Hi ED, Fabrizio Romano has reported that the Omorodion deal has collapsed and there’s now new talks between us and atleti for Felix. Is there any truth in this - to your knowledge? Thanks in advance and I hope you are well!
{Ed002's Note - Yes, Atletico have offered Felix to Chelsea but there is interest in him from Aston Villa which may be more attractive. Mendes is dealing with the sale.}
1.) 12 Aug 2024 16:22:29
Thank you for explaining ED - sorry I should have known there would be multiple requests of a similar nature regarding this! I hope you’re having a nice summer wherever you are!
{Ed002's Note - It is no problem. JF enjoyed his time atChelsea and he was liked by the club. He was close to joining last summer but the move was blocked someone.}
2.) 12 Aug 2024 19:21:54
I think the support was split on him, but I really like him when at Chelsea. Very exciting player - I think he’d fit in very well at our club again now.
3.) 13 Aug 2024 07:37:02
Do you expect the Gallagher to Atletico deal to still go ahead Ed002?
{Ed002's Note - Yes in an effective exchange.}
02 Aug 2024 14:59:09
Hi ED002,
Two things - if you don’t mind.
Firstly you mentioned prwviously about Chelsea having varying interest jn Diogo Costa and Maignan, has the signing of Jorgensen ended this interest?
Secondly - and this is just a query/ reminder, but is there any chance of an upcoming sharkopod for all the varying transfer activity across the board (not specifically Chelsea) . As I said, more of a little hopeful reminder than anything else as I appreciate it must be extremely time consuming!
Thanks for keeping us all company so far this window and every other window/ season in general! I hope you’re keeping well!
{Ed002's Note - Chelsea are still looking at Goalkeeping options and are currently in discussions with another club.
Rightnow I am struggling with time - but it is possible.}
1.) 02 Aug 2024 17:46:00
Ed - May I ask if there is any interest in Chelsea’s current keepers?
{Ed002's Note - Yes here is.}
2.) 02 Aug 2024 19:51:29
Thank you for the information ed.
That’s completely understandable mate, thank you for taking the time to keep us updated! Make sure you have some time for yourself too!
13 Jul 2024 13:32:16
Good afternoon ED002, I hope you’re well and having an enjoyable summer. I was unsure where to propose this question, so I apologise if this is not the suitable place. I was just wondering if there was any chance of your podcasts returning? I used to really enjoy listening to them when they were posted, and would definitely enjoy listening in again if they were to return (even if Chelsea were to be excluded from topics due to the obvious complications that could bring) .
{Ed002's Note - perhaps. Right now I am travelling but will be back on Monday - remind me then.}
1.) 13 Jul 2024 20:57:12
Not a problem at all ED, thank you! Anywhere exotic? Safe travels good sir!
2.) 15 Jul 2024 08:35:39
Good morning ED, I hope that you are well and I hope your travels went smoothly! Just a friendly reminder about that potential podcast. Wishing you and everyone else the best on this miserable monday morning (weather is awful here) .
{Ed002's Note - I will try when time allows.}
3.) 15 Jul 2024 17:35:26
Ed002 any possibility of that podcast/ sharkopod if you have time? Much appreciated.
{Ed002's Note - When time allows.}
4.) 16 Jul 2024 15:29:16
I appreciate it’s not going to be the quickest of things to do ED. Thank you in advance, i’ll be waiting patiently in anticipation! Thank you for everything you do - most of us appreciate you.
5.) 19 Jul 2024 17:27:38
Yeah me too. Very good listen.
21 Jul 2023 18:30:24
ED, to chelsea still have interest in diogo costa? Or has their interest gone now? I’m sure I recall you saying he was on their list a while ago.
Thanks in advance!
{Ed002's Note - They do. He is an option.
}
1.) 22 Jul 2023 02:08:55
Thanks ED. From what i’ve seen of him he looks like a cracking keeper for his age. We could do a lot worse.
2.) 22 Jul 2023 11:39:32
Thanks Ed.
Also, I agree Chech. Statistically he appears to be the best on the current market at least. (Including Onana)
3.) 22 Jul 2023 12:41:12
Diogo Costa is my preferred choice.
13 Jul 2023 05:50:10
Hi ED, I am consistently seeing rumours of Chalobah leaving. Whilst I am no doubt that there are plenty of sides interested in acquiring him, is the club looking to sell? Also would the player entertain a move/ is he looking to move?
Thanks in advance.
{Ed002's Note - Trevoh Chalobah (CB/DM) – Inter, Milan, Roma and RBL, as a Gvardiol replacement are keen. Inter will push and have already discussed a more complex deal incolving another player in the transfer. As a wildcard, Newcastle could look to him. The issue taht Chelsea has is that they will not be able to assure him of the game time he wants going forward as a result of another CB staying on another year.}
1.) 13 Jul 2023 11:46:46
I hope he stays. He was one of the few players to perform consistently last season. I would say he might even have been our most improved player but that was a low bar last season.
2.) 13 Jul 2023 12:33:25
Thank you so much for the reply ED. I hope you’re keeping well and retaining your sanity in these hectic times!

I try to stay positive as much as I can, and in a way I do slightly feel for Maresca. There have been some significant injuries at inopportune times along with our vital players not firing on all cylinders. However I do feel that he’s beginning to pick a fight with the fans, and I can’t see that ending well for him. If we get Champions league I think him staying will be 60/ 40 but if we miss out I have a strong feeling he may well leave.
Someone that pops to mind as potentially available would be Ancelotti. Madrid aren’t known for there patience and if they miss out on the league after the cup exits I think he may well be gone. He would definitely be a popular choice amongst fans and has a proven winning pedigree, including at Chelsea. What do you guys think?
1.) 27 Apr 2025 09:51:46
Would love Carlo but unfortunately it ain’t happening.
If we do sack EM and I just can’t see it happening, no matter if we are in the champions league or not, then I would just like the Stuggart manager.
2.) 27 Apr 2025 10:36:20
Not for me Cech,
He is coming to the end of his career and I think the Brazil job is perfect for him.
3.) 27 Apr 2025 11:36:35
Ancelloti is probably my favourite Chelsea manager of all time, and I was gutted with both the fact that he was sacked and the way he was sacked.
But I think Ed001 said something once about his style of management being quite easygoing, letting his players do what they like to a degree – can understand how this works with seasoned pros, but feel this likely would not work with this group of young players, who need someone to guide them towards being professional. Not a disciplinarian, exactly, but the right mix of strictness and encouragement. No idea who fits that bill. But we effectively need a teacher.
25 Apr 2025 04:25:10
Just for a bit of fun, who do you guys think will be sold this summer? I’m talking realism, not who you are hoping will be sold.
My list: (I may have forgotten some loanees)
Sanchez
Kepa
Chilwell
Disasi
Chalobah - Didn’t seem happy to be recalled felt like maybe had a gentleman's agreement in place to leave in the summer
Tosin
James - I hope not, but I think offers will be listened to but not necessarily ‘up for sale’
Badiashile - Same as James, but more easily acquired
Chukwuemeka (spelling)
Andrey Santos - I hope not
Ugochukwu
Casadei
Veiga
Sterling - Will be an exceptionally tough sell, fingers crossed saudi save us
Noni - I think interest will be fairly high and definitely appears to have workrate/ attitude issues
Sancho - If we buy I think it will be to sell for immediate profit
Felix
Broja
DD Fofana
Washington
Some of these will be a struggle to sell, however I believe they will be the main culprits the club will be actively looking to sell, bar a couple the club may only sell with high profile offers.
Will be interested in hearing everyone else's views.
1.) 25 Apr 2025 08:20:17
Cech, I think all players have a price they will be sold.
I can’t see James or Santos being sold but I think Sanchez and Humphrey’s can be added to your list.
I would also guess that the likes of Felix and maybe Sterling will be loaned out.
I can’t see this summer being a bonkers market. Let’s hope we sign our targets.
2.) 25 Apr 2025 09:03:32
Tom
I think our issue will be too many cooks.
Somebody will want a play others won't and by the tine it's sorted, the good ones will have already gone to other teams.
Not having a pop, just saying we should not have too many cooks in the kitchen.
3.) 25 Apr 2025 09:08:56
Cech
Out of your list, I would keep Santos, Chuck, Veiga, Ugochkwu, Chabs, Nobi, James and Tosin.
The rest can go.
We need to keep a strong Squad next season and not just a strong 11.
4.) 25 Apr 2025 13:01:12
Leaving aside, Fofana. James and Lavia who have hardly played so are difficult to assess and the academy players who have generally done well, the only players worth their salt are Caicedo, Palmer, Enzo and Cuccurella. As far as the rest I don’t care if they are sold. As for hoping that we sign our targets; that very much depends on who they. Last summer was a disaster.
5.) 25 Apr 2025 13:16:39
I would keeP Santos Chucky James Sancho
I would also keep Kepa not going to happen but the management of Kepa considering our goal keeper situation has been awful
Would sell the obvious ones and Madueke.
{Ed077's Note - you want to keep Sancho? ?? Please please do that.
6.) 25 Apr 2025 17:16:17
Kepa (out of contract), Jorgensen, Chilwell, Veiga, Tosin, Chalobah
Ugochukwu, Chukwuemeka, Casadai,
Washington, Dd fofana, Sterling, Broja, Felix
They're all the players I think we'll depart. I think most will be on loan to be honest. I don't think we will find it easy to get rid of some of them unless we pay the majority of the wages. But we will see.
7.) 25 Apr 2025 18:01:31
Kepa signed a one year extension (clever move by owners) he is not out of contract.
8.) 25 Apr 2025 20:04:17
Makes sense. I always liked kepa.
9.) 26 Apr 2025 08:12:10
Good question because surely quite a few must move on because we are being linked with all the top young talents across the globe again. (as are most clubs I must add. The model appears to being followed by more and more clubs in order to find the next stars due to the inflated costs of experienced and ready players, think £150 million for Isak) .
10.) 26 Apr 2025 09:04:53
Greenaway
I agree that this now seems to be a trend which we started.
The difference is that clubs will add these talents to an experienced squad where as our squad is totally filed with youngsters.
I have nothing against bringing in talented youngsters, my argument is that we should have also brought in experience as a spine.
11.) 26 Apr 2025 09:43:50
Tom, if you check my list again, Sanchez was the first name on it.
Just to add, my list isn’t necessarily players I WANT gone. Just players I think have the highest probability of being sold. Some the club will want to move on, others may be that the players push for the moves for varying reasons. I’d also add Nkunku to my list - I feel like he’s been gone since January.
12.) 26 Apr 2025 10:25:00
Cech, sorry I missed him on your list. I think at least two but more likely three of our keepers will be sold or loaned.
13.) 26 Apr 2025 11:34:52
Casadei is already sold no?
Id sell sancho, kepa, sanchez, loan jorgensen, disasi, tosin, chilwell, badiashille, chalobah, nkuku, chucky, broja, DD fofana, sterling, felix, ugochuckwu and viega,
Id consider selling enzo also for the right fee i think he leaves us too vunreble in cm i do like enzo but don't think he suits pl he reminds me of jorginho lovely to watch in space but leaves us wide open centrally maybe go for a tchouameni type and rotate him santos caicedo and lavia fighting for then roles centrally
You would surely generate 300 million or north of it outside the enzo deal,
Id sign delap, guehi, huijsen, bring back in pertovic as no.1 no idea who was stupid enough to loan him out, santos and estevao, i would love nico williams but don't see us doing it, i also would not rule out seeing madueke being sold for 40 or 50 mill with estevao coming in and neto being in the squad also
If we sold maueke and sancho id buy williams for sure
Id loan anselmino and paez to strasburg
Id also loan george, unless we are playing europa league were he could play a lot of games and continue to develop.
14.) 26 Apr 2025 14:31:37
Quite why anyone would be looking to get rid of Trev is beyond me. Past two seasons he's been pushed towards the door; by the end of each of those seasons one of the first-choice CBs, delivering rock-solid performances. We were noticeably better when Poch brought him back in last season, and have been noticeably better since his return from Palace. If nothing else you have him as a squad player because he knows the club, has a fantastic, humble attitude and, compared to a lot of the young players we have, is now a seasoned pro.
15.) 26 Apr 2025 16:45:44
Edw, I couldn’t agree more with your Chalaboa assessment.
The lad is improving the more he plays, I would be gutted if we sold him.
16.) 26 Apr 2025 18:34:03
Completely agree re TC.
17.) 26 Apr 2025 23:31:57
Edw, pure profit.
18.) 27 Apr 2025 04:25:27
Poch, you’re quite right we have already sold Casadei. My bad, sometimes our transfer activity can be difficult to keep track of! I’m constantly thinking of more players that could well be added to my list.
EdW, to clarify again, my post was who I feel WILL be sold NOT who I think SHOULD be sold. That being said, I’m indifferent in regards to Chalobah, on one hand I like him as he’s an academy product and he definitely has always given his all. On the other hand I don’t feel he’s up to the task if we want to be challenging on multiple fronts (that’s not to say I think he’s worse than others we currently have) .
However I would argue with your point that he has made the side noticeably better since his return from Palace. I feel the teams best period (start of the season til early December) was significantly better than the season has been since his return. Yes he has improved the team since his return if you only consider half of December and January, but if you look at the time period prior to that and compare that to his return period, the results have unquestionably been worse. I don’t actually rate W Fofana that highly, however I feel his injuries damaged us more than anything this season as he did seem to be developing a decent understanding with Colwill.
As for delivering rock solid performances, yes he has given some very good performances, he’s also had his moments of questionable decision making, passing, positioning and all round performances just like that majority of our squad.
This post may appear to be a Chalobah hate post, but I promise it’s not. I like the lad and I do feel he has something to offer at present. However I don’t rate him anywhere near as highly as the majority of our fan base seem to.
Ed001, what’s your opinion on Chalobah, if you don’t mind contributing your views?
{Ed001's Note - I actually think you are pretty much spot on - he is good, one of the better centre-backs on Chelsea's books right now, but he could also be improved on very easily. However, he is an academy player and, before being forced out of the club, was one of those players you could guarantee would put his body on the line. He was one of those that gave an extra half percent, which made him good enough for a title winning team back then. This season, it is clear his head is not right after the way he was treated and so is having more of those questionable moments.}
19.) 27 Apr 2025 09:59:33
Ed, I can’t remember too many questionable moments from Chalaboa since his return but I can recall a far more from Colwill. I’m also seeing TC show leadership and talk more on the pitch than he ever did pre his Palace loan.
As I said at the time it was a mistake loaning him and keeping Disasi.
{Ed001's Note - I just see him being a bit indecisive, particularly positionally and that is certainly not helped by Colwill, who looks to be regressing. It looks to be confidence or maybe just that he is hurt mentally by the treatment he got being shoved out the door while thar useless donkey Disasi stayed. It must affect you, especially when it is the club you love doing it.
If you keep him, which you should, I would personally make him captain and make him feel valued once more. No point James having the armband, he can't stay fit and Enzo is a ridiculous choice for captain as he has a terrible attitude at times.}
20.) 27 Apr 2025 10:47:08
Ed we all see things differently and I have no problems with EF being skipper. I do like the shout of Chalaboa being made captain if he stays and I will be gutted if he doesn’t.
Strangely and I’m still not convinced about Fofana but Colwill looks far more assured when they play together.
21.) 27 Apr 2025 12:30:28
juat to add the above i also do not want trevoh sold but feel the board will sell him due to FFP and pure porift.
22.) 27 Apr 2025 13:29:58
Poch, it’s one of the reasons I’m not a fan of FFP/ PSR. Although I’m not convinced that our owners wouldn’t have sold lots of academy players anyway. To be fair RA sold quite a few as well.
01 Sep 2023 09:59:34
Good luck to all of the eds today! I’ve no doubt it’s going to be crazy for all of you. Thank you for all of the help youve been able to provide for this window and always!
{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}
1.) 01 Sep 2023 10:28:46
Second that Ed's, your knowledge keeps windows interesting.
30 Aug 2023 22:03:26
Was anyone at the game tonight? I’d like to hear opinions of how our youth players performed. I was unable to watch the game. Many thanks in advance guys!
1.) 30 Aug 2023 22:45:09
I was at the game, didn’t think anyone played particularly well other than Madueke and Gallagher and then Enzo when he came on. Maatsen struggled, Humphries looked decent enough and Moreira and Burstow hardly had a kick between them.
2.) 30 Aug 2023 23:39:24
Thanks for your summary RVD. Appreciated.
3.) 31 Aug 2023 00:21:08
No worries mate, not the best performance but a lot of players rested and got the win so can’t really complain.
19 Jul 2023 20:44:39
I’ve just read that Chelsea have agreed a deal in principle to buy the sir oswald stoll mansions plot neighbouring stamford bridge, there will be a 9 week consultation period and then fingers crossed everything will go ahead. It will make the redevelopment of Stamford bridge a much more realistic possibility as far as i’m aware. Which is fantastic, as I really do not want us to relocate permanently from stamford bridge.
Are any of the eds or fellow posters able to shed any more light on this?
{Ed002's Note - It leaves the major problem of where the team relocates to.}
1.) 19 Jul 2023 21:12:32
Is Wembley an option Ed002?
{Ed002's Note - I am not getting in to this.}
2.) 19 Jul 2023 21:29:03
Do you mean the temporary relocation during the rebuild? Do you know what the potential options would be ED?
{Ed002's Note - Yes but there is no point discussing it.}
3.) 20 Jul 2023 02:03:49
No worries at all ED, thank you for your time! Fingers crossed they resolve whatever issues remain!
4.) 20 Jul 2023 08:26:15
I'm probably one of the few who would not mind moving away from the Bridge. I know because of the power the CPO have, we would need to amend the club name slightly but thst is a small price to pay in order to be able to build a new stadium with less restrictions.
The area around the stadium is restrictive and residents seem to think they can make money out of the club or hold them to ransom.
Also, I believe the CPO system which was set up to protect the club have too much sway into what the owners want to do. To me naming rights does not interfere with the stadium's protection so why should the club need their permission.
I love the Bridge which I feel is unique but in this day and age I believe we have to move on.
5.) 20 Jul 2023 10:08:50
I have to disagree bill, in my opinion cpo have done very well in making sure the club don't move away. I love the bridge as it is, just move the away fans somewhere else, I'd rather knock down the shed and the hotels and build a new shed end and get to 50,000.
6.) 20 Jul 2023 11:41:53
Steve
The CPO has done a great job in protecting the ground however, i just feel that it is difficult to change the ground name, rebuild the ground, move or carry out improvements unless they approve what is being done.
I feel they should only be there to safeguard the ground so that we font lose it like we did years ago.
If they were more flexible I would not have an issue.
{Ed002's Note - I am not sure you understand the situation and certainly the detail.}
7.) 20 Jul 2023 11:42:34
I think we are jumping the gun: whatever project the club has in mind will need planning permission: which may well be contentious.
8.) 20 Jul 2023 12:04:50
I’m a CPO myself, we aren’t completely against moving ground and willing to hold the club to ransom over naming rights. It’s more of an insurance policy to protect against owners doing things against the interest of the club. If a suitable location and stadium are proposed then there’s no reason that the CPO wouldn’t accept the proposal and be happy with the club moving.
{Ed002's Note - It is not quite as simple as that either. I think we should just move on from this.}
9.) 20 Jul 2023 17:13:20
I’m a CPO along with other members of my family.
I haven’t had a conversation for long time with other CPO’s. The majority of them that I spoke sounded pretty relaxed about things.
I would have liked us to move to the Earles Court site but that hasn’t been mentioned in ages.
If the owners want to develop the current site I’m happy with that. Would be nice if it could be done in stages but that’s just me being selfish.
What will be will be and I doubt I will be around to see any games in it anyway!
10.) 20 Jul 2023 18:50:34
Tom, we all have an affinity to Stamford Bridge but I have always believed, and still do, that developing a 60, 000 seater stadium on the current site is unrealistic. The cost and complexities will be enormous. Earls Court if it was feasible would be ideal, walking distance from the Bridge, good transport infrastructure and less likely to cause planning delays. It is a shame that the Battersea Power Station idea never got off the ground . I have to say Tottenham did a good job for their new stadium well planned and only one season playing at Wembley ( I think ) .
11.) 20 Jul 2023 19:33:59
I wouldn’t presume to have a clue how practical building a 60,000 seater stadium on our present site, I’m not a stadium planner/ architect.
I have always just assumed the club would get “shed” (excuse the pun) loads of money for our current site and that any other location would be cheaper land.
I’ve been going to the Bridge for over 60years but I’m not that attached to it. I don’t see it as our spiritual home. My guess is, I may well be in a minority with that view.
12.) 20 Jul 2023 20:00:58
Tom, I have no issues about moving as long as it’s not too far away. Arsenal fans had no issues about moving. The last plans required digging down 15 metres because of sight line issues, I doubt whether that can be overcome but perhaps extra land and fresh eyes from different architects might come up with a solution.
11 Nov 2024 01:32:32
I remember there was interest in both Diogo Costa and Mike Maignan. I imagine it’s one of those two - but I could be completely off the mark.
31 Aug 2024 01:50:12
Trolls will always troll. Thanks for all you’ve given us this window and every other window ed002. Know that the vast majority of us appreciate everything that you do for us.
And thank you to all of the other eds for their various inputs!
20 Aug 2024 11:24:57
I disagree. I think it’s incredibly disrespectful, he was the first team keeper for a team that finished in the top half of the Spanish top flight. Yet he’s an ‘unproven kid’. I would hardly call that unproven, in fact I would say that’s pretty darn good for a ‘kid’ and says a lot not only for his current ability but also for his potential ability given that his position is generally one that players age into and have their prime towards their later years.
20 Aug 2024 01:16:32
Jorgensen is an unproven kid? I think that’s incredibly disrespectful to both villareal and la liga considering he was the first choice goalkeeper there last season.
12 Aug 2024 19:21:54
I think the support was split on him, but I really like him when at Chelsea. Very exciting player - I think he’d fit in very well at our club again now.
27 May 2025 14:29:18
Lrdit, I’m split on Petrovic. I think Maresca did the right thing in terms of choosing someone confident with their feet (More on Sanchez shortly), as he clearly knew that was the type of player he wanted. Unfortunately the keepers we have on the books (not including youth like Penders), simply are not good enough for where we want to be. Sanchez has made some truly outstanding saves this season, however I could probably count on one hand, the number of games where he HASN’T offered the opposition a goal.
Recently Sanchez seems to have been given more freedom in terms of playing it long when necessary, if this continues Petrovic absolutely deserves to come in, if Maresca reverts to his previous short only distribution then we need a new goalkeeper. I would target Diogo Costa, young but experienced for his age, however Mike Maignan would be another option.
27 May 2025 14:19:45
RPD and EdW, really enjoyed both of your posts. Some interesting views from both sides. Thank you both for the reads.
27 Apr 2025 04:25:27
Poch, you’re quite right we have already sold Casadei. My bad, sometimes our transfer activity can be difficult to keep track of! I’m constantly thinking of more players that could well be added to my list.

{Ed001's Note - I actually think you are pretty much spot on - he is good, one of the better centre-backs on Chelsea's books right now, but he could also be improved on very easily. However, he is an academy player and, before being forced out of the club, was one of those players you could guarantee would put his body on the line. He was one of those that gave an extra half percent, which made him good enough for a title winning team back then. This season, it is clear his head is not right after the way he was treated and so is having more of those questionable moments.}

Unfortunately it’s incredibly common Tom, even in this day and age. My fiance is a filipina nurse and recently had to deal with racist abuse from one of the patients on her ward, directed at her and other ethnicities.
She reported this to her ward sister in the morning and she reported the abuser to the police. The police contacted her and the other nurses and they all said they didn’t want to press charges (I told her she made the wrong choice in my opinion), but they wanted the patient to be informed of the unacceptable behaviour. She heard back from the police two days ago, who told her that the perpetrator had shown no remorse and even made implications that they would act in precisely the same way again in the future.
I’m a nursing associate in the Emergency Department and have genuinely lost count of the amount of people I have had to tell off and threaten with refusal of treatment due to racism. This country’s healthcare system would collapse instantly without the support of all of my international colleagues.
