Lacroix deal is on! Very happy with that, generally happy with the business so far. Looking forward to seeing who they go for on the attacking right and who we get in if we need to replace Fernandez.

According to Sky Sports, Chelsea have placed a large transfer fee on Malo Gusto and Enzo Fernandez.
Everton will not trigger Tyrique George's £25 million buy out clause.
Chelsea want to sign Lacroix from Palace and have stepped up the interest.
Chelsea step up interest in Leeds left back Gabriel Gudmundsson.
Man City, Inter Milan and Liverpool all want to sign Marco Palestra and can offer Champions League football, Palestra is two footed and runs like a panther and is so highly regarded it would be a major coup for any club to land him.

Very interesting to see Carra on the Liverpool pages (typically a very good track record of having direct information from within LFC) said that we met with Diomande's agent.
I believe Leipzig already turned down a 100m euro offer from Liverpool, so kind of wild that we are interested knowing that. Would be a monster statement of intent. Can't see how we afford it before sales.
He did note that we were told he only wants to join LFC. Maybe Drogba can get in his ear haha.
Also he is only 19, but had a huge season in Germany and is playing extremely well for Ivory Coast at the WC, so another that would likely get into our starting 11 quite easily despite his age.
24 Jun 2026 20:14:47
He can play both sides, but he's mostly played off the right at Leipzig. Also, seems strange if we're gonna play with 5 at the back. Honestly, don't see anything in it.
23 Jun 2026 19:54:17
If we are about to sign Palestra, I assume we are selling Gusto.
The rumours are that everything is agreed. We will see!
23 Jun 2026 23:14:15
Yeah, looks like we've come in late and, financially, blown Inter out of the water. Can't imagine Gusto will be staying now, probably off to City - not a massive loss, in my opinion.
Palestra will take some time to settle, but is a player that can play FB or WB on either side, allowing Alonso to be tactically flexible.
I think we'll add Barco, Lacroix and a left sided 10, on top of Palestra. That'll pretty much be it.
24 Jun 2026 00:15:12
I agree with that, J. Slim possibility of a GK in Maignan if we can find a suitor for Sanchez or if Penders is happy for another loan.
24 Jun 2026 00:18:07
Haven't ever watched him play, but know there are high expectations and happy to see us through the checkbook at a deal to get it done.
If it also means we sell Gusto to a rival, it's the cherry on top.
24 Jun 2026 09:20:47
So what has happened to the idea of buying experienced players, who are Premiership-ready with great talent & character?
To be fair, I have never seen Palestra play, but how many of those boxes does he tick?
Maybe just talent, but that's not what we currently need.
Once again, I think our transfer policy is confusing.
24 Jun 2026 14:19:28
Swcfc, I had also wondered about this, as I had thought the Alonso appointment meant we were now more open again to buying seasoned
top-tier proven players.
24 Jun 2026 14:21:42
Instead, it seems more likely that we will sell more than we bring in, starting with Cucurella. But the transfer window has a very long way to go, of course.
24 Jun 2026 20:16:58
I think the change was that the manager now has more overall say, & I assume the age profile of players has been relaxed. It sounds like Palestra was an Alonso pick, though.
Just seen Chelsea apparently want £75m for Gusto. 😂 I think we'll probably ask/want around the £40m mark myself.
24 Jun 2026 20:50:34
Why would you sell Gusto for less than we are paying for Palestra? He's playing in the Premier League already and Palestra is unproven.
24 Jun 2026 21:50:39
Proven to be what. 😆
Value is not just about ability, it's about contractual term, age, amortised valuation, wages... A £45m Palestra might be better value than getting £45m for Gusto.
A £75m Gusto?
It's hard to negotiate when the other side can't stop laughing.
22 Jun 2026 07:03:48
Como are interested in Chelsea CB Trevoh Chalobah, but there’s big gap in valuation at this stage.
Difficult deal as CFC value Chalobah highly and Como are being careful with their budget.
Source: Fabrizio Romano.
22 Jun 2026 14:59:14
Maybe they should take their begging bowl elsewhere Rpd.
23 Jun 2026 07:20:48
I think, in today's market, and if wanted to sell Chalaboa, I think £35-40m ish.
23 Jun 2026 09:10:27
At least Tom, he is an England international after all.
21 Jun 2026 23:10:24
Apparently there is some substance to the Wharton Chelsea signing.
I have posted before. I’m not a massive fan. He does look to move the ball forward but is often caught out of position.
I usually say I enjoy the rumours but rarely the fact, but this is a rumour I’m not that happy about. If we do sign him, he will immediately become the best midfielder in Europe. I hope!
22 Jun 2026 08:27:30
The money Palace would be asking for would be silly. I would sooner go for Anderson.
22 Jun 2026 08:50:43
Let's just give Santos a proper run in the side, and develop him alongside Caicedo. Surely our priorities are a world-class centre-back and keeper.
22 Jun 2026 10:33:54
I agree with Greenaway in terms of giving Santos a run in the side, as I think he may have more to offer in the long term than Wharton, who would apparently cost a huge fee. If we lose Enzo F, as seems probable, I would like to see him replaced by someone with more creative flair and goal scoring ability than Wharton.
Santos has shown that scoring ability for Brazil junior sides and at Strasbourg, but we probably bring in another, more experienced midfielder with this attacking midfielder ability, and Santos can play a deeper role, as he generally has done for us so far?
22 Jun 2026 14:37:43
As long as the money isn't ridiculous, I think Warton could fit in well. With the creative players ahead of him, he could make a big difference in our ability to get forward quickly. If the fee is anywhere near the 85m that Newcastle supposedly want for Tonali, I would much rather he came in, though.
As long as we get some deals over the line early, it should make a big difference having a full preseason with Xabi.
22 Jun 2026 20:31:21
It's being said that Palace want near the £80m mark so I'd steer clear.
23 Jun 2026 09:11:01
Agreed, fuser.
21 Jun 2026 18:29:16
Some interesting latest rumours on players linked to Chelsea.
Florian Wirtz wanted by Alonso to replace Enzo Fernandez if he leaves according to Sky Sports. A lot of debate on the Liverpool page about this one with their fans split on whether to cash in on him.
Diogo Costa, Portugal goalkeeper thought to be the right profile for Chelsea and apparently recommended by Alonso, would be a major coup to get over the line and would mean Penders possibly leaving as he wants first team football and a clear pathway to be the Chelsea no.1.
I would take at least one of them.
21 Jun 2026 19:19:25
I would take Wirtz all day long. He knows Alonso well, and before he went to Liverpool I rated him in the top three players in Europe.
Costa would also get a thumbs up from me, as I rate him in the top three keepers in Europe.
I would not be that bothered, within reason, who we sold to get them both.
22 Jun 2026 08:29:13
Tom
Perhaps Wirrz is another German player who is not suited to the Premiership, ie Werner.
22 Jun 2026 11:27:13
I agree that Wirtz is totally not suited to the Premier League. When I saw him play last season, I thought he was too weak, got knocked off the ball too easily, and when he did beat a player, they just fouled him.
18 Jun 2026 00:52:13
Seems like we may be signing Cambiaso from Juve. I watched a good chunk of Juve games last year and it would certainly indicate that Xabi would be setting up with wingbacks.
Personally I don't rate him that highly. He is not very strong defensively and while he tries to be as offensive as Trent, his final delivery is similar to Neto in that he has a killer ball about 10% of the time. Juve play with wingers also so maybe it would work in Xabi's system, as the amount of times Cambiaso tried to play balls into the box himself, rather than get Yildiz involved in the build up was frustrating to watch.
18 Jun 2026 10:10:16
Melbourne, I have still got my fingers crossed that we re-sign Hall. I think we have a sell on clause.
I think Newcastle will sign either Delap or Jackson.
18 Jun 2026 11:54:29
Tbh, I'm not too worried who we sign for what positions as long as Xabi gets the players he wants and has time to instill his ideas. If this portion of the 'project' doesn't work out, the future looks very bleak.
Would be happy to see both Jackson and Delap be sold.
Vlahovic is someone that looks like we also might be in for and would certainly add some of the Diego Costa aggression to the front of our attack. Although he is another that seems to fold at the first sign of a slight niggle in a toe.
19 Jun 2026 09:41:13
Am in two minds about Jackson. I think he offered quite a lot, not just in the 15 goals or so he contributed, but in his link upplay and creation of space for Palmer when with us. When I first saw him in pre-season games he also seemed able to play out on the left and had linked well with a pre-injury Nkunku. He has pace, can pick a good pass, and has scored some good goals. Unfortunately, what we also saw was someone who too often lacked composure in front of goal and lost his temper and got cards and sendings off.
Not often a starter at Bayern, for obvious reasons given Kane's superb form, he did manage 11 goals in all competitions there.
Jaoa Pedro certainly needs more support and/or rivalry for the striker spot, and Jackson would seem to offer more than Delap. So it depends who else we could get in who would be better not just than LD but also NJ.
19 Jun 2026 15:15:57
Obviously, he got less minutes because of Harry, but he also managed to get himself red carded a couple of times when he was given the chance to start games. He's a liability. He will always be a liability, and something we must move away from is having players who continuously make the same mistakes. It's ok if players are young and do something stupid, it's not ok for the same mistakes to be made three years on the bounce.
I don't think Nico is anywhere near world class, and I think he thinks he is.
You'd expect, going and playing understudy to Kane for a year, you'd learn something, and maybe realize how much improvement you need to make to get right to the top. There is nothing I've seen to make me think he learned anything or even slightly improved his game. We need a drama-free squad, and everyone to buy into the idea that the collective is more important than the individual. Nico only thinks about Nico.
20 Jun 2026 12:47:33
I think Jackson, like most players, will learn a lot about behaviour on a football pitch.
He lets himself down, blows hot and cold performance-wise, but on his day, in my opinion, he is a handful.
20 Jun 2026 16:04:55
You could say that of most if not all strikers, Tom.
20 Jun 2026 21:42:25
Bill, that is very true. All but the greats seem streaky!!
15 Jun 2026 10:21:30
BB apparently wanted by Bayern Munich, be nice to move him on, showed some early promise but just not consistent enough for me but was that due to all the chopping and changing at the back? Disasi also attracting a lot of interest.
15 Jun 2026 12:49:40
Where are you hearing this rumour? Or is it just wishful thinking?
16 Jun 2026 23:45:30
In the last few days I have read stories saying Badiashile is going to Real Madrid, Milan, or staying.
I love the rumours.
17 Jun 2026 02:01:51
Milan have been credited with interest in BB before, but it might just be that we have a habit of selling players to them.
17 Jun 2026 08:41:48
Milan, it will be Tom. They will want a 20 year loan, and we will have to pay 200% of his wages, plus a packet of Rolo's every month.
17 Jun 2026 08:47:09
Not sure about the Rolo's.
I thought it was just rubbish, but I can see how a Real transfer might work.
18 Jun 2026 02:11:28
Tbf, Bill, Milan have actually paid us fairly decent fees for the players we've signed, unlike other Italian clubs.
18 Jun 2026 08:18:19
Fiser,
I just can't stand Italian clubs coming over with their begging bowls when they charge us top dollar if we want a player.
19 Jun 2026 12:08:20
Celery, I saw the Bayern rumours on the shed chat page, and have also since seen the Milan rumours from a couple of sources. I guess we will have to wait and see if Alonso wants to give him a chance as well.
14 Jun 2026 21:53:18
£51.8 million for Cucu is a very smart bit of business by Alonso and the club. He has served us well but isn't a wing back and really would of looked lost in an Alonso system. Who comes in will be interesting and lovely to see Alonso already shaping his squad.
14 Jun 2026 22:55:50
Greenaway, I can't remember what he cost all those years ago? I seem to remember £50m ish, but I'm not certain.
I wouldn't have a clue if it was an Alonso or SD decision, but he hinted that he wanted to go, so goodbye as far as I am concerned.
I seem to remember a previous poster saying a sale would likely show as a book profit of approx £30m.
I guess we will sell some at a profit and some at a loss, just like most clubs.
15 Jun 2026 09:28:58
I think Cucurella is one of the best left backs in the world and also perfectly capable of play at left wing back. We paid £60million for him.
Whether this is a very smart piece of business by the club remains to be seen - depends, as always, on who we can get in to replace him and/or back up Hato (who may play LCB if Alonso plays three at the back?) - but I think we are weaker without MC and the goals he gave us (seven times more than Delap?). Problem is that he wanted to go, and we, as a club, do not tend to prevent players leaving if they wish to go, and clearly the best players would like Champions League football, which we spectacularly failed to get.
Yes, we won the (abysmally low standard) Conference League, and then the CWC, but it was a pretty disastrous season, partly a result of fatigue/injuries that ensued. Then, of course, Maresca, having boosted his profile, wanted away to Juventus or City.
Anyway, it may well not be wise to comment much more on whether we will be weaker next season overall until this transfer window is over. Like others, I hope that Alonso will both persuade most of our better players to stay, attract some others in, and be able to offload those not good enough or surplus to requirements.
15 Jun 2026 09:41:37
JBS, I agree Cucarella had one horrible season, but has generally been very good for us.
I don't like it when players start talking about moving during a season, but my guess is it's driven by agents, and, again, as you say, we don't keep a player if they are not happy.
I assume it will now show as a financial profit on our books, but he also gave a playing return on our investment, and I cannot fault his effort for the club. As you say, too early to judge about replacements, but I am a Hall fan.
15 Jun 2026 17:09:02
Tom,
I think Hall is earmarked for Man U.
I would not be too fussed if we did not get him, if im honest, I believe he has had a number of injuries.
16 Jun 2026 11:28:09
Bill, or maybe not.
