The list of clubs now supposedly interested in Stones seems to be getting very long. As I mentioned pre WC, we had spoken to his representatives but so have Leeds, Everton and Arsenal along with other European clubs.

I personally can see why we would be interested, but I think it could be between Everton and the Gooners, unless Alonso is really desperate for him and weaves his magic.

We need somebody to keep Fofana and Lavia company in the medical room, Tom.

23 Jul 2026 11:16:13
Always look on the bright side of life is my motto.

23 Jul 2026 11:24:41
There is nothing brighter in life than getting paid millions for playing a few games every season, Tom.

23 Jul 2026 15:33:54
Bill, there is definitely a lot of things better than being paid money. Trust me.

It's not as if these guys don't want to play football.

21 Jul 2026 16:35:19
Anyone else heard the rumours of Romero to Chelsea and Neto to spuds.

I mean I wouldn't hate it but it wouldn't break my first choice.

Also Garna to Villa.

21 Jul 2026 18:57:38
Not for me, Steve.Cfc.

18 Jul 2026 21:48:24
Hi Ed, do you expect the transfer of lacroix to go through and potentially signing a 2nd CB.

{Ed001's Note - Lacroix yes but I think that is it in terms of centrebacks unless you lose a few more. }

Agree0 Disagree2

19 Jul 2026 08:46:07
Ed do you think he's an upgrade on what we have? he looked awfull in the games he played at world cup it concerns me, the 1 question i asked was is he even on upgrade on trevoh?

{Ed001's Note - it is hard to say, the way Palace played meant he was very well protected and never really pushed out of his comfort zone like he was last night. It is a major concern that he might not be so good without all the cover in front of him and a higher line.}

19 Jul 2026 14:19:59
Yeah, for sure. Last night was a big worry. However, he'll be next to Levi. Levi made Fofana look like a Rolls-Royce of a cb the season before last, so maybe it can work. ? Going to be a busy summer at SW6. Any info on Wharton? There were rumours he was going to Chelsea for a while.

19 Jul 2026 14:39:11
Poch, I agree, he did have a couple of dodgy moments at the WC, but then he also FOS a few things that surprised me. He certainly looks comfortable on the ball and can ping a pass.

I have no idea how Alonso will set us up next season, but he looked comfortable in the Premiership, and we may well play a similar shape to Palace.

19 Jul 2026 19:43:07
Lacroix may be ok next to LC, but only if they have midfielders in front of them who can tackle.

19 Jul 2026 22:06:55
JBS, I think you are right, let's not sign him and give Josh a chance instead.

19 Jul 2026 23:25:29
I would sign him, and then (unfortunately) I think we sell four CHs.

18 Jul 2026 18:47:03
Rumour is we have agreed a fee (£117m) for Rogers.

If this is true, I assuming we will be selling them a couple of players. Maybe Jackson and Badiashile.

Just one other rumour. Apparently Newcastle have asked the price for Jackson.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2026 21:28:00
117 million is surely far too much to pay for Rogers? He scored 10 goals and contributed 6 assists, but made little impression for England at the World Cup.

Rogers did score as many goals as Enzo and offered two more assists than Enzo, but Enzo's passing accuracy (overall and long passes) was much better. He created considerably more chances than Rogers and made double the number of tackles.

So I greatly hope that, if we do buy Rogers for this huge sum, it is not because we are selling Fernandez, particularly not to Arsenal or City.

Not quite sure what I make of this rumour, Tom, though I think you are a fan of Rogers. Is it true that he is a friend of Cole's, or is that someone else in the England set up?

18 Jul 2026 23:36:56
JBS, I do like Rogers as a player and I try not to think of transfer fees, although that is difficult.

I'm personally not sure that, if we do sign Rogers, and I'm far from convinced this will happen, it means EF will be leaving.

19 Jul 2026 13:13:26
I think Enzo is a false equivalent. Rogers is playing higher up, taking more risks in the final third than Enzo.

Rogers gives you the option of two narrow 10s in a 3-4-3, and an alternative to Palmer in the 10 in a 4-2-3-1. He also gives you ball carrying, which Chelsea don't really have. Palmer is a passer, facilitator and finisher; Joao Pedro has the hold up and link up play, plus calm finishing. Neither picks up and drives.

Jackson is the only other player with that profile, although I think Delap can also do it when firing.

£117m is a lot, until you see the price of other players in the market, especially midfielders. I also wouldn't be surprised to see at least one Chelsea player on their way to Villa for a somewhat inflated fee, a bit like Kellyman and Maatsen. Both have issues with UEFA rules to work through (and around).

19 Jul 2026 19:17:52
tbh wouldn't mind seeing Cole back on the right, and Rodgers, Caicedo and Enzo together in the midfield would be interesting. Only thing then, potentially, would be pace in the team - maybe need to look at a quick left winger. Not sure if this Palestra is quick, but whoever plays left back hopefully will be quick.

19 Jul 2026 19:38:07
Neither Cole nor Morgan Rogers can tackle or track back that well, compared to Enzo, who also last season scored as many as Rogers and more than Cole. So, yes, it is a false equivalent, but if no Enzo, can we depend on Caicedo alone protecting the back?

19 Jul 2026 19:41:03
Which is why I was worried about us selling Santos, who can also tackle. But my worries would be considerably less if Enzo stays.

Would also like Jackson, not Delap, to be back up or occasional partner for Pedro.

18 Jul 2026 16:19:19
Hi Ed,
Is there any truth in the lewis hall rumours now that rayo v are putting the price up on PC.

{Ed001's Note - there is interest but Newcastle don't want to sell. }

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jul 2026 08:47:11
Do you expect the directors to be cautious in the market? Sell before buying, as the squad is inflated.

{Ed001's Note - I don't think that is in their thinking at all. They will continue to work on offloading players, but they will worry about SCR rules next summer when they know what competition they are in. Then they will know what they have to do to be within the SCR limits.}

19 Jul 2026 14:20:58
This year is likely the year they need to go big and improve before potentially being more restricted next season.

17 Jul 2026 22:40:54
Lots of positive reports coming out about Reggie Walsh, bossed the bleep test and has physically developed. Such a technically gifted player, I can't see a world where Xabi Alonso doesn't like him. 100% one to watch for first team mins this season, if he doesn't go out on loan.

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jul 2026 12:50:06
Was he highly rated by Enzo Maresca J? Played a fair bit in the Conference League?

18 Jul 2026 17:33:41
Yeah, very highly rated, started under him in the Conference - I think he became our youngest starter that season.

11 Jul 2026 13:26:03
Every player not on international duty has reported back to Cobham, except:

• Garnacho
• Disasi
• Badiashile
• Guiu
• Kellyman
• Datro Fofana
• Caleb Wiley

I assume they will all be sold or loaned next season.

Garnacho rumoured to be of interest to Roma; Chelsea want £34 million.

Disasi rumoured to be wanted by West Ham with a fee of £25 million agreed, but player wants to see if a Premier League club comes in.

Kellyman had a very successful loan at Cardiff and will likely go back on loan.

Guiu has a number of suitors.

No news anywhere that I can find on Wiley or Fofana, but their book value is peanuts so no issue.

The one 'bomb squad' player looks like being BB.

11 Jul 2026 17:42:54
Seen Saudi links for Garnacho, and they said he'd be happy to go there, so it could be a possible destination for him.

12 Jul 2026 09:48:49
Hopefully, because I can't see anybody else buying him for the fee we want.

12 Jul 2026 15:22:33
Chelsea value Alejandro Garnacho at €50m and want a permanent exit. There have been talks with Roma, but the Serie A side want a loan formula. Chelsea are only looking at a permanent sale.

Garnacho is drawing interest from England, Italy and Saudi.

Like Andrey Santos, he wants to be a regular starter, and Chelsea can't offer that. Club and player working together to find a solution.

Garnacho is yet to report for training as all parties are focused on an exit.

Progress being made and it is hoped an exit can be facilitated in the next two weeks.

16 Jul 2026 22:08:08
If it's a straight loan with obligation, which is achievable, and the end fee is reasonable, I can see it happening. Otherwise, Saudi could offer that much, but there's been plenty of talk of them cutting back on expenditure, so who knows.

03 Jul 2026 09:56:56
Real Madrid confirm the Athletic reports that they’re not planning to sign Fernandez.

I’m not sure I see another team paying the money this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

03 Jul 2026 16:49:38
I think you are correct, J.

03 Jul 2026 17:49:51
Given his agent's comments on liking Madrid, but also being happy in London, I fear Arsenal interest is the only one to worry about. I'd be very disappointed if we sold him to an EPL rival, especially a London one. It'd have to be for an inflated price, on top of what is already a high price.

06 Jul 2026 18:01:57
It would be dreadful to sell EF to Arsenal, and surely BlueCo should realise this.

07 Jul 2026 18:59:46
It would be awful. But Arsenal must be aware that it's a vast amount of money for a player who, in a year or two, will be re-engulfed in the Real Madrid circus again. It would certainly put me off.

01 Jul 2026 14:14:50
Linked with Pep Chavarria, don't know much about him but seems like a Dave type player from what I've read.

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jul 2026 09:23:09
If he's on the same level as Dave, we would be fortunate to get him. I have looked at his 'show reel' highlights on YouTube, but that's what it gives you: highlights. Hard to judge what a player might be like game after game in terms of consistency and contribution.

30 Jun 2026 22:24:24
I have a mate who says we are looking to sign a midfielder who is playing in the WC but not from England but Paraguay.

I am out of the country and somewhat out of the loop. Anyone got any good rumours?

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jul 2026 08:37:17
Tom, Tyrique George is reported to be off to Everton on a permanent transfer. Malo Gusto is wanted by Man City. There is interest from a number of teams for Delap. Alonso apparently wants to sign for Pep Chavarria as a LWB, and also wants to have a look at the current squad before deciding who goes and who stays.
Sources: Sky Sports and others.

01 Jul 2026 10:22:33
Thanks, RPD. I assume my mate is winding me up about a midfielder from Paraguay.

01 Jul 2026 10:29:14
Tom, I imagine your mate is talking about Julio Enciso who is a blue.co player at our sister club.

01 Jul 2026 12:18:02
It was reported, at the time he was signed for Strasbourg, that Enciso had been told he was viewed by BlueCo as a longterm Chelsea player.

02 Jul 2026 09:25:31
Enciso has impressed me the half a dozen times or so I've seen him for club or country, including when he scored against us for Brighton at the Bridge, of course.
