Seems like we're after two fullbacks from what Tuchel is saying. I assume one of them is recalling Emerson but it's difficult to see how that'll play out atm. I'd love it if the board signed Adama Traore for the right side since he's one Tuchel wanted though. Feel he'd be a much better RWB for us than someone like Dest.

I've liked our bussiness in the market so far and if/when we get Havertz we'll have more than enough quality in our attack. It's crucial now that not only do we get quality signings for the defence but also making sure they're leaders. Pretty evident in this game we have absolutely no leadership at all, the lack of communication within our defence not only in this game but throughout the season has been shocking. Players like Dunk, Rice and Onana would provide a nice spine for the team, all show leadership qualities and are good enough. Of course there's better options in terms of talent especially at CB and GK but finding players who can organise a defence and just open their mouths is just as important for us right now.

I think it has been mentioned that Dunk is a Chelsea fan as well and Rice obviously grew up playing in our academy. Both British and have plenty of experience in the prem and honestly I think would be excellent signings. Give me Dunk over an untested centre half from a foreign league at the moment. We need leaders and players who will give everything for the shirt. No idea if there’s interest though.

As for goalkeeper I haven’t seen loads of Onana or many of the names linked. Priority for me with a goalkeeper is a big physical presence who commands his are well and communicates with the defence. Goalkeeper is definitely the most important signing for me along with Havertz who could be our next superstar.

2.) 09 Aug 2020 08:39:20
Reports in the press today that it's Ben White from Brighton, not Dunk, who we are interesting - not that they're to be believed.

There's been a lot of discussion about Rice being a CM and not CB. We've played both back fours and back threes this season. If that were continue next season (I expect it will), then having someone like Rice who can move back from midfield into a three, mid-game, could be really effective.

We seem to be looking at utility players who are comfortable in a number of positions, Rice would certainly fit that.

3.) 09 Aug 2020 09:14:24
I'm not really convinced that neither Dunk, Rice or White are a true step up in defence. Rice has no chance in DM should Kante stay as we expect.

I think a lot of these names are all being pushed by the media. I remember last month the media were convinced that we had signed Tagliafico. We now know his far from priority as Ed2 mentioned.

I'm convinced Chelsea will look for proven quality and will not settle for Dunk's and White's. The previous transfer windows where we signed a lot of average windows in costing us till today.

Oblak "rumoured" to be our number 1 target for the goalkeeper position and may try and tempt Atletico with a player+ cash deal involving Kepa. He's the dream singing for that position but i'd be stunned if that happened. I don't know Atletico's financial position and whether they need the money or not but if they do then who knows. We'd definitely need CL football if we were to have any chance of convincing Oblak to join too. Don't see it happening but a man can dream.

LondonBlues90

1.) 14 Jul 2020 00:37:38
He’s a quality keeper don’t get me wrong but there are goalkeepers around who are just at smaller clubs who could have a similar impact. Predrag Rajkovic would be my pick he’s had a fantastic first season at Reims and he’s a great shot stopper and very good at collecting crosses.

Just can’t see us splashing that sort of money on Havertz (who i’d prefer) and Oblak. Not to mention we still need a left back and a centre back. I think Rice will happen with hopefully Barkley going the other way.

2.) 14 Jul 2020 07:35:11
Agree Bobby i'd definitely prefer Havertz if we had to choose but considering how many players that may be moving on i don't feel being able to afford both is that unrealistic tbh. Thinks it's more Atletico accepting that offer is what i find hard to see.

Haven't seen Rajkovic play so can't give an opinion on him but getting a keeper who can command his area is very important. As for Rice i've never understood the negativity when he's been linked with us, every time i see him he looks like a top player who'll only get better. Only worry is that we need a experienced leader at the back, Rice has leadership qualities but i don't feel like he'd be what we need. I'd definitely take him as a CDM though, feel that's his best position.

3.) 14 Jul 2020 08:16:59
Rajkovic played against for Tel Aviv a while back (I think) . Looked good and, if I remember correctly, we were keen on him back then but he only wanted to move to a club where he'd be first choice.

Oblak is certainly one of the best in the world, it'd be another world record fee for a goalkeeper, which I can't see us going for.

4.) 14 Jul 2020 15:13:50
Oblak is sensational. Other than his distribution which is around average he is world class in every aspect.

With Pedro's sale been ruled out by Lampard it seems as if we may be doing very little business this window. Feel like a backup ST may be the only purchase we make and i don't have a clue who that may be. Felt the CB position would be another area we were going to improve by going for Ake but it doesn't seem as if any of the CB's are moving on until at least the summer.

So you'd think that'll rule him out. All i can say is if this were to happen i wouldn't be too happy but it was clear our top targets weren't going to be available in January and i'd rather wait and get them in the summer than waste money on our 3rd or 4th options.

My worry though is that we need CL football to get them, and with United seemingly getting Bruno Fernandes and our need for a creative mid i fear we'll miss out on top 4 which would be costly to our business in the summer. Of course i've learnt not to take what players and managers say about transfers too seriously so we may do more than i think.

I wonder how many teams in previous years would have been in the top 4 with 36pts after 21 games. I'd argue very few. We've been very fortunate that our rivals are having a titanic season when we're having a rollercoaster season. Hopefully we take advantage of it and recruit a couple of good attackers to push us on because sooner or later i see Spurs or even Arsenal getting back on track and going on a run.

I don't expect Sancho or Werner in January, but Isco and M.Dembele are achievable for me and both would help massively. And it wouldn't effect a move for Sancho in the summer either. As long as we get a creator and serious competition for Abraham i'll be happy.

LondonBlues90

1.) 02 Jan 2020 05:24:39
I always think 76 points (2pts average per game) guarantees Champs league qualification. It looks to me as if 70 points should be enough this season.

I like to think of myself as a very positive person but the way we are playing It’s going to be a struggle.

It’s up to Lamps and the other coaches to find the solutions. It won’t be easy but if we do secure a top four position, I will be very happy.

2.) 02 Jan 2020 10:01:42
I agree LB90. We are extremely lucky that our direct rivals haven't been performing.

that being said we still have not replaced Hazard who would have more than likely dragged us through games such as Brighton, west ham, bournemouth.

It's been clear that Chelsea had a plan to deal with the ban and allow Frank to blood in the youth then go from there should the ban be lifted.

I trust Frank and the board to bring in what we need in January ( apart from the LB position) to have us kick on for the remainder of the season and hopefully secure top 4.

I definitely can see us signing Jadon and two new strikers this month.

As for the LB position, do we not have anyone up and coming from the youth knocking on the door? I'm loving the look of the right side with James and Lamptey!

3.) 02 Jan 2020 10:10:23
Maatsen is very good and highly rated. I think he could step us and we should sell Emerson and Alonso.

4.) 02 Jan 2020 19:03:36
Yeah i rate Maatsen very highly but i don't see him being involved with the 1st team for a few years. We've overachieved in my eyes haighton because of our situation, but hopefully we take advantage of our rivals poor seasons since there won't be a better opportunity to get top4. And 70pts will definitely be enough i reckon Tomb, wouldn't surprise me if 65pts is enough.

41 shots, 11 on target, 240m+ spent on forwards and yet again our goals come from our defenders against league one Plymouth. Every single one of our forwards could leave in the summer and i wouldn't care in the slightest. Only Ziyech was notably good today. As for Plymouth fair play to them, played their hearts out and were unlucky not to take it to pens. Did themselves proud.

1.) 05 Feb 2022 19:35:35
So what’s changed since Lamps got the tin tac?

2.) 05 Feb 2022 20:36:19
I actually thought we were better offensively under lampard tbh.

3.) 05 Feb 2022 20:51:19
Creating chances in general hasn’t been the problem fuser for a long time.

Missing so many chances game after game and trying to find excuses is hard even for an eternal optimist like me!

4.) 06 Feb 2022 09:10:29
I agree tom. Finishing is our problem and has been now for sone time.

With lukaku’s lack of confidence and limited movement in the box, Werner unable to hit a barn door and many of our central players not wanting to shoot and passing if sideways rather than taking the shot, it is not surprising that we often have to rely on wide players to create and score.

I don’t think this is a TT system problem but a player mentality problem that TT inherited. Personally I’d like ti see havertz given some more minutes up top because what he lacks physically he makes up for with great first touch and movement. Lukaku is poor on both of those fronts.

In the summer I would like to see some acquisitions of players that are physically and mentally strong, such such as players like Rice and Bowen from West Ham.

5.) 06 Feb 2022 10:37:25
I don’t think we will get either player you mention TruBlu but it’s good to dream.

Missing chances game after game must be so soul destroying for every player on the pitch and manager!

30 Dec 2021 17:00:31
Not surprised at all. Our finishing has been shocking all season and the purple patch our defence had is long gone. Hardly surprising either considering FOUR of our defenders can leave for free in the summer. Add injuries into the mix especially to our two best players this season in Reece and Chilwell and this could turn real messy.

LondonBlues90

01 Nov 2021 16:30:32
Gallagher really looks like some player. Hope to see him in the squad next season. How he'd fit i don't know given the amount of midfielders we have but he deserves a shot. Broja too. Oh a Reece is a special player, but we already knew that (; .

LondonBlues90

1.) 01 Nov 2021 17:23:27
He certainly looks to have improved since being loaned to Palace. Hope it continues for the remainder of the season.

2.) 01 Nov 2021 22:25:40
There’s no doubt that there’s a good player in him that’s unraveling everyday, I think if he wants to SMOOTHLY make it at Chelsea, he should stay another year at Crystal Palace after this current season. I guess Crystal Palace would very much welcome the idea of signing him on for another season on loan. I strongly feel Patrick Vieira is clearly very key to his development.

3.) 02 Nov 2021 10:31:41
I think with Jorginho having one year left on his contract come the summer window, it’s possible we’ll see him sold. Whilst Gallagher is more of an attacking CM, there could end up being space for him in the squad depending on RLC’s future, Barkley will probably be sold too. Big summer decisions to be made.

4.) 02 Nov 2021 18:52:50
Imo he should return after the season and fight for a place in the first team. Just like mason and others proved, if you are good enough you old enough. his continued sojourn on loan hamper his integration because cfc being an ambitious could always bring in players which could block his path ti 1st team. especially now that positions are not sealed but opportunities given by tt. Its obvios a certain midfielder is needed in the team, who knows if he can plung the space
A player who has shown to have the talent should be given the chance sooner than later.
Broja shouldn't have gone on loan imo, he could have suprisrd many especially with both timo and rom injured.
Finally let me shake the table, tbh i still doubt lukaku in chelsea and doet seem to strnghten us as many would think. Our attack hasn't been as coherent and devastating as like season. this i think we may still look at another striker next window.

Can somebody tell me why managers bring on players just to take a penalty with their only touch?. It must be one of the stupidest decisions a manager can make, literally cost England the Euros as well. United haven't looked that great but they have a lot of match winners in their squad, reckon we could see a very good title race this season.

LondonBlues90

1.) 19 Sep 2021 19:23:00
Incredibly stupid decision by Moyes. Man U seem to be able to win matches they shouldn’t . Hopefully their luck will run out; they look very beatable.

{Ed014's Note - I don’t see United as a threat to one of Liverpool, City and yourselves as the real deals for both the Premier League and Champions League.

United get opened up buy pretty much everyone they play and really are riding their luck.

18 May 2021 19:12:11
Personally think our biggest problem has been relying on too many youngsters to pull us through this season, especially in attack which has been our biggest downfall this season. We simply don't have experienced match winners going forward. Look at teams like Bayern, City, PSG, Liverpool (last season) how many youngsters where a big part of their success? Specifically in attack? Very few. Then you look at our squad with Mount, CHO, Pulisic, Havertz, Tammy and even Werner who just turned 25. It's too many.

I'm not saying it's a bad thing but when you have that many it's going to bring inconsistent performances, and that's what's been costing us. If we want to start competing for the league then we need to add top quality experienced attackers into the squad, specifically at the ST position. Unfortunately it'll likely come at the cost of losing one or two of our younger players but if we wanted to be a consistant force again then i think it would have to be done.

LondonBlues90

1.) 18 May 2021 19:45:20
Playing youngsters got us 4th last season.

Palace have got a real player on their hands, he was one i was hoping would get a chance in pre-season but i think it's a good move for him. Think Matt law said we valued him around £20m a while ago and if that's near enough the sum it's not bad bussiness. Expect him to be worth triple that in a few seasons though.

From what i've seen he still isn't a proper holding DM and has a similar role to Kante but he's definitely miles better than Jorginho and Kova in the defensive 3rd and is much better at passing between the lines. 4231 with Kante and Partey at the pivot would improve our midfield massively. Still, would be surprised if he didn't end up at Arsenal but with that release clause we could easily swoop in and get it done very quickly. Would be funny if we somehow ended up getting Partey and we loaned Jorginho to Arsenal. Won't happen though.

Reason i'd let AC leave over Zouma is because he's simply too weak, same reason i don't like Jorginho as a DM. Both players get bullied consistently whenever they come up against physical players.

Trying to get Everton to play high press attacking football when you don't have players capable to do so and a championship level defence is suicidal. Got a lot to learn if he wants to be a successful manager, don't see him lasting lot at Everton unfortunately.

Interview being 3 weeks ago doesn't make it as shocking but it's still incredibly unprofessional and it'll be interesting to see what Tuchel says tomorrow during the press conference. I do fear for Tuchel, certain players unhappy, players out of contract in the summer, injuries and C.V. are derailing our season like crazy.

He definitely is. Hasn't had a single spell where he's looked like a competent footballer. Would be best for everyone to send him back in January, hope he revives his career at Athleti but i don't want to see him play another minute for us.

Game on Saturday is massive, past two games individual mistakes costed us but today we just looked completely lost and clueless at the back which is much worse. Similar performance on Saturday and we'll be lucky not to get battered.
