easy to see a teams strengths and another to be ready and some of the performances were what’s been missing, Azpi stepped up. Luiz wanted his place, Alonso done what his Laos to do. so on and so forth. Willian ran his back side off which offensively didn’t offer a great deal but pressing. Wanting to win balll, just a great effort, but I will repeat that 3 points wasn’t expected so the Brighton game is as big.

06 Dec 2018 13:27:39
Some of the comments about players and the manager have an element of truth but generally reflect our recent performances.

I am in a minority by being a Morata fan and some of the continuous negativity about him bare, in my opinion, any reflection of his performance.

Over the last few games Alonso has been poor and so has Willian.

Hazard hasn't been the same since the Utd game for some reason and it's true, when he isn't playing well, we struggle.

We have two centre forwards who are good in the air but not a single player who can cross a ball.

The manager criticism is about what I've come to expect from some fans but they are in entitled to their opinion. I am surprised no fan has compared the situation to Scholari yet.

I have compared it to Scolari, my comment is on the Banter page. Good comment and you also forgot to state that D. Luiz is below par too.

I also compare Sarri to Scolari further down. We do have 2 players who showed recently in the Europa that they can cross a ball well: CHO and Emerson.

Matt, ’I think the people making the comparisons between Scolari and Sarri are not thinking about the style of play. They are comparing the early season success followed by a string of poor results.

I can't believe Sarri is being slated. Loss for words. Terrific manager. Best style of football we've had in a long time. I hope Chelsea back him and he buys his own players. Pep took a season to get to grips with the league. Patience people!

I’m sorry to say It’s the way of the supporters world Shak.

Players can’t have bad patches of form without them being called “deadwood” and managers are only as good as the last game!

07 Dec 2018 11:38:27
But the bottom-line is that Sarri still insists on playing the World's best defensive midfielder out of position!

Agree0 0Disagree

07 Dec 2018 13:41:48
This isn’t a “bottom line” decision. It’s just a managers choice based how he wants the team to play.

We can all have opinions and we MUST all respect each other’s opinions and that includes the managers!

Agree1 0Disagree

07 Dec 2018 17:31:44
The world's best defensive midfielder played in his correct position last season and maybe you could tell us what position we had finished?

Give the manager a chance for heaven's sake. as soon soon as something goes wrong we are calling for the managers head. It's the same set of fans that wanted Sarri as our manager that are slaying him after 2 losses. There's a lot more to our losses than Sarri. He needs the chance to build his team, I am positive eventually he will select Emerson, Odoi, Ampadu etc. However, he can't stick them all in at once. He will phase them in like he did with RLC.

We are the laughing stock for managers, eventually we will run out of options, stability is what we need.

Agree1 0Disagree

06 Dec 2018 00:56:30
I like Sarri's style and we need to do what city did with pep and stick with him and back him in the market.

Only thing I'm worried about is that if he keeps on persisting with Alonso, Willian and Morata he might not get that chance.

Not overly surprised, gutted, but not surprised. Our defence has been shocking all season and our attack has been wasteful. Put those together and results like this will happen. Yes we've only lost 2 games this season but we've been very fortunate in many others where we should've lost. If Sarri isn't backed in January things will get much worse.

Half of the players he has are incapable of playing his system or just aren't good enough for Chelsea. Alonso, Willian, Morata, Giroud, Luiz and Azpi all are players that feature in every game but none are good enough. Azpi can be debatable but he's not a RB in this system, far too slow and not good on the ball under pressure. Fair play to Ruben though, he's performing when given the chance and is the only player that can walk out that game without criticism.

Hudson-odoi needs to play more as well, i don't get this obsession managers have with Willian and his endless flaws. Please Sarri just give odoi a go, much more direct, has a good cross on him and you know you'll get 100% from the kid. Man City next, doubt even the most optimistic Chelsea fans are expecting anything good from this game. January really can't come soon enough.

Believable1 0Unbelievable

06 Dec 2018 06:19:36
I agree with a lot of above, Willian was shocking should have had at least 1 if not 2 goals. Morata is totally ineffective. Defensively thought Christianson was poor, he just not assert himself. Personally don’t agree on alonso. As for RLC I thought again his work rate was poor and he was dead on his feet. Generally a poor performance. We don’t seem to have an identity, we have gone to side to side then pop one over the top. We are not getting the ball wide.

Agree2 0Disagree

05 Dec 2018 23:46:40
As the final whistle blows, Hazard has the ball on the left wing, Wolves have 9 players in their box, and we have 1 player in their box - Giroud marked by 8! Says everything I need to know - let me be the 1st to say it: we need to sack Sarri.

Sarri, like Conte before him, is a 1 trick pony - and his 1 tactic has been sussed already. Sarri has won nothing, not 1 trophy in football. Sarri has turned the best defensive midfielder in the World into a mediocre attacking midfielder. And he continually picks his nose!

Believable0 0Unbelievable

06 Dec 2018 09:26:59
Sack a coach that is basically using another 3 to 4 coaches players?

Get a grip, seriously!

For years, all of us have been crying out for continuity with a coach/ manager and, you now want to sack a manager who hasn't had 1 full window to shape a team.

This post above has actually given me a headache!

I see in the reply to my post neither of the responders have addressed the problems with Sarri. Why does he persist with Kante as an attacking midfielder? Why do we never have any other body in the box except Morata or Giroud? Why does Sarri persist with a left-back who can't defend? Why are we about to lose one of the most exciting young players to have come through the youth system because Sarri would rather stick with Willian?

Why can't or won't Sarri alter the system during play when it is obviously failing? Why do we have 70%+ possession but create so few chances? Why does Sarri remind me of Scolari? Why did we employ a manager who has won naught in his career? And, why does Sarri continually pick his nose?
If he's not good enough - get rid. He's not good enough.

Hello Ed's. Hope you're both in great spirits.

Is there any sort of update on our hunt for a potential director or has attention turned elsewhere for the time being? It was a hot topic over the summer, yet it seems that all talk has since disappeared. Strange considering it's a high-profile position at a high-profile club.

{Ed001's Note - sorry mate I don't know, it is not my area at all. I would be sure they will still be working on it.}

Thank you for the response, Ed001. Just to pick your brain, who are the two, three names you’d recommend the club push forward for, for that particular position?

{Ed001's Note - I honestly don't know, it is not really my area at all. I would want to do my research before I put forward any names, not just into potential people but also into exactly what the role entails.}
