Confused by the Garnacho interest. Seems strange the amount of wingers we have and especially how well Sancho is doing.
£70m seems like a lot of money that could be spent elsewhere, like on another striker and cover in midfield.
Unless he can play up top 😉.

I think the price for Garnacho will be closer to £45m. I find the deal is strange to me but maybe something is going on we don’t know about.
Anyway, doubt it will happen!

Dan, Sancho isn’t doing that well “ all fur coat and no knickers “. We certainly don’t need any more wide players especially as we have the two Brazilian lads coming in the the summer. About time we concentrated on the areas that clearly need to be addressed.

Usually the debates are on which player and how much, on social media I'd say the fan base is united in the frustration of lack of movement for glaring concerns with midfield cover being and the season being in tact hanging in Caceido not missing any games, the Douglas luiz loan option made a lot of sense, knows league ask was key to villa getting top 4 and is a position we are craving with Lavia unable to play 2 games in a row. fact we've loaned them veiga something could of been done.
City buying Marmoush stings, striker who plays off the left, would cover 2 places / positions, read a coach describe him as unpredictable and solves problems.
Time to accept a striker won't be joining in Jan, to difficult a market and we don't want to overpay, more anger that's it's 6 windows and we still crave that position,
I believe this will be the last window for some of the decision makers at the club. Think maybe one or both the sporting directors will be changed, the direction shouldn't be young potential but some needle movers and title challenging players, more experienced players.

Spending £100m on Neto and Felix and then another £60m 6 months later on garnacho is a sackable offence so hopefully both go, these guys can’t build a squad or get close to it. It’s a shame that by time they are replaced the next person will have a harder job with moving on And bringing in with tighter ffp rules and no hotels / woman’s team to sell to a sister company,

Matt who knows we might have a FOS by next season, we have only thrown away £40mil this season with the lack of one.
Also we are falling behind Arsenal, Liverpool, Man U and even Spurs in losing revenue with just a 42k capacity stadium, not a peep from the owners, probably still arguing whether to move or develop.

Matt, I would have signed Neto every day of the week and twice more on Sunday. I wouldn’t have signed Felix but I’m just giving my opinion. The SD’s are entitled to a different opinion and it’s certainly not a sackable offence to sign any player.

Bill, I assume you have looked at the last FAB board minutes. The question of SB was asked and answered along with a promise of updates when there was something or anything new.
So, there will not be a “peep” until they have something to say. I suppose they could keep putting out press releases saying there is no change and the review is ongoing.
It’s been reported by several outlets that a FOS sponsor has hit difficulties because of an existing sponsorship. Also I think a little depends on the clubs performance this season but it’s hard to imagine a FOS sponsor will not be in place pre WCC. If.

Enjoying reading the thread: just to upset everyone here are my views:
The SDs are useless: apart from Palmer I can’t think of another decent signing: personally, I wouldn’t have signed: Neto, Sancho, KDH or Felix, none of them have made a significant impact.
The commercial side are also useless: effectively two seasons without a FOS sponsor.
As for PSR let’s not get too cocky; we’ve had to sell hotels and the women’s team within the group to comply. We still have a significant operating loss. We are running out of things to sell: what next supporters organs? As for SB development, most of us will be pushing up daises by the time a decision is made.

Neto was top class against and every time I saw him for Wolves. He hasn’t played consistently well for us so far but I have no doubt that he will.
The team in my opinion was overdue an overhaul. As you say Caicedo is top class but so many on this site referred to him as a “donkey” or just a waist of money.
We are now challenging for champions league positions again and next year we will be challenging for the title. Maybe then some will see it as money well spent.

Regardless of Mudryk or the plan for George, Tom, we should be going nowhere near that guy. Looked exciting enough when he broke through a couple of years ago, but hasn't developed. Head down and shoot on sight, no pass. Plus a really petulant, immature attitude and supposedly one of the culprits of the teamsheet leaks that were undermining United's preparations for games.
Perhaps the SDs will realise they were looking at the wrong winger – whilst we don't need the position he plays, someone like Amad (hard-working, never-say-die attitude, bending games to his will) is exactly what we need.
On a different note, how nice was it to see Trev back in the team and steadying the ship? It's criminal the way we've treated him. Must be really embarrassing for the SDs that he's so much better than any of the CBs they've been splashing the cash on – wouldn't be surprised if that was the driver for his exile during the summer. After the effect he had coming into the team at the tail end of last season, and the immediate impact now, I'd be making him captain, personally. Yes, he has shaky moments with headers back towards the keeper (has never seemed to judge the flight of the ball that well), but his attitude is just so spot on. So important to have someone who's been at the club so long in the team, for my money, and let's face it, with his injury history that's unlikely to be Reece, as much as I love the guy.

I've ackowledged that Sanchez is not a bad shot stopper and there have been games - if only most memorably the Bournemouth away fixture - when he was deservedly MoM for them. The trouble is that he does seem to do something silly when ball at his feet far too often that leads directly to opposition chance or a goal. This makes most of us nervous every time he has that ball at feet and his distribution is not great in general. His command of the box not generally as bad but of course v Wolves he flapped at the ball when he should have punched it. Overall he is no Cech or Courtois in their prime. Or Alison or Edison in terms of distribution ability though they are both in eraly 30s and Sanchez is younger at 27. But don't think many on here reckon he'll get to their level yet EM says his happy happy with RS. Perhaps by 2030 - ie Vision 2030 - he will get there but.

" we've seen both Chelsea's today, the one keeping up with Liverpool playing great football and the one who are going to miss out of champions league football a half of two teams "
And also how pleased we all are for trev, all us fans knew he was better than disasi and badishile so it's good to have him back, now they need to swallow what's left of there pride and get Petrovic back for Sanchez because he doesn't help the nerves of this team.

Sorry you won't be there Tom . its half time and looks as though CFC are missing you. but given last fifteen minutes or so might be another good game to miss. After yet another bright start things fall apart again. Sanchez gives another goal away by not lunching the ball out. and did yet anothe sloppy pass out a bit earlier - but Wolves had gained control. Yet again we look to have nomplan B. Does EM have the tactical ability to do so? We will see in second half soon wnough but haven't seen any sense of tactical awareness or game management for many a game now. We look decidedly mid table mediocrity at times.

Generally throughout last season we came out for the second half looking like we had taken sleeping tablets but that observation gets forgotten if we win. When we were winning this season as far as I can remember no poster mentioned half time team talks. At the end of the day it’s results that makes us fans react.

Sanchez, is an absolute liability. De Zebri saw it we see it yet EM doesn’t: is he defending him out of stubbornness? What makes it worse is that the coach and SDs let our best keeper go out on loan. Incidentally, Petrovic has the best stats for accurate passes in Ligue 1.

Sanchez has made some good saves this season not least in away game at Bournemouth but he is liability in the so many mistakes he makes that lead to goals. NOt acceptable and apart from his flapping erro last night there was another moment when he had plenty of time on the ball and space to play it into and sent it looping straight to a Wolves player.
Petrovic had done well last season and should surely have started as our number 1 this season. And TC our best defender - after Silva's retirement - also sent out on loan. CG not thought worth giving a better contract though Lavia injury record immensely worrying, seems Casadei not trusted to fill that role, and KDH though had a good game last night surely not as good as CG in turnovers and goal threat and ground covered.
Has antone had an update on Lavia's latest injury and Enzo's injury? Would hugely hope that they could both be fit for crucial City away game though Cucurella did a great job yesterday in coverfing much of the pitch and yes KDH was energetic and tidy and could grow in confidence and creativity perhaps
Some quite a few unforced errors made last transfer window including not brining in either a worlds sttriker - admittedly not that easy to obtain of course - or at least a support striker who could be trusted to make an impact off bench if not a starter and get more minutes than Guiu.
Biggest sucess was perhaps Sancho on loan though Neto has had some ghood moments and Tosin beginning to settle in. Jorgensen not given much of a chance in first team.

Jimbo exactly, stats are often used to support an argument point of view. In the same way the Petrovic passing stat is useless unless you know the context of the passes.
The same guy who mentioned the stat for Sanchez to be fair touched on a similar point that you are making. He said that Onana had made less mistakes that led to a goal being conceded than Sanchez and has he said who on earth would want Onana as there keeper.

I agree that stats alone are not that useful for keepers but the errors leading to goals is a solid one: Sanchez is second worst and, of course, that doesn’t include the ones he got away with.
