I wouldn't be surprised if Liam's gone tonight. However I don't only blame him. It's genuinely impressive (if it wasn't so embarrasing) to go from Champions League winners to this. Shambles in the club top to bottom and I really feel for Liam. Horrible judgement to put him in this situation and he's just not up to it.

Watched the Wolves game last night and I also recently watched a couple of Coventry games. Some of the skills on view from the Wolves, Coventry and Boro players was amazing.
I think we sometimes loose sight of how good a professional footballer has to be to play at the top end of football.
They certainly don't deserve to be called clowns, donkeys. pub players or occasionally worse.
Obviously some of them are just blessed with a natural talent but they still have to work hard to maintain that talent. There rewards are eye watering but I personally don't begrudge them those rewards.

Again stats would love to know how may crosses or dribbles actually come to anything bet there’s not many he has work rate and pace but not much else so am not saying he’s a bad player but he’s definitely not world class he’s just head down and run.

Neto is a good player; has pace and works hard. However, he is better suited to a counter attacking style: he is not an effective from standstill in a possession based style of play as his judgement is poor and runs into blind alleys.

It is really quiet on here tonight following our win. I really can't understand how this page gets so many comments when we lose but nothing when we win? I might be wrong but I think this page is hit hard by the trolls of other clubs when we lose but as the champions of the world I can understand their views.

Yes we won. Great! but wasnt a great performance and again very boring to watch. Crowd not really off their seat until estevao came off the bench. You could hear the atmosphere change.
Although he didn't do much. But then only had 10minutes.
As for Everton if they had some quality in the final 3rd they would of beaten us. Watching back the highlights thismorning it was clear they had more clear cut chances than us.
But as I said another 3 points. And cole back. Gives some of us something to get excited about.
As for the comments after the game from merasca hopefully he is venting the same frustration as some of us. Not having the players to move the ball quicker (hopefully giving us something to get excited about) not watching the back line pass backwards and sideways for 70% of the game.

In my opinion tomb he is now the wrong person to take us forward.
He is a very tactical manager. Players having to be in the right place at the right time. This is creating an issue with the Creative players not being creative. As if the next player isn't in the correct position then they go backwards or sideways.
On the defensive side. The teams that are just allowing their players todo as they want Creative wise. We struggle extremely. Most are launching the ball into the box and creating chaos. In turn the tactical side of each player being in their defensive position doesn't work as they don't know how to deal with chaos.
The art of defending has gone. And just wining the first and second ball at all costs in the box.

Cfb, I repeat I haven’t seen yesterday’s game but it would appear that we were in total control and playing some decent stuff pre the sending off.
The manager got pelters last season but managed to get us back into the Champions League, win a trophy and take the very first CWC. We then got recognition as a “unique” team by the governing body.
He managed a team that beat my expectations and I’m not going to desert him after just a few games.
Others, like yourself, will see things differently but I hope I am correct with my prediction come the end of this season.

Again its my opinion. I just don't like this keeping possession for possessions sake.
I want as per cole palmer said "i got bored of going back and sideways" so he took risks and look how that ended in the conference league final.

Cfb, of course it could be argued that our managers structured approach in the CWC final against the current European Champions was the reason we easily swept them aside.
I have been critical of what I see as tactical rigidity by EM. I’m hoping for a bit more flexibility from him this season. The start to this season hasn’t been helped with two matches ruined due to players being sent off.

how bad is hille, he has been as good as he has been bad this season and the team continue to play brilliant or else absoloutely woefull, our recruitment has not been brilliant under the ownership, so i think its fair to say its not all on our manager aswell, we have over paid for absoloute dross and potential, but we have also been lucky with some gems like palmer, cucu, caicedo, enzo, fofana (when fit) but overall you could list 30 or 40 players who have flopped and every window we look like were replacing flops with potential, this is our model now i guess and we just have to accept it and support the team.

Sometimes I hate football. You start the season on a bright sunny day filled with optimism but within 45 minutes it's all drained away. First of all, it's the first game of the season so no need to panic. That said, it was absolutely dreadful today. We went back to slow turgid build ups no energy and obvious defensive frailty. I praised Maresca for his tactical nous towards the end of the season but that went out of the window this afternoon. One clear example was that Palace were allowing Chalaboh plenty of room
to collect the ball all game knowing that he would pass sideways or backwards slowing the game up but we persisted in using him
as an out. Anyway, I'm going to have a couple of beers.

Thing is for me most teams will play like palace did and defend deep and we still played wide and still couldn’t break them down didn’t even look like breaking them down. Garnacho and Simmons are a must for me I know a lot of people don’t like garnacho but he goes past people me personally I get rid of enzo I’ve already watched enough of santos last year and this he’s a better player already for me more energy and speed, and Delap must start if we’re going to stick to the boring ‘get it wide play’. First game take a point but what an awful game.

Like a lot of teams we struggle against a back five. With palace they also play with a narrow middle four when they haven’t got the ball. They are well drilled and go into shape reset whenever either CH has the ball.
The happy hammers under Potter apparently play with a back five but I would like to think they might show some signs of adventurous play being at home but I doubt it.

Hey guys and girls, haven't been here for a long while now since ed 002's unfortunate passing.
Been reading posts of late on rumours, banter and especially discussions, yep Standard you bagged Caicedo before he even played a game, you should be ashamed, he has been immense/ huge for our club. Enzo has developed (another high price acquisition) into another huge plus for us, and Lavia (as per Tom) will be great when fit. Reece is one of the worlds best Right backs when played there, but, he is not a CDM for Chelsea in premier league compared to Wigan in the championship. Unfortunataly I feel EM does not have confidence in Santos and he will be sold, therefore whoever bids an acceptable fee will gain an absolute monster in midfield, not us!

I obviously agree with the vast majority of your post but I think that EM will give Santos plenty of playing time. The other side of that theory is, I think every player has price so if a team makes a significant offer (£70m) for the lad, my guess is we would sell.

RBD, i love Santos, think he is Enzo mark 2 as in box to box midfielder and therefore easily covers that position.
However with Caicedo now suspended for our 1/ 4 final against Palmermiers, it is time for Usogoo to prove his worth as a DF aquisition.

GS, they will make mistakes but generally they have improved the squad. Those initial windows after the takeover were awful. There was no need for the rush.
Since then things to my old eyes, have improved.
