Veiga off to Juventus, straight loan until the end of the season.

I bet if he plays well, his head will be turned and Juventus will offer a low ball figure.

Oh well onwards and upwards/ downwards.

If reports are true it’s a loan fee of €5m for just the remainder of the season. If he plays well at CH for them that can only be good for us.

Looks like good business to me!

If that’s the way you want to describe it then fine but we will sell and buy lots of players for seasons to come as we have in seasons gone by.

If the player wants to leave at the end of his loan for whatever reason then we have a long history of letting players who want to leave, leave.

Tom

At some time soon we are going to need to have a settled squad.

Agree0 0Disagree

The basis of a squad should be settled but a bit of turnover in players never seemed to harm Fergusons Utd.

If players want to leave let them leave.

Sounds like there is some interest in Garnacho but seems as though we’ve also spoken to villa again about signing Duran. Hard to see where Garnacho fits in with estaveo joining in the summer they play on different sides but then where does Neto sancho madueke fit in. I’d happily take Duran right now might be the difference between top four and 6th or 7th Jackson just isn’t producing, glad Chabs is back was definitely the smart option, but the big glaringly obvious issue besides Jackson not being able to hit a barn door from 3 yards is Sanchez he has to go the club has to buy a top keeper Duran and a keeper and we should be set for a while.

Thought chabs was class last night must of been a lot of pressure for him handled it extremely well , think palmer needs a rest nice to see James fit and healthy to.

Garnacho makes no sense to me at all. He is absolutely not the type of player we need to bring in at the moment.

It is hard to. make sense of the rumours about possible in and out transfers this window.

Why for instance are we doing a pre. transfer agreement for 19 Yr old Strasbourg CB Sarr for the summer? Will TC be sold . I certainly hope not given how he has always played well for us.

Why are we linked with yer another wide player in Ganacho . as a Mudryk replacement? Because no good striker available? Does the same go for goalkeeper or do either Petrovic or Johansen still have a chsncebof making it?

Why dies EM not trust either Chucky - who looked do good at start of last season - or Casadei who has also looked v promising on few occasions he's been given minutes in first team? Neither were even on the bench yesterday.

Presumably Nkunku was notbused because going to be sold? Otherwise he should surely come on for Jackson at some stage last night?

Believable0 0Unbelievable

21 Jan 2025 15:42:15
Do we really need to replace a player (Mudryk) who hardly played this season?

21 Jan 2025 15:54:34
I think we look a mess. Starting from the players we’ve bought. To players we’re forcing out, then calling back. Maresca is a one trick pony. I can see the next couple years being a waste.

Who would you actually keep. Gusto, James, cucurella, challobah, Collwill. Caiciedo, enzo, palmer. Would keep lavia and fofana if injury free. Neto and madueke, I don’t think are good enough to be starters. The rest of them I really wouldn’t keep. Also it’s a shame chillwell can’t get a wing back role sometimes and maresca change his tactics now and then.

I really believe the sterling and chillwell situations was down to the owners removing big money earners. Also they wanted the profit from challobah. I know we’ve been singing we’ve got our Chelsea back at leicster away Southampton away. But I think we are from it.

JBS,

I feel your frustration and I'm pretty sure we are not alone.

We seem to collect wingers and goalkeepers, have a number of CH's who are normally injured and a ST in Nkunku and the young Spanish lad who seem not to get a look in despite Jackson not being able to hit a barn door from 6 inches since Xmas.

I really do not know what our SD"s thinking is apart from buying up lots of youngsters only for Maresca to say, they are not needed. I just hope the media start to question our DD's and put pressure on them and the club to explain what their thinking is.

Whist I'm at it, still no word on the fantastic FOS we are supposed to be soging up with and not a peep on the so called SB project. When the owners first arrived updates were coming out on a regular basis, now absolutely nothing from them.

Agree0 0Disagree

21 Jan 2025 16:17:29
JBS, I would have a clue about the young CH from Strasbourg but I hope it doesn’t mean we have no more interest in the young lad from Ajax.

Looks like Chuka is going out on loan (thankfully) and we are selling Casadei with a substantial sell on clause. I personally wouldn’t have signed Felix on KDH. If they hadn’t signed them maybe things would have been different.

I don’t think the club want to sell Nkunku unless our valuation is met but maybe the sale could be driven by a player transfer request. There are two things to consider (a) we have a valuation that Bayern don’t want to pay and (b) the club would probably want a replacement in this window.

The Ganacho rumours are a worry to me. I can only assume the club feel that Mudryk is going to get a ban if some sort but more importantly to me I would be happy to stick with the four wide players we have and that includes George. I really don’t know enough about the lad himself other than he is playing Utd.

21 Jan 2025 16:58:07
Bloody hell, just seen about Ed002. I'm a bit off the pace here. Condolences to his family – and to you Ed001.

JBS, I generally find your posts well reasoned and thoughtful, and this is no exception. Surely – surely – these Garnacho rumours are just agent faff? Another inconsistent, arrogant young winger with a sulky attitude who doesn't get his head up – would at least provide balance with Noni on the other side I guess. I'd be hugely disappointed in this transfer, especially at the prices quoted – although his output would probably be higher than Mudryk at least, saying that isn't saying much.

I wish Maresca wasn't treating Chucky like this. I get that he's coming back from a severe injury, so a loan might make sense, but every time he plays he's looked more dynamic than, say, Enzo, to me (although in recent European sub appearances, understandably a bit nervous. Wish he'd scored one of the chances he had in the last game he played) . I really rate him, and we're killing his career at the moment. Casadei also always looked good to me when he's been given minutes by the club – though clearly asked to do a much more conservative safety-first Lavia-style job by Maresca this season, he wins headers in the midfield and can bomb forward. Maybe not the profile of midfielder we want in this setup, but another talented player on the pyre of the SDs' confusion.

Nkunku looks a cert to be sold. He's looked disinterested last five games or so – guess he's known the writing's on the wall for a while. Not a great reflection on him, that – I'm not a fan of players sulking and feel you should give your all if you play, regardless – but he looked so dynamic in his first games back from the injury and it seems a strange one to be letting our club's top scorer go when we have an issue with scoring goals.

{Ed001's Note - thank you EdW. He is very missed.}

Agree0 0Disagree

22 Jan 2025 07:18:15
Garnacho surely not, the last type of player we need both positionally and personality wise.

The two obvious positions are keeper and centre forward, may as well give the nos 2 keeper a run although I wouldn't start him against city but the games after that.

Centre forward Delap or Duran at Villa

An experienced midfielder would be useful but not vital

If it was up to me would sell Nkunku, Felix Casadei, Diasi, Veiga, Chucka on loan.

Enjoyed reading all responses to my questions about the logic of our transfer policy and current transfer rumours. Reckon we are all largely on the same page in terms of degree of puzzlement although clearly some (slight) differences in terms of who we should keep and who we might let go.

EdW good to see you back posting and in your typically well considered way.

Yes Ed02 is hugely missed and perhaps particularly in this first transfer window without him. He shed so much light on what were nonsense rumours and what had legs and could happen. We loved his input and even if some replies were (usually justifiably) short and sharp e. g. as in when he used the one word 'twitter? ' (ie did we get this from twitter) .

I love the rumours of a transfer window.

Evan Ferguson to Chelsea in the summer is the latest one with us asking about a loan in this window.

19 Jan 2025 19:31:51
He would be the last ST we need right now Tom.

He has been injured, hardly played and probably lacks confidence.

Very much against buying him. But it’s that point of desperation we need another striker / option so loan, meh why not,

Agree0 0Disagree

20 Jan 2025 09:04:35
We should surely give Guiu more of a chance in role of young striker with lots of potential. What we need right now is finished article to assist Jackson or for EM to get Nkunku firing in that role. The Dif Delap continues to impress for Ipswich in the EPL - and he did look good against us - he might well be an excellent summer signing though could be at a v high price I guess.

I assume this is rubbish but a mate just called me to say we are trying to nick Omar Marmoush off to toes of City.

I think he is misguided any getting old news that is way past its sell by date.

I love the rumours and usually hate the facts.

18 Jan 2025 08:19:48
Agree with the fun bit

I would sooner be boring and actually go for players we badly need, an EXPERIENCED CB and ST.

please no more youngsters, we bring them in and then let them go, it's like the hokey kokey with our SD's.

While I'm being negative again, still no news on this brilliant FOS we are supposed to be getting nor anything on the so called SB project

And don't get me started on Maresca's game management. I don't know what he says to the team at halftime but whatever it is, I wish he would not enter the dressing room.

Agree0 0Disagree

18 Jan 2025 09:56:13
Bill, I have no issues with the age of any player. The CH from Ajax looks an amazing talent and I would love us to sign him.

We have been buying and selling players for as long as I can remember.

When the team is winning very few fans bring up the subject of “game management. ”

Last season we came out at half time and got slaughtered every match under Poch. This seaso it’s just been the last few games.

18 Jan 2025 13:21:14
So far Tom, hopefully it changes on Monday night.

18 Jan 2025 23:39:46
Poch did get us to 5th in the league and only lost 1 of last 15 so we didn't get slaughtered everya5ch Tom thoughnonly 31 points from first 21 matches disappointing even allowing for 14 players on the injury list.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 04:12:26
JBS, I think Poch got us to 6th. My point about Poch wasn’t very clear. It wasn’t about the end result it was how we performed after coming out for the second half and a Poch team talk.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 09:19:12
Tom

Same thing seems to be happening after Maresca"s half time team talks.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 09:54:00
Bill, I haven’t said there isn’t something going on after the recent EM half time team talks.

Al I’m pointing out in is for his first 15/ 16 games in the premiership they seemed to be fine and when we came out in the second half under Poch, we came out and initially underperformed.

I would just add that in my opinions if the team went on to win a game after a flat second half performance not many, if any, would be mentioning half time chats by the manager.

The manager of any club deserves criticism if performances aren’t good enough. At the moment EM is getting pelters and that’s fair enough. My “guess” is it’s a combination of issues that has caused this drop off in “results. ”.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 13:14:16
Their rouble is Tom we are mentioning his half time influence as he is not getting results and the performances are worse second half.

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 13:15:24
Just out of curiosity, what are issues you believe are causing the poor second half performances?

Agree0 0Disagree

19 Jan 2025 13:59:50
Bill, the results in the last 5/ 6 games have not been good but the previous 15 game results were ok. So I find it hard to believe any half time “chat” is any different now than it was at the beginning of the season!

I am obviously only guessing but generally we have bossed most matches. So, the half time talk for us is “carry on doing the same thing. ” While the opposition are having to find solutions to combat our superiority. If they stop us per foot obviously creates a problem that our manager has to deal with.

I guess I’m saying my criticism over the last few games is our manager hasn’t found solutions that allow us to continue to dominate a game. I keep making reference to the Fulham game and the Gusto/ Neto fiasco. It was obvious but nothing was changed.

All that being said, our overall play has been enjoyable to watch and the manager should be judged over a season and not 5/ 6 games.

16 Jan 2025 15:45:17
Adeyami links today now, high fee, 22 and in 4 years has missed over 60 games through injury, what are we honestly thinking. Sesko lined to arsenal and although while we're " monitoring delap " arsenal know the difference between success and failure is a goalscorer, realistically delap os get able now, get him, even sweeten the deal with carney loan. But let's get this matter sorted,

Believable0 0Unbelievable

16 Jan 2025 18:50:38
Matt, have Arsenal signed Sesko in this window?

Ipswich may well sell Delap but I doubt it will happen in this window.

Please give me the name of a top goal scorer we can sign in this window.

The club tried and failed in the last window and as I’ve said before, I doubt it was because of a lack of k of effort.

16 Jan 2025 19:24:40

If we sign him the SD's would need davking that same day.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Jan 2025 09:16:24
Bill, they should be sacked anyway. I read a report that Dumb and Dumber couldn’t agree about signing Disasi but Dumb persuaded Dumber by showing videos. Bring in ONE SD who knows what they’re doing.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Jan 2025 09:58:05
my onky concern with delap take away his penalties how many has the lad actually scored from open play this season? he does look raw but i absoloutely love his rubbish housery and agression.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Jan 2025 10:43:47
I’m not sure why the SD’s have to initially agree on a player and obviously the only way one could convince the other would be by showing him videos. I’m not a fan of Disasi and I didn’t see the need for Felix or KDH but generally the SD’s seem to be doing ok to me.

Ii would have liked an Osimhen type player last summer but It seems the club tried hard to sign him as well as other CF’s The pool of top CFs seems very limited at the moment.

The goalkeeper question is very interesting and to me surprising. I do think it’s odd that Sanchez invariably gets the lowest performance mark from post match polls even when he has played well. Looks like fans have given there Chelsea career verdict on him.

Agree0 0Disagree

17 Jan 2025 15:23:06
Adeyemi? Injury prone and not actually that good. Sounds about right for us!

The story goes he has an agreement with the club for a permanent move in the summer.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

15 Jan 2025 19:29:05
So let's get this right, we didn't want Chabs, we now want him and in the summer we won't want him again.

Have I missed anything here, he must feel well wanted by us. not.

15 Jan 2025 21:38:47

I’m a little shocked that Veiga might be going to Dortmund on loan with an option to buy. He’s been decent when he’s played, not really pulled up any trees so far but would leave us a little light at LB.

Believable0 0Unbelievable

12 Jan 2025 19:28:24

12 Jan 2025 23:12:00
Tom, players get dropped from match squads for reasons: yes. Let’s just hope that the reasons are justified and in the interests of the club. For the club’s sake, I hope they are willing to keep unhappy supporters. &.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 04:32:26
Wouldn’t have a clue if dropping Noni or him from the squad was “justified” and it’s virtually impossible for a club to make all its fans happy.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 08:12:58
As I said previously, it was only a matter of time before the so called B squad got fed up and wanted to leave.

What are we going to do when the European conference league starts up again when the B squad has been decimated, tire out the A squad?

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 09:28:13
If players want to leave because they don’t think they are getting the game time they deserve that’s something I understand.

My guess is a few more will leave as well. If the likes of Disasi, Felix, KDH, Noni and Nkunku want to leave along with Chilly and Chuka it will be a shame but I think we will be ok.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 09:40:07
I think he won't go on loan, the club will need a replacement so they are right to sell,
I don't see viega as yet been good enough for premier league personally he looks very raw anytime iv watched him,
30 mill id sell, We will see a lot of these scenarios with players under this ownership, young and if the manager doesn't rate them very highly theyl be allowed to leave for the profit,

Also what did oliver glasner mean when he said Trevoh didn't play for contractual reasons what does that even mean.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 10:11:49
Poch, this is just me thinking but if Veiga does leave maybe Chilly doesn’t leave.

Tom

Chilwell is the one that needs to go, injury prone also not in the Blue Co age bracket.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 15:04:59
Bill, the comment was meant slightly tongue in cheek. When a manager says he doesn’t want a player it’s usually pretty final.

Agree0 0Disagree

13 Jan 2025 19:37:09
Lol Id say no tom b chilly, s days have been numbered all season so strange he's such a quality player when fit.

Agree0 0Disagree

14 Jan 2025 11:06:07
I also think the not using of Chilly apart form injury problems is about age policy but this age policy also goes with a new wage policy/ structure I think. Not sure how completely the club would keepo to it but does seem to explain many out outgoings/ sidelinings and possibly the not meeting of CG new contract expectations? The question though is how eg to know who is a proven goalie/ strike ie key positions (bit would be true for other positions and of course manager) rather than having to gamble more than otherwise might be tghe case on getting right pick with youngsters.

Agree0 0Disagree

14 Jan 2025 11:44:33
All these players we’ve signed how many would you actually say you want them to stay. I can think of 6 or 7 I would let go.

Agree0 0Disagree

14 Jan 2025 13:26:40
My guess is every player has a price but like most fans, some players leaving wouldn’t upset me as much as some others if that makes sense.
